  1. As an MMO veteran (I still have my EQ1 toons), I understand the problem of those preferring their "bubble servers". I play BF4F too but would never count it as an MMO, while dayz comes close (for me at least). And I start to miss the feeling of continuity I usually have playing on "my" MMO server knowing the playerbase a bit, having a friends/ignore list and generally being able to organize something. When the game will become stand-alone I will definitely look for a community with their private server to play and develop my character, not just gearwise but also as a RP.

    Worst 30$ spent.

I havent touched my "Arma II" yet. Still I think the 14 bucks (Steam sale) where worth the 10 adrenaline-pumping hours I spent so far on dayz. Cheaper than a horror special at the local cinema. Only drawback against the movies is that you can't even have a drink while playing, not to mention popcorn.....

Name your good deed of the day.

Today I died with an M14, a 1911 and an Alice Pack full of stuff - except for the bandage that would have saved me from bleeding to death after fighting (and eventually killing) 3 Zs So with my last breath I ran down to the beach in hope someone could make good use of my stuff. I guess that counts.

    We need a purpose.

Missions are cool but not for this kind of PVP+PVE online game. But for a stand-alone version there should be an offline version included that would need missions then of course.

Poll: DayZ or The War Z?

I am playing computer games since Fallout 1 and MMOs since Ultima and by experience I can say_ No matter how good/cool/free, all MMOs die while still in their teens But good original creative Mods live a long happy live. dayz wins. PS: I will still give warz a try - if its not the bubble I still suspect it to be...

    the mysterious creature

I could swear the thing on the left side of the OPs pick is just a can of coke...

    Is this a starving game?!

I just can't find matches but killing farm animals is not hard. EDIT: matches should definitely be in the loot table of zombies. Of all the equipment you can find on them, its probably the one thats most likely still in some pockets.

UPDATED DAILY: I'm Issuing a Warning to Any Snipers

dayz maybe a fine zombie survivial game, but it does the job of an installation to study human behaviour even better. Not taking sides, just getting the popcorn....
  9. When I first tried to escape Zs in swimming away, my temperature fell to nearly 30 and once out of the water I started coughing . I guess thats a good way to catch an infection...

zombies are bull and ruining the game

I just started playing dayz, have had less than 10 hours and allready wasted 6 characters but the Zombies themselfes are OK. As long as I am prone in tall grass they pass me by in 5-10 meters distance without noticing. Crouching for a moment can allready attract them but thats fine. What I don't get is, why the engine immideately gets them off my trail as soon as I climb a ladder. In similar games the Zs crowd at the ladder howling in frustration their prey is out of reach but in dayz....thank you sir, no more interest... But what makes the game unneccesarily tedious is the spawning and re-spawning. Apart from the fact that sometimes I have a flickering Z out of thin air right by my side that makes me waste ammo (or just wet my pants) because he never acutally spawns there, the respawning is hellish unrealistic. It should be possible to kind of clean an area - at least for longer than 5 minutes.
