    Im scared... but not of the Zombies

    Like 'helicopter' zombie spawns, why not have 'patrol' zombie spawns that are remnants of soldiers trying to evacuate citizens but died in action? Burning humvees and some military loot and basically also in the middle of town, like a firefight occured. There are more zombies than a helicopter scavenge, and the weaponry are of low military value.

    Separate slot for Flashlight in the Inventory

    Get a clip-on flashlight incorporated in the game, I mean, it could be a military/utility thing that can be looted and equipped onto the body, which would then be turned on and off in the inventory "Seeing how handhelds with lights are turned on and off". It also frees up your secondary slot. Maybe instead of turning it on and off in the inventory, it can be utilized by hitting 2x L? You tap L to enable handheld lightsources, and double tap it to enable equipment mounted light sources.
  3. How about when you incapacitate a player, if they bleed out they have a chance to zombify and attack you?

    Basically adding handcuffs in the game would be a interesting mechanic, but no idea how bad it would take it if people mass 'arrest' everyone that joined and made them run around having their hands binded.

    Ammo Poll

    Rather than that, I would think that if the devs have another form to present ammo collecting then it would be interesting. When you are in a zombie apocalypse, how many 'filled' magazines of ammo will lay around in a firestation anyhow? There won't be lots of 'magazines', but there can be boxes of ammo. This means you can make players load ammo into mags to 'prepare' clips/mags in the first place, or store them in it's respective ammo box (the small one sloted one)... 1 Box holds up to about 30 rounds I think, if you think about the bulk and size of military grade ammo. Oh if you TRULY want limited ammo to be super scarce, don't reduce the spawn, but incorporate... Gun Powder! Take a note from Resident Evil 3 which had gun powders and ammo loaders... You load the gun powder into shells and basically craft them.
  6. How about thirst and hunger has separate effects? Green thirst and Green hunger at around 75% and higher will regenerate 1 blood per second. 100% thirst and hunger will regenerate 3 blood per second. Thirst under 50% will see a small drop in movement speed. Hunger lower than 50% will see a small drop in accuracy and more sway in aiming, as you are more tired and can't aim well. Then remove the 'blood gain from food', and instead allow them to give you 'fullness' buff that increases the blood regen per second based on the food eaten. You can stack the effects from the food, at a cost of less food in general. If you have 100% fullness in hunger, you'll regenerate at 3 blood per second, or 90 blood per minute. If you had eaten anything in the last moment, you can stack up to 6 blood per second or 180 blood per minute regen. Canned food stacks a +1 on the regen. Cooked meat stacks a +3 on the regen, meaning eating one cooked meat not only fill you up fully, but boosts your regen. Making food and drink fill you up at smaller increments would work to balance this out, so you need to consume more over time. Water = +50% thirst Soda = +40% thirst Canned food = +40% hunger Cooked meat = 100% hunger. Blood transfusion is still quite important, as you lose the ability to regain blood via food but falls back on regeneration for that. Getting a status effect will pause the regen until you are healed.

    That'll be 1 year, 2 months, and 13 days, and not all bugs will be fixed then. This. Being a mod on a buggy game multiplies to 20x the bugs in DayZ.

    Maybe make a action like so, when someone points a gun at you from behind, then they can use a action to let them 'bind your hands' from behind, literally making you unable to interact other than walking around. It will require rope for them to do so, and the bindings will wear off within a few minutes if the binded person gets away from the people who binded him. It's easier to use this on a incapacitated player, and the reasoning is that the 'player is killed' message will alert his allies. So basically. 120 seconds of binding, timer does not start until the captured person escapes the binding person within 10 meters. After the person escapes, they cannot take any action for 2 minutes, until they get their rope binding off. They can hide somewhere and initiate a action to 'break loose' which speeds up the break out time by 2 per second.

    Just give everyone that spawns a crowbar. Weak melee weapon, not a ranged weapon. Can fend off individual zombies. There. This will satisfy both parties as they don't come off as anything powerful, and isn't entirely weak. That or make hunting knife equippable and do the same damage as a crowbar, just half the range and twice the speed, and make everyone equip one. Heck, allow us to collect hunting knives so we can throw them, maybe throw hatchets too.

    Zombies needs to love blood, they aren't vampires but can sniff out blood in a 100m radius. So start bleeding and watch them pour in from everywhere!

    Because DayZ doesn't want to be hunted down by certain organizations that will call them out for it? No idea, but it's possible. I mean Dead Island did that. Just don't add zombie childrens, you do that only if you like huge amounts of negative reps from the press.

    Sniper rifles needs to be 'really really loud', so they have the best use in the wilderness vs in a town.

    Suggestion: Play Dead

    The reason for a crowbar is as follow: Makes them at least a 'bit' combat efficient, since a hatchet makes new players deadlier than they are suppose to be. Teaches them how to make full use of their weapon and rely on stealth, since you can run at zombies with a hatchet. Also, maybe improve crowbar damage so it has extra damage value versus objects too so you can break barbed wires and sandbags and such, since the intention of crowbar is the ability to 'break' into things. Well if doors can be boarded up, hatchets and crowbars would be the best thing to break them down. But yeah play dead would play a role with this too, if the player is lucky enough to survive while doing that. Because being armed with a crowbar gives you a potential attacking ability to ambush someone after they pass your body... Or when they inspect your body out of curiosity and you get up and WHACK them!

    I'm surprised everyone makes a big deal out of a amateur poster who may also be a troll at this. Mods don't become 360 games, especially if it still relies on more than 0% of the current game assets, it's like asking Bohemia to sue you for trying to sell their game engine (because you are, in a way still using their core code and stuff).

    Was 'Killed' vs 'Murdered'?

    Under normal circumstances, the responses to your post from the 'veterans' of this community will say: 50% "I'd rather that we get no alert messages at all". 30% "Man up already" post 20% that they'll say something normal for once. *Yes I'm poking fun at you people, not the OP. But for your post I'd contribute and say: The 'was killed' feature is something based in Arma II from the start of the get-go, so I'm not even sure if DayZ can get into the hardcoded stuff and change that.

    Zombies are getting annoying.

    Well for DayZ's development, slower tougher shamblers are impossible because this means you need to amp up the numbers to a larger amount to make them more threatening, and that means multiplying the zombie count to 10x it's current amount, which means servers will have issues and cannot support more than 64 players at once in all spawn locations. 0-3 zombies per loot, becomes 0-30 zombies per loot. In a city with 20-50 looting spots, this is basically ~200~500 zombies in a city. That's a rather thick zombie horde. In any case, because DayZ utilizes fast zombie as a cheap fix over traditional zombies, and does it badly, I'm sure that there in itself is the limiting factor because it's a mod, and Arma II engine is the engine that handles 'NPCs', and DayZ cannot override it (thus Zombies drain resources on servers a lot more because you can't touch the buttons and switches to how the mechanic works).

    Barbed Wire!

    Change Barbed Wire Fences to function as follow: It cannot block anyone's path, unless it's a animal then they will naturally avoid walking into it. You can 'walk' into a barbed wire fence, at a cost of a chance of 'bleeding' and getting stuck in it for a brief period of time (encroach) if you get tangled up. Zombies and players can enter it, zombies won't bleed out or anything or take damage at all, but would likely get stuck in it more than a player. After some time of struggling, the barbed wire fence will start losing durability and gets destroyed. This renders the wire useless long term, but useful short term to deter people from getting into a place because they risk getting stuck and bleeding. * You cannot bandage yourself if you get tangled on these, because it consistently causes you to bleed. This is more like a trap weapon than a wall, because you can use it at night to make a death trap for players who runs through forests. What I just explained is like a bear trap, but wider and longer radius and can hit multiple targets until it's durability wears off lol!

  24. Wilderness makes zombie survival less interesting, mainly because you can't farm or do a lot of things in the wilderness.
