  1. Unfortunately I have a thing called a job. If you had one you might realise that:

    Passing out on spawn

Bump. Seriously need a fix for this so I can get my DayZ fix.
  3. EDIT 2: After dying and respawning, then logging out in an area where there were no other players or zombies, I logged back in and got the same timer. This definitely isn't an issue with shock or 'server hopping'. I don't know why this is happening. EDIT 1: After reading some of the posts on this thread, I think it may be the 'server hopping' penalty. I did log out shortly after a fire fight (which I won) and the danger had passed. I will try waiting out the timer and see if it happens again. Please don't reset my character. Original Post: Every time I log in, I instantly pass out and have to wait a few minutes. This happens even when I'm at full 12,000 blood. Player ID: 8386566
  4. Was playing today when this happened twice. First, the hacker alters your inventory, putting in a bunch of equipment that doesn't appear in the DayZ game. Secondly, they teleport you to a location. Third, they make you dance. And finally, they kill you by dropping you 300 m. Here's the footage I got of this happening: As you can see, the hacker put a PDW SD and an RPK into my inventory. The previous time he did it, it was a M4 Holosight. None of these weapons are available in DayZ and from my understanding, if a hacked weapon is found in your inventory on the hive, they corrupt your player file so you lose everything. So not only are the hackers trying to ruin my gaming experience, they're actually trying to get me banned from the game.

    Well I can't exactly say he's wrong

Well obviously you're here to make dumbass responses to peoples posts. Did I say that people shouldn't come to forums to make bug reports, offer constructive criticism or make suggestions? No. I did not say that. What I said is that people shouldn't come to forums either a) bitching that the game is too buggy, or B) bitching that they were ripped off. Why? Because a) the mod is in alpha, and B) they didn't even pay for the mod, they paid for ARMA 2.

    Well I can't exactly say he's wrong

If some random person tells you that my product will do something that it won't, and you buy it thinking it will do that, are you then entitled to a refund because of representations someone else made?
  7. miket

    Well I can't exactly say he's wrong

Most developers don't even release alpha versions of their game to the public. In this case, Rocket has decided to release an alpha build of the game, and people are buying a complete game, ARMA 2, so they can play a mod. These people are then complaining that they aren't getting the experience they expected from DayZ. So I will say it again for those who.missed it the first 9,999 times: You bought ARMA 2 not DayZ. DayZ is in alpha. People need to stop complaining like they paid $30 for DayZ.

Waste of $30 and some time

So you spent $30 on a full and complete game so you could play a mod that is currently in its alpha form, and when you didnt like the mod, you got a refund? Who issued the refund?
  9. My 4th most recent death: Thunderdomed and gunned down. My 3rd most recent death: Walking through a supermarket, stopped to pick up loot on the group. Clan member tried to run past me in the space between the counter and the back wall of the store. My legs got broken and I died shortly after. Not enough time to even bandage. My 2nd most recent death: Teleported 100 m up into the sky along with the rest of the server and we all fell to our deaths. And my most recent death: Just died. No shots fired. Hacker just sent a 'kill' command to the server and I died. This was followed by the same thing happening to 4 of my clan members, plus others on the server. So 3 deaths to hacks and one to a bug. This doesn't include deliberate suicides by zombie to respawn at a better position (closer to clanmates). It really shows, hackers are getting less imaginative. At least they actually used to shoot you, now they just finger-of-God kill you.

    Less military weapons

If they would just fix the duping problem, there wouldnt be an issue. The majority of times someone has given me a weapon because they accidently duped the one they were trying to store in a tent. Not every chopper spawn spawns a military weapon, and there isn't always a military type weapon at airfields. And really if you think about it, in this scenario, afetr all the soldiers have been called in to give support, what happens after they're overrun? Fleeing forces aren't going to stop to load up trucks with all the weapons and equipment, are they?
  11. miket

    Death needs penalties. Suggestions welcome

If you put a one hour respawn timer on death people would be more likely to kill on sight. I'm not going to wait to see if someone is friendly if that means the possibility of dieing and having to wait an hour to respawn. If I kill someone, it doesn't matter to me how long they have to wait.

What gun would be good for me?

For really tight buildings you definitely want a carbine like the M4 or a submachine gun like the MP5. Shorter weapons are easier to navigate through doorways with.
  13. Luckiest: Finding a fully repaired Ural Civillian with a whole lot of gear in the back, including two jerry cans of gas. Putting the jerry cans in to get it moving and driving it back to my clans base. My guess is that the people who had it ran out of fuel, forgot they had fuel in the back and went to check the nearby town for fuel cans. Inside was multiple M107 mags. A few basic rifles. Tonnes of STANAG mags, a bunch of empty jerry cans. Bandages, pain killers. 2 PDW's. 3 Revolvers. M9SD. Draganov magazines. AKM and AKM magazines. Winchester with ammo. GPS. Binoculars. + much much more including a lot of food. Unluckiest: Just finished looting northwest airfield with clan mates. Clan mates had just given me NVG's and a GPS which they looted from a campsite they found. My inventory was full with loot so I decided I wanted to head back to our clans base and throw some excess gear in the tents. Hadn't been split from my team-mates for even 2 minutes when someone opened up on me and killed me. Lost an M4 with aimpoint and 4 magazines, AKM with 3 magazines, makarov with 1 magazine. 7 bandages, ghillie suit, ALICE pack, some food. 2 water bottles, hunting knife, matches, map, GPS, NVG's, Toolbox, hatchet, military flashlight, 2 pain killers, epipen, morphine and a bloodbag. What makes this so unlucky is that apart from my 3 clan mates on the server, there was only 2 other people on the server.
  14. So our clan found a truck a while back and managed to get it back to our base. We had to repair it quite extensively before it was drivable. Yesterday, the truck was stolen from our base by a small group of enemies whilst only a few of us were online. We chased the truck as far as we could on foot and one of our members managed to find it whilst on a bicycle and shadow it for kilometers whilst other people got into position. Eventually they stopped and whilst they weren't looking at the vehicle, he jumped in and drove off as quick as possible with the enemies in persuit, whilst a few of our people got into position to ambush them. The truck got its tires shot out before they could be lured into the ambush, and after an exchange of fire the enemies ALT+F4'd to try and survive. With the tires out, the truck wasn't going anywhere. Whilst this was happening, I stumbled across an operable bus while persuing the truck on foot. I waited for two of my clan mates to catch and we drove the bus back to base. A group then set out to try and find enough tires to repair the truck and get it back on the road. After serveral hours of searching, the group finally managed to get enough tires back to the truck to repair it, and we had a fully operable truck and bus ready to head back to base. Then the server restart message came up, saying the server would restart in 10 minutes. We saved both the bus and the truck, and then kept overwatch on the vehicles until the server shut down. When the server restarted, both the bus and the truck were gone. We traced the exact route the truck and bus had taken thinking it might've been spawned somewhere else on server up, but could find neither bus or truck after several hours of searching. All I can really say is that this majorly blows. The time my clan spent chasing the truck, the fighting to get it back, the time spent searching for tires, and the time spent driving down in the bus to give support were all wasted. Every minute of it. Now we are down a bus and a truck, and several manhours of work. I hope this kind of thing is fixed very soon.
  15. I doubt this is the case. I've played ArmA and ArmA 2 matches which lasted well over 6 hours. I remember one game of ARMA with about 60 vs 60 players (it was modified), and we spent a good 4 hours defending one position, quite often firing at things we couldn't see because of trees but could hear where fire was coming from. And that was only half the battle.
  16. In most planes, you will find a copy of the planes manual in the plane. Getting it started is the easy part. And to OP, I'm sure if you spawned it yourself, you would most definitely get banned. If you happened to stumble upon one and start using it, you may also get banned. Maybe put it in the 'suggestions' section. It would be nice to see a plane in DayZ. If not a C130, atleast a small plane like a Cesna 172 or something.

    Fix for the 1.7.2.4 artifacting.

Fairly certain this is a client side issue. Seen those artifacts in both Arma 1 and 2, even in single player.

Reloading the Guns on the Heli

Thought you could reload from your inventory too if the vehicle uses the same type of ammo that infantry carry?
  19. Maybe only people with blood type B are immune to the zombie virus and that's why they survived and why all the bloodbags are B. All the other bloodbags were used up during the initial infections. :-p
  20. Subsonic rounds don't make a 'ballistic crack'. That crack sound is a miniature sonic boom created by the bullet as it flys by. As for the sound of silenced weapons in game, I currently think it's okay. You can easily hear a suppressed weapon firing well over 100 m away.
  21. The reason I ask is that I was just travelling through a forest with a buddy when someone opened up on him with a silenced M4. I didn't see the guy but I saw the direction the hits were coming from and heard approximately where he was firing from. I went prone behind a bush on the opposite side of a clearing to where my buddy was killed and aimed towards my buddies corpse, expecting the shooter to go loot him. I checked behind me, nothing. I looked frequently down the clearing, both ways, to make sure he wasn't trying to flank me. Nothing. No footsteps or other movement was heard from anywhere. Suddendly, from EXTREMELY close range (maximum 10 m, but probably closer), I took a burst of fire from a silenced M4. This situation made me extremely suspicious. Unless there was a second shooter with the same type of gun waiting on the opposite side of the clearing and I somehow managed to not see him (entirely possible if he was in a ghillie), then the alternative is that the shooter killed my buddy then teleported behind me to kill me too. If there was a second shooter who was so close, why did he wait about 20 seconds before killing me? If there wasn't a second shooter, how does someone run 100 m across a clearing without being seen in 20 seconds? If kill messages were on, teleport hacks would be easy to detect, because it would have gone Randomplayer killed Mybuddy followed by Randomplayer killed MykeMichail We all know that teleporting players killing people isn't uncommon. I think kill messages would go a long way to detect them, especially when teleporters kill 2 people on opposite sides of the map within 1 minute of each other.

    Winchester or Lee Enfield? [POLL]

Poor accuracy? No way. The Winchester will consistently hit a head sized target at 200 m without a problem. You're just doing it wrong.
  23. I think the biggest changes will be: a) Locking down the client to prevent hacking. ARMA II is a pretty easily hacked game. You tell the server to do something and it does it. I think the main reason why hacking wasn't as big a problem in ARMA II is because the immature retards which hack usually don't spend money on a military simulator game. That and the fact that there was so few ARMA II servers that weeding out the hackers was pretty easy. B) Inventory system overhaul. Things like having to split 8 rnd shotgun mags into 2 round magazines will no longer be required. c) Completely new map designed for DayZ from the ground up. This means no more towns with no enterable buildings.
  24. When I first started playing DayZ, the way I usually did things was try to establish communication with anyone I see, and only shoot if I see a gun aimed at me. This playstyle pretty much worked for me and I made some interesting allies and did a lot of travelling with a companion or two. I did plenty of trading with people I met on the road and have saved, and been saved by, people I've only known for a few hours. After tonight, however, things are going to change. I had been playing the same toon for about 30 hours of gameplay, both solo and with other people, when I saw a guy being chased by zombies. I approached ready to give aid. He finished off the last zombie and I called out 'friendly' to him. He finished bandaging himself. I was still watching him, my gun aimed not far from him but not directly at him, and I was watching to see if he turned his gun towards me. I try to raise communications. Suddenly, he teleports about 10 m's to left, and shoots me in the head. This simply didn't make sense. 1 second he had just finished bandaging himself, the next he's standing 10 m away with a perfectly aimed shot to my head. Whether this was lag or some sort of teleport hack or lag switch (ie. create artificial lag, move to a new position, stop artificial lag), I don't know. But it was seriously a cheap way to die after surviving for so long. Thankfully I had recently put a whole bunch of my gear into my tent and saved before this happened, so I can retrieve some of the rarer items I had stored. On respawn I was bugged and managed to spawn in Novy Sobor. After spamming V to get out of the building I had spawned into, searched the area and found a downed chopper, which had a DMR with 2 mags on it. Checked out the barn on the south side of town and managed to find a Winchester, Double Barrel Shotgun and Lee Enfield all in the same barn. At the servo I found a hatchet and somewhere along the way I found 2 cans of food and 2 water bottles. I grabbed as much ammo as I could carry and headed to Stary Sobor hoping to raid the supermarket for a bigger backpack. After going through the supermarket, finding a pair of binoculars and a watch, having my fill of beans and cola, and loading up on all the food and ammo I could carry, I walked outside and decided to head for the medical tents. A zombie aggro'd me and I sprinted towards a building planning to lose it inside. Then I died. My instantaneous thought was that I had been killed by the zombie by some sort of bug, but that thought was cut short by the sound of a M107 firing in the distance. On my next spawn I started just east of Cherno and decided I'd head into the city to try and gather some supplies. After finding a hatchet and winchester in the barn, I headed into town. I managed to get aggro'd by a zombie and was forced to shoot it, bringing dozens more my way. Having just spawned, I decided I was going to use the winchester to kill all the zombies that came at me and gather the food/drinks off the corpes. After killing 14 zombies, I was ready to loot when I started taking fire from two different guns from the same direction. I took a hit and ran away, bandaging myself. Deciding to try and continue into the city, I crept around to the eastern edge, passed through the construction sight, and after a few minutes of crawling around checking up ahead, decided to crouch run in the rest of the way. Bang, dead. Next spawn, started west of Balota. Tried to raid airfield for supplies. Found nothing but a few magazines. Managed to meet up with another unarmed survivor, and we got chased by zombies into the control tower. Whilst standing at the top of control tower, BANG. Knocked unconscious by the shot. After regaining conscious I tried to run to cover so I could bandage, having only 4000 blood left and bleeding out fast, but with a broken leg I could only walk. Second short rang out and I was dead. Next spawn - Chased by a maniac with hatchet for 2 kilometers with about 50 zombies running behind the two of us. I had deliberately run him through multiple zombie spawns to get as many zombies as possible on us whilst I did my best 'greased up deaf guy' from Family Guy impression "You never gonna catch me!" Next thing I know, he goes from being about 10 m behind me to being right on top of me, managed to land an axe hit which breaks my leg, and then hacks me to death whilst the zombies attack him. After all this, my opinions have really changed. From being the kind of guy who only uses his weapons in self defence, and who tries to defuse hostile situations as best I can before I pull the trigger, I have come to the conclusion that it's just not worth the risk. In future, unless I see someone is completely unarmed, or at such a range that going over to loot them would be a hassle, I'm going to kill them, I just don't see the point in risking all the progress I've made for the sake of possibly making a new friend. I will stick with the people I know already, and let them introduce me to new allies through people they know.
  25. The guys I was running with turned out to be blantant hackers, spawning whatever they wanted and teleporting around the map. I'm not into that, so now I need to find a new set of people to roll with.
