Well, here. Defibs are not something you just carry around. They are pretty big. Here's another idea that was discussed, pretty much an defib, with CPR gives a better chance of reviving a player.

I want a randomly generated map per server, like in Minecraft and The Dead Linger. I know that the TOH probably has its limitations for this. It would take out the problem of out of game maps that are all over the net.

[SA/Mod] - Percentage Chance based Actions
itsDIETZ replied to Draco122's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I made a topic about the CPR, I'm glad someone else had the idea as well. Feel free to share your ideas, many people have contributed. On the other topics, I imagine they would include several other firestarting methods in standalone. Surely, since this is a survival game. I suggested snares and other traps for hunting game as well. I never liked the vehicle mechanics in ARMA II, they were way to glitchy. But I like your idea. Hopefully, They will have vehicles completely redone in SA. http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/140239-player-revive-idea-for-standalone/page__hl__revive -
Get the whole restart a heart thing out of your head. IRL, CPR will revive someone. The heart can start up on its own. Defibs, don't restart a heart at all, they stop heart in a bad rhythm, in hopes that the heart will restart itself at a Normal Sinus Rhythm. I'm not a lifeguard, I'm a real medic. With CPR you are pumping their blood and breathing for them, they can recover without an AED but enough of the real world. In game, the point of CPR is to have a realistic game mechanic. If you read the posts before someone mentioned CPR (which anyone can do ingame or irl) would have a low chance, say 10% of successful revive, and including the defib, could boost those chances say to 25%. I don't see this breaking the game in anyway, but opening new possibilities and a sense of realism. It could possibly get some people to break away from that shoot on sight mentality. Someone also mentioned the ACE mod, that has a really good system as well.

A couple of people said something like this earlier. Surely, if implemented, some common sense would be applied. Headshots, riddled with bullets (you could still survive this realistically), shot in the heart, missing half your body or something would leave you unrevivable. Hell, if you wanted to be a dick you could deliver the coup de grace to the head and leave.

Well, for a game going for authenticity, CPR seems to me like a good game mechanic to realistically revive a downed buddy, or hell even an enemy you can take prisoner. The possibilities are endless. There could be a huge humanity boost for reviving a guy. It would definitely encourage some more medics out there. Of course there should also be some limitations to the newly revived guy. He can be weaker and slower, higher chance of infection, etc.

Whats very special supposed to mean?

I like this Idea. You are doing CPR and if you have defib, it boosts your chances to a higher percentage.
-
I kind of like the idea of the AED, but I think CPR would be a better option. or both.
-
Nope, epinephrine is produced naturally within the body, you can give it as many times as needed because of this.
-
An epi-pen is adrenaline, epi stands for epinephrine.

Not at all, AED's are idiot proof. All the instructions are on the device and it tells you when to shock. In a robotic like voice it literally says "Prepare to shock", "Shock now". It does all the work. Of course, CPR is used in conjuction.
-
Hopefully, they will change those up a bit.
-
I was just talking about this as well. Certain injuries like that should make you a goner.
-
You actually do CPR when someone is unconscious, pulseless (aka pretty much dead). The 2 min time limit is realistic as well, permanent brain damage sets in after soon after.
-
I imagined something along those lines. You are already able to drag them to safety, so it seems to go hand in hand with the CPR thing.
-
Military. And yes you are correct, Stabilizing irregular heart rhythms. And you would use CPR in conjunction with the defibrillators. And I just remembered about AED's. An AED is a small automated portable defibrillator. They will probably have that in game.
-
Thx for the reply. As a medic irl, I know I wouldn't be carrying blood bags or defibrillators on my person or aid bag. In the field, the most you can do is hemorrhage, airway and breathing control, and that's tough under fire.( I doubt they would go that in depth) So I can see after getting them the hell out of dodge, being able to transport the player to some sort of base or camp with bloodbags and defibrillators available.

There should be no high grade weapons in standalone
itsDIETZ replied to TheMachine's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
They should be rare not removed. Albeit, the duping and hacking has created a surplus of these weapons, that issue will probably be resolved in the standalone. (I hope anyways.) Removing would just be stupid. -
Should we remove barbed wire in the next update

I got this idea from a user video where a hacker had placed a huge naval destroyer on the beach, half in the water. Well it reminded me of several games where you see a cargo ship or something in a desert miles away from any ocean, river, etc. I think it would add a real sense of "wtf happened here?" to the game. I mean you wake up on the beach to a place you've never been or don't remember, notice zombies everywhere, head away to safety and in this field theres a big ship that couldn't or shouldn't be there. You would think " what happened here to cause all this craziness, first zombies and destroyed vehicles everywhere, now a cargo ship miles from the coast?" I think it would be interesting. Tell me what you think.
