    Am I Cheating/Hacking

My clan got hit by a hacker 6 times in one night on the server we called 'home'. When I say hit by a hacker, I mean straight out script killed - 5 of us standing around when suddenly we all drop dead. No shots fired, no explosions, no vehicle running us over GTA style. 5 of us standing around, in seperate places, within a 30 m radius, some of us in cover, some not, when we all simultaneously died. The hacker then teleported to our position, killed the guy who was still in our truck, and stole our truck. We decided to move our 'base' to another server, so we all grabbed everything we could, spare tents included, and moved most of our gear and equipment to another server. Is this considered 'exploiting the game'?
  2. Fix it, don't throw it away.
  3. Firstly, if they flame/insult you on your TS, you can ban them from your TS server, not from your DayZ server, so long as you have an officially listed DayZ server. If the insults were of a racial/sexist/religious nature, then I'm sure DayZ staff would make an exception. Secondly, its not your job to enforce games ratings. Game ratings vary country to country. In Australia, ARMA 2 is an MA15+ game, meaning anyone 15 years and older can play it without parental supervision. Do you know the country of origin of these players, and the laws in that country? If you don't, then how can you ban them for being 'under age' when they might be legally playing it in their country? And if you do, then it doesn't mean crap because as I've already said its not your job to enforce game ratings. Even if you do know with absolute certainty how old these players are (what'd you do, get their birth certificates?) AND their country of origin AND the laws in that country, you still can't ban them based on age alone as ITS NOT YOUR JOB TO ENFORCE GAMES RATINGS. Finally, did they hack in the weapons themselves? If yes, then your ban is legitimate. If no, then your ban should not stand. The AS50 TWS used to be in the game as a legitimate weapon - it was removed because it was considered OP. However legitimately looted copies of this gun can still be found as they transfer from one player to the next. Rocket has already stated that using a hacked in weapon is not a bannable offence, only hacking in the weapon yourself is. If they join your server without those 'hacked in' weapons in their inventory, then you should be letting them in. Sounds to me like you're just another butt hurt admin who didn't like getting shot-up whilst trying to fix up a truck. Suggest you cancel your server hosting and play on someone elses server until you've learnt how to do deal with getting your ass kicked without the ability to shutdown the server and ban your opposition.
  4. It seems hackers pretty much aim for the most populated servers. As most people avoid night-time servers, the hackers aren't likely to go on there. But as soon as people start switching over to night-time servers to avoid hackers, the hackers will simply follow. Its like viruses and Mac OS. Never used to be worth programming viruses for Mac's because hardly anyone used a Mac. Now more people use Mac's there's more viruses for it.
  5. I know right. I only get to play about 3-4 hours on weekdays. And without fail there's always a hacker. So unless I'm just online during 'hacker primetime' and the other 20-21 hours are hacker free, then there's a serious problem. I'm personally taking a break from DayZ to play other games where I don't waste 1-4 hours of gameplay every time some script kiddie decides to strike.

    Does sniping need a nerf?

Bad players don't want to make it more difficult to kill people who are 4 pixels high without a scope.

    Does sniping need a nerf?

A graze from a .50 cal could rip off an arm? Someone failed highschool physics. If you're referring to the .50 cal BMG round, they actually travel between around 850 and 1000 m/sec. This is around the same speeds as a 5.56x45 and the 7.62x51. It's the size/weight of the round which does the extra damage, not the velocity. This 'graze from a .50 cal would kill you' is a complete falacy. They're not "+5 rounds of disintegration". Please note that I also specified a shot to the legs - meaning a bodyshot would still be an instant kill, even at very, very long ranges.
  8. I want a taking a leak animation too. So when I go afk to take a leak in game my character can be pissing up against a tree. You're in charge with urin-charge!

    Does sniping need a nerf?

I believe it needs a nerf. The damage on the .50 cals is excessive. A player should be able to survive a shot to the extremities with these guns, but at the moment if you get hit in the foot its gameover. The only time I survive a shot from an AS50 is when the bullet hit the ground infront of me and ricocheted into my legs. I still got a broken leg and lost 7,000 blood. I would nerf the damage so a shot to the legs does about 10,000 blood damage. This, combined with a broken leg and high chance of passing out before you can bandage is powerful enough in my opinion. I also laugh at the players who proclaim how much 'skill' they need to snipe at long ranges. Well as someone who played over 200 hours of ARMA 2 before DayZ even came out, I can tell you that its really not that difficult, or realistic. It doesn't take much practice before you start to estimate ranges accurate to about 50 m without even thinking about it. You will soon find yourself zeroing your scope without any reference to mil-dots or a range finder. Then it's just a matter of point and click. In reality, shooting at range is affected not only be gravity, but by wind speed and direction, humidity, atmospheric pressure (which varies both with the weather and altitude), and of course, the shooter themselves. Even the slightest movement of the rifle whilst pulling the trigger can put the best aimed shot off by meters at long ranges. Adding wind speed and direction to the game, like ACE, would be a great start. If the grass and trees actually blew in the wind, and high winds could be heard, that would not only be quite immersive, but it would also add just that little bit of extra difficulty when engaging targets long range. And of course, this wouldn't just effect sniper rifles, but all weapons - from crossbow all the way up to AS50. Of course, you're probably going to notice the effects more with your sniper rifle at 800 m, but the effect is still there at 200 m with your assault rifle.
  10. This might be all good and dandy for US players where there's nearly 2000 servers to chose from. But when you come from a country where there's only around 30 servers worth playing on (the rest are laggy, slow loading, buggy peices of crap), its pretty hard to just "pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start again", because the hackers are on EVERY server. All you need is 40 script kiddies and every server is basically held hostage to these little punks. I get home from work and I get maybe 3-4 hours of gaming per night before I have to go to bed to get up and do it all again tomorrow. And for the last week or so, without fail, my 3 hour session has been interrupted by some invisible godmode hacker who teleports around and slaughters everyone on the server. Its gotten so bad, I've even gone back to playing BF3! A game I thought I'd never go back to after 'playing it to death' when it first came out.
  11. This is just getting out of hand. Teleporting hackers. Invisible hackers. Hackers with ESP shooting through walls and dense foiliage. Hackers with mini-guns and .50 cal machine guns Hackers carrying 8 different guns and 50 magazines Hackers with hacked in guns Hell, I don't even mind the hacked in normal guns (AS50 TWS, etc) What I don't like is when someone shoots my clan mate, then dissappears into thin air before anyone can shoot back, only to reappear behind for a second shot and kill another clan mate, the dissappear again. Or hackers who fire continuously for over 2 minutes with a mini-gun from the side of a UH-60. Or hackers who keep up with a chopper by teleporting along the ground and shooting it with a .50 cal machine gun (M2 - usually found on top of tanks and vehicles). Hoping stand alone will fix a lot of this crap.

    Safe Zones

Having safe zones/trading areas is a little pointless when there's only 50 or so players on a server. If the game had bigger, more open maps with more players then they might be useful.

    If they removed backpacks!

The difference between food and backpacks is that you eat food on a daily basis. A backpack on the other hand might last anywhere from a few months to a few years depending on how well its made and how well you maintain it and the loads you put on it. Also, 1 person needs one backpack, whilst 1 person needs many items of food. Whilst food stocks would be depleted quite quickly in the normal means of production were halted, backpacks and other luggage items may remain sitting in various areas throughout the supply chain for quite some time (in stores, warehouses, delivery trucks, shipping containers at ports, on cargo ships, at factories which produce them, etc). I'm pretty sure most people would have atleast one backpack in their house, and in a massive viral epidemic I doubt the first thing on most peoples minds is going shopping for a new backpack (even if they don't have one).

People who murder bandits =/= heroes

Bandit, hero or survivor, if they're aiming at me they're dead.
