0_0 The universe is the largest sandbox. Apart from the laws of physics, we are products of such a system. The fact that we created law and order means that it can occur from a sandbox enviroment. We've yet to self-destruct and destroy ourselves.

Suggestion to stop bad players, hoppers, etc
Louis13245 replied to Bulletproof Sandwich's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I'll give you the fact that there are those that disconnect when hit. I'm not going to try to argue whether more people disconnect at the first sign of shooting or after being hit. It's all irrelevant. I just don't see how this would be implemented feasibly. It's all well and good to suggest ideas, but keep them within reasonable programming allowances. I'm no programmer and I doubt you are either, So I can't say whether your idea would work or not. The only thing is there are so many holes that would punish innocent people, that it would cause more harm then benefit. -
Suggestion to stop bad players, hoppers, etc

I'd like the idea but I'm never on one server as my ping tends to swing wildly. Coupled with the fact that private run servers have may close at any point you have a problem. That and the fact that it would require loads of hives. I'm not too sure how that would work, but if it does, sure go ahead. -

That totally defeats the point. The vast majority of ALT-F4's are because they are being shot at. -
I suppose this is jumping the gun slightly, but do you think that the standalone, if or when it ever appears, should have support for a modding community?

battle loggers, hoppers, campers, carstashing
Louis13245 replied to angrybold's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
They don't blow anything up. Those rifles are designed to critically damage key parts of a vehicle to render it unoperable. They only blow up in the movies. -
I don't think it's about the stuff. I think it's about advertising something that isn't yet implemented.

if a person dies with their ghille suit on, can you take it off of their dead body?
Louis13245 replied to arthur1265 (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The effect of a bullet on fabric is different from the effect of a bullet on the human body. It might leave a rather large hole, but the ghillie wouldn't be ruined. Be a hell of a thing to clean up though. -
Remove sniper rifles..more realistic...
Louis13245 replied to gozzgug's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Not everyone in an apocalypse is homocidal. Just because another person has something you need, doesn't mean you have to kill them for it. Its true that the strong survive, but the strong aren't the lone wolves, it's those that form groups. No matter how big your gun is, you've only got one set of eyes. one set of ears and little chance to survive. The more people you get together, the more secure your situation will be. True, the food and water requirments would also increase, but with more people you'd have a wider skill pool available, along with more hands for scavenging ect. Simply stated, people wouldn't shoot on sight. An apocalypse is a huge change in enviroment. It's about the people fighting a hostile enviroment to survive. Other people aren't the main concern, they're just another danger in a hostile enviroment. Anyways, DayZ is hardly a realistic simulator. It's more of a biased social experiment in its current form. With the later endgame content, hopefully things will evolve. -
Have you seen how much they down in Left 4 Dead? Poppin' Pills...

Suggestion for shopping carts
Louis13245 replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
So what if people use it as bait? Developers put the tools and the means into the game and the players build with it however they please. Even if it means they insist on making wheels square. I think a shopping cart would be a good idea for large mobile storage for the less fortunate survivor. -
Shooting while sprinting
Louis13245 replied to CerebralZombie (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
There's nothing in the game that says you're all trained military personnel. Sprint firing is useless when you're fighting other people behind cover because you won't hit anything. The infected don't hide behind cover, they chase you. They're right behind you. Few people would turn around, jog backwards and shoot. While I agree that sprint firing certain heavier guns like AKs, or most primary weapons for that matter, is completly out of the question due to the weight of the weapons, pistols and other such small light secondary weapons should be able to sprint fire, or at least fire backwards in a large arc while running forward. You're not going to be the most accurate shot in the world, but at least that infected isn't trying to eat you anymore. -
how to stop campimg sniper bandits
Louis13245 replied to Robert-_-Frost's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
The monitor shows you who you've killed already. Your's involves names and recording them, which is arbitary but I'd prefer a number without names attached as I feel that your notebook would get cluttured with names. Though using a notebook to record a kill is a brilliant idea. -
Not when people shoot on sight. Not unless you break the fourth wall of the game and find people on the forums or in real life. You're removing the sandbox aspect just in a different way.

Removal of NVGs and Thermal Scopes

Make it more rare but don't remove it. -
To be honest, there are already zeds with weapons. Other survivors.

You'd be surprised. I think after playing the game, lots of people will wait until a while after the game releases, to actually see from other comments what it's like. There will be those who buy it off the bat because they liked the orignal mod, but others will be more careful, seeing if the finished game fufilled the potential they saw the mod had. That and War Z might attract more then a couple of DayZ's followers.

how to stop campimg sniper bandits
Louis13245 replied to Robert-_-Frost's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I don't think it would. As a way to stop snipers, it doesn't make too much sense. As an informal leaderboard for those who are competitive, its a realistic way instead of a leaderboard that the server tracks. -
Snipers willing to wait on the off chance that you fall within sight radius in a 255km map? There might be some, but most will pack off and camp hot spots instead. Only thing is, who really parachutes?
-
To be honest, I see very little difference. Both are options to avoid PvP. Both 'ruin' the entire game from your perspective. Both are chosen by the player. The major difference I see is that the concept behind that is different, but only because one is coded and one isn't. They both end with similar results.

how to stop campimg sniper bandits
Louis13245 replied to Robert-_-Frost's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Yes.... just yes. If it help you to read the post in another light, think of it as a way to track kills instead. A informal leaderboard. You might even have the option to 'Show Dogtags' to another player, comparing kills. There shouldn't be a formal leaderboard which auto tracks kills. If it helps, they don't even have to be dogtags. -

Louis13245 replied to Robert-_-Frost's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Actually, using dogtags as a form of leaderboard system would be more realistic. Normally, people don;t have magical leaderboards that track every kill, so instead having to have the dogtag would add a kill to your score. It would also lead to people looting dogtags off people who died by Z, which is perfectly fine. There is little trust in a zombie world, and I don't see why leaderboards should be any different. The only thing is, to stop people from farming the coast, dog tags should drop from players after an hour of gameplay, when a person has found an identity so to speak. Or just let people have dog tags immediatly and let the people decide how it happens. -
Just like to point out a couple of things. While the other person was wrong about the effects and duration of adrenaline, the infection may have other ways of creating a relentless zombie. Take this for example: Muscles need ATP to function and provide force to move the body. Since ATP usually comes by through respiration we generally have a limited supply due to a limit on our ability to intake oxygen. Now if the infection were localised around the entire body, its not impossible that the virus produces a large amount of ATP directly at the muscle site, providing the muscles with essentially unlimited amounts of ATP. Obviously there would be a larger scientific reason and wherabouts of where the virus/bacterium gets the base products, but thats all beyond me. Now since the muscles have as much ATP as they need, and the infection probably prevents growth, the body no longer needs either food nor oxygen. The virus provides the energy needed so the original ingredients aren't needed anymore. Thus you have an unrelenting infected that can run at full pace for a very long time. It would also explain the degeneration of skin, hearing, and sight as these functions need certain nutrients to maintain and since the virus is not maintinging them, at least to the full extent, they slowly get worse. The thing is, even with unlimited or lots of ATP, the infected would still be limited on the actual muscular-skeltal structure of its host. A fat farmer isn't going to run like Usain Bolt, regardless of how much energy he has. That and the fact that the infection probably can't mimic the control we have over our body perfectly, so they'd probably be slightly slower then a normal person at sprinting as they don't have the control which we learnt over many years. Running fast isn't just being fit, it's knowing how to run and its a complex skill. Obviously, there will be infected that run faster then you, but they would be in the minority. I've only played this game for a while but, currently, the infected are avoidable. I just prone and crawl to the destination. It's tedious, but I've crawled through Electro with a broken leg to find morphine without alerting a single infected. Only after I got up and crouch run did I get a couple following me. It would be nice, to speed the pace of the game up a tiny bit if crouch running didn't alert zombies so easily, if only to relieve the hideous boredom of constantly crawling. Losing zombies is also easy, running through multiple bushes until they stop following you. Please don't remove that.

Make killing an option... allow us to knock out fellow survivors :)
Louis13245 replied to jippyuk's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Or stun them, take their guns then wait for them to wake up and taunt them. Or give them the guns back and work together. After all, they've got the gun pointing at them and you have theirs. You could force them to trust you. Or force them to run into a zombie infested area as bait .Just don't turn your back afterwards. And if you want to loot them blind, they'll always have stuff that you don't need. That way, you leave the junk and move on and the other player still keeps something, just not the most valuable ones. One man's junk is another man's treasure.
