How to report hacker with nameplates off?
dra6o0n replied to Kaishi's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Screw the server and it's admin, just tell everyone not to go to that server and watch nature takes it's toll. -
Banned from FR114 for cheat (silly and not global ban)
dra6o0n replied to gussy (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Admins are basically the sheriff of their turf, they call the shots, and the players are the targets. -
1 million and you ask for even more pledges?! WTF?

Lets make a camping counter for hardcore elitists then.

Humans turn into Zombies when they die!!
dra6o0n replied to fane (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
You forgot about the part where zombies are super fast athletes that can break bones and cause bleeding. -
War Z is already utilizing this, a 'item shop' in a sense for it's system to purchase the utmost of basic supplies.

Bohemia has no control on what Rocket wants to develop, while Arma II mods can be justified as assets belonging to them, Rocket can claim the idea of DayZ. Plus if he does go indie with DayZ, Bohemia trying to replicate it on Arma III will just fail, because they don't know how it works. They will also fail because they cannot compete with the War Z, with development being THAT late at this point.

Rocket is not a console based developer, he codes in primarily microsoft languages (VB, C, C++, or C#). Yes it's portable to consoles, but you don't want that, because it greatly ruins the game. Either you are trolling or you are trolling.

New way of getting blood! ( Player to Player Transfusion)
dra6o0n replied to ProGrasTiNation's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Might as well implement cannibalism on dead players. -
And a sure fire way for people to pull scams with. It is better to finish developing a game and have people donate based on the worth of THAT game, not people dropping money for something they don't know what to expect. Do it like Starbound: http://playstarbound.com/ DayZ as a standalone is likely going to be a commercial product if Rocket thinks about selling a entry price. Oh oh, guess what? If you 'donate' via kickstarters, most of the games develops there don't even give you a free copy! Gee guess what one of the project was like? http://www.indiegogo...Project-Roxivia $25 Hall of Fame Your name will be inscribed in the in-game museum walls, to credit for your generosity. $50 Sneak Peek You will be sent a small package of Character Concept Art and Music. $100 BIGGER Sneak Peek You will be sent a bigger package of Character Concept Art and Music. $200 Freebie You will receive a free copy of the game on us, when it's released. $300 Special Freebie You will receive a free copy of the Special Edition on us, when it's released. $500 Wall Swag You will receive a large Project Roxivia poster, depicting all 4 main characters. $1,000 Rare Wall Swag You will receive a large Project Roxivia poster, which will be signed by the team members! $2,000 Let's Get Personal You will receive a personalized Roxivia Related drawning, specified to your liking. $4,000 Extreme Rarity You will receive ALL of the Original Pencil Sketches of the Main Characters, signed by the artist herself. $10,000 You Deserve This! PBat and the Artists will fly to your location and take you out to have a fun 2 days on us. This is if you donate that much money by yourself btw. And for the last two 'amount', zero people claimed it. Why would you drop $10,000 dollars for some 'nobodies' who are 'somebodies' on the internet, to fly to your location, and have fun AT your expense? WTF!? Oh and you don't get a copy of the game, no matter how little or much you donate, unless you think $200 is worth the game?

I'd want to see more buses, for the sake of carrying 24 players for once...

I'm surprised that they even bothered to make DayZ Alpha public... Most of the social and communication based problems is because they released it to everyone from the start.

Revised Respawn and Character Customization System
dra6o0n replied to dra6o0n's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I intend the idea of perks to be light and only affects things in a minor way, like the personality or trait of a character. Perks are optional, like in all games, because they come with positive and negative effects. Otherwise you can go the project zomboid stance and allow free reign on positive and negative traits. -
Bohemia don't give a damn about Arma II, when they are close to releasing Arma III. I mean, why bother putting $20~50 dollar an hour programmer to debug and fix it when they can push for full funding on the updated Arma III engine? Yeah in the corporate world, programmers are EXPENSIVE.

More like add states into broken legs. Heck improve on it with different levels. Fracture is what you would get if you were to jump from several feet height to the ground, you 'injure' yourself and lose some blood in the process, and you get a temporary 'fracture' effect along with the 'shock' effect. This means you get put into pain, and painkillers won't work long term for you until you wear a splint to help recover the fracture over time. Basically, fractures and cracked bones recover if you DON'T move, and recovers slowly if you walk, but it does take a long time. A fractured leg makes you limp, so your run speed drops by 20%. You can use a splint to reinforce it, so you can nullify the speed loss that way. With a splint on, you can recover while running at the slowest rate. Morphine is required to recover fully, or to recover from a broken leg... This means: No more [normal] -> [broken leg] status. But you have [normal] -> [fracture] -> [broken leg] possibility. Also should implement the possibility of fractured arms too... When you have a broken arm, you can't shoot or carry a weapon at all, meaning you drop your currently equipped weapon once your arm breaks, and you cannot switch weapons until you put a splint on the arm or use painkillers to temporarily ease it (and allow you to carry the weapon again). This means people can shoot your shoulders and you end up dropping your gun.

Like a large abundant of soda within a day is a good thing. They need to add 'water bottles' in the game, not the army bottles, but retail disposable ones.

Should kill messages be turned on to help detect hackers?
dra6o0n replied to miket's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Rather, they should make the character positions be server sided so it can detect large changes, like when you are not in a vehicle and is able to gain large distance in a short time. Arma II multiplayer utilizes a lot of client sided calculation, so it's possible to hack that in, using a cheat engine or some sort of software. You'd need to make the server sided software calculate character location to prevent hacks, not have a third party 'hack detection software' while everyone uses a client that is full of holes and vulnerabilities... It's like having museum with doors to the outside everywhere, and you are asking a guard to stand in one place and stare at one entrance. Teleporting is VERY easy to detect, when player coordinates (x, y, z) is different to the clients then it should be easily kicked. But the issue here is that battle eye, while they 'promote' it as one of the best 'third party software' for anti-hacks, it's a crappy excuse for not hardcoding server side preventions into the game in the first place. -
Yeah and it seems like he has other projects to do too.

What player fears isn't really gear, it's the time taken to get back that level of gear, which is faster if it involves clans or groups of players who shares the loot. Lots of players are lone wolf, based on the fact that they join servers randomly, and as such trusts no one but themselves, and finds the game being hardest in this sense. But yeah, the death penalty doesn't need to be changed, but the respawn period needs to be faster because aborting, disconnect, reconnect just to remake the character is too long to bother. Respawning needs to be faster when death occurs basically. As for looting, the issue is that there aren't enough varieties of item types in the game at the moment. If you added more types of items to use it will easily balance out. Like first aid sprays or multiple quality levels of healing items. If bandage stops bleeding, splint allows you to stand up and walk, but can't run until the leg recovers (when the splint vanishes). If painkillers stops your shakes, then have sleeping pills as a mean to recover your nerves, and heal your body at a safe location (recover blood over time), at a risk of being attacked or looted. Adding new drinks that provides boosts can help, like 'canned coffee' that makes you move faster. New food types that provides better blood gain, but requires to be cooked properly. Like Meat Stew, where you need a pot in the inventory and a cooked meat with a water bottle, when eaten the user will gain 2000 blood. This is because the tier between item quality is 200 canned (+600) = 800 meat (+1200) = 2000 stew. Maybe allow canned food to be 'cooked' at a fire and will double the blood gain to 400 each. But yeah, death penalty isn't a problem, its the rate of recovery (from death) for players that's the problem.

If they made DayZ standalone, which means using a new game engine, that is compatible with consoles, then it's possible. With the PC version that's a mod of Arma II, it's impossible. Every game you see, can be recreated easily, it's just the matter of assets to make it look the same. In the game code all you have for rapid fire of a gun is a simple 'loop', to shoot while the player held the button down. Yeah, easy to recreate, in coding. But to put the animations, the models, the effects in, is what's hard.

And easy to detect, I mean it's a aircraft, and all aircrafts aren't perfectly silent.
-
I'm pretty sure that's what set the hacker off to kill you.

You guys are masochists, and it seems that everyone in the community is no different than other communities, they stick to their respective game like it's their god to worship. From my experience visiting many game communities, this is the most common thing I find about communities. Absolute arrogance.

Scripters, Hackers, have more control than me, an admin.
dra6o0n replied to beans's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
And you get admins being banned for spawning stuff in their server, when hackers can do it and get away scot free. If someone wants to screw around and spawn stuff like helicopters and jets in their servers, they should be free to do so. Obviously people would want to start messing around in DayZ once they get bored of the usual repetition.
