FYI for new players, when you gear up and head north, don't just bounce into a town even if a low pop server. Use your binos and scan the area from a safe distance! just wasted 2 hours going to Stary and got shot crawling to grocery store cause Im an idiot. Ugh.

Oh, lol, got spoiled by having my location on the map. Now I gotta think! lol

When I hold right click down, it zooms in, but does not bring up iron sights, checked with F key and Im on m1911, if I double tap F key, brings up iron sights.

I was spawned there and can't find on the online map. Help please.

Yeah been playing for a few weeks and think I have finally got geared up for the journey North. Im in Elektro and not sure where to go from here, but thinking making a path to the NW airfield as that seems to be the place to gun up. Here is the gear I have finally managed to get and actually live.... 1 - Win 1866 with (7) 15Rnd slugs 1 - M1911 with 3 mags, had 7 but somehow lost 4 1 - heat pack 3 - sodas 1 - empty canteen 1 - binos 1 - matches 1 - hatchet 1 - hunting knife 1 - map 1 - alice pack 1 - can sardines 1 - morphine 2 - bandages 2 - pain killers I have 5 slots left in my bag and plenty room for more 1911 ammo, so the more I think about it, think I'll make another run back into Elecktro and get some more food and 1911 mags.

Can someone explain this and how I can update please. Im Using Dayz Commander. Thanks.

well of course I died Staroye cause I assumed no one was there, NOT! responded to Otmel and finally figured out I was actually on the island, lol. Heading back to Elektro to gear up again. Also, I assumed getting the shotgun would be better cause makes less noise than AK, no?

Im in Ohio, which is GMT - 4:00, so can someone tell me or link me to how to figure out to get a daylight server when I can't play till like 8:00pm at night? Thanks. [edit] not "how" to get to one, but what GMT to shoot for.

Yeah Im thinking may skip NW airfield for now. Im still very much a newb and need to get some time in to figure things out. I try to find servers with 10 people or less cause I have a tough enough time surviving the zeds right now. Getting better each hour I play and watching a lot of videos on youtube and reading wiki. Gonna try and hook up with others once I get more comfortable with game and have more knowledge so won't be such a drag on them. Awesome game and Im so looking forward to the stand alone version!

There are servers that are protected and unprotected, should this be a concern? Also, is there a way of filtering servers? Thanks!

ah crap, trying to leave Elektro got hit by zeds, ran back to grocery and killed them, but down to 7k blood.

oh and I have a compass, thought the "k" key would bring it up but no, will figure it out after I finally get out of here.

well made it back into town and found 3 more m1911 mags and noticed I only had 1 bandage, not 2, so got another. only found 1 can of food in grocery store and gonna try to find some more cause I starved to death once before trying to hunt food.

Ok, so the hatchet is a main weapon and only way to use it is if you drop and or put in pack your other main weapon? I have a shotgun and just found a hatchet, my pack is full, but I want hatchet to cut firewood, so can I drop shotgun, pick up hatchet and place in tool belt, then pick shotgun back up....ah, gonna try it, don't know why im being such a coward, lol.

Oh so I won't need to drop main weapon to cut wood? that's awesome. Also, don't think I needed to drop main weapon to pick up hatchet as it put it right into my tool belt.

It's always US servers and got a message from one to change my name??? frankly don't know what my ingame name is or how to view it, but I would assume it would be Mark or Mark 88.
