  1. It's not just about dayz forums. It's simply human nature, that it's no fun being a badass (or just an ass) if there is no place to brag about it.
  2. TheStoryteller01

    The Current State Of Zombies.

You have my beans for setting up one of the few polls with simple, yet balanced questions and unbiased neutral wording. If I could I'd add a can of pasta and sardines too

How to get off Skalisty Island

Because NO ONE playing dayz would be SO stupid? Browse the forums pal, they ARE
  4. TheStoryteller01

I'd like to see it impossible to shoot unarmed players

an unarmed guy can still run you over with a car ;)

    PvE DayZ servers petition.

The map and game mechanics as they are now cannot be used for PvE servers. To make this enjoyable & challenging there needs to be content (missions, goals, the usual stuff) AND the loot has to be cut down to 10% or less. But honestly imo, the game needs to be revamped completely for PvE.

    How Was Your First Life?

It was.....very very very very very very VERY short!
  7. At 0:32 isn't that another player under the tree with a rifle aiming in the direction of the Zombie? Are you sure, he hasn't shot with a silencer at the Z? And I am not sure this wasn't your friend with a silenced sniper rifle who did help you, to set the "prove video" up....

'Realism' arguments need to be left out

Flawed logic of the OP (edit: and a lot of other posters) There is something like virtual realism. When we watch an SF or Horror movie we can only fully enjoy it, if we have a feeling that everything (well at least most) follows an inner logic. Or Robots, Androids - the Terminator - for example: Their abilities like strength, speed, damage resistance as well as the way they act has to be within parameters we can accept as "realistic" - at least within the universe the movie plays. If anything goes over the top to often or too much it can ruin the whole movie - and it does. Long running TV-shows like "Supernatural" or "Lost" also cared to be realistic within their own setting, and the viewers are very picky about that (compared to some of these forums this here is more like a tropic resort) And people playing computer games also need a certain level of virtual realism to feel the needed level of immersion - or simply enjoy the game. Why else have in game developing history 1000ds of manhours been put into replicate RL weapons as realistic as much? Personally I have not decided yet about the detail of the bonebreaking Zs, but imo players are entitled to discuss any aspect of game "realism".

Could Day Z be a successful standalone game?

As I said, I like dayz as it is now - a unique mod that allready secured it's place in modding history forever. However when the OP asked "Could Day Z be a successful standalone game?" I assume he didnt mean "amongst the readers of this forums" but out in the cold world of publishers, shareholders and sales numbers. And from that point of view, I seriously doubt, that any FPS can be sucessfull while only offering a fraction of the content any other stand-alone game (or the average 9$ DLC) does. So I might enjoy dayz for what it is. And everyone on this forums might not need a SP campaign - or even hate someone mentioning it. But it's not about us, it's about a global market. It's not about 500k fans on facebook, its about millions of potential buyers. To make the transission from cool mod to sucessful game, dayz needs a LOT more content than just MP survivial on 40-player-slot servers.
  10. In RL the OP is under 5 feet tall, thats for sure.

holy food and water requirements? Is this a bug?

Be glad, resting is no requirement yet. Otherwise you would simply starve in your sleep ;)

Stop shooting people who are Unarmed

This thread is the ultimated fail. When even trained members of mitlitary and police forces are to dumb/ignorant/sadistic/panicked/careless/trigger-happy/etc. to avoid this in RL, how can on expect that from the average online gamer????

Could Day Z be a successful standalone game?

It can, if it gets all the usual stuff that commercially sucessful shooters have: - a singleplayer offline campaign worth 10-30 hours of playing time (depending on the players skill and difficulty level) - several maps and game modes for online PvP or teamplay Right now dayz is online only with a single map and a single game mode. Thats a typical mod, which just happens to have 500k+ fans. If you think this mod is huge you should take a look at some of the stuff, people have made for NWN, NWN2, TES: Oblivion or Fallout 3. Compared with this, dayz is small fish. Don't get me wrong, I like dayz as it is now and I am willing to pay for a stable bug&hackerfree version - but we are still miles away from something that earns even the DLC tag, let alone calling it a full game.

I found the PERFECT theme for DayZ!

For online shooters THIS has always been my personal hymn:  I might add that my RL name is Daniel ;)

    Future Suggestions for Standalone DayZ

Problem is: If someone finds your car and cannot steal it, he will destroy it. So where's the gain in locking it?
  16. TheStoryteller01

    A DayZ song? Yep.

@Whiskeytown: I am not into country but your song has an undeniable quality. Well done, man! Apart from that, my personal hymn for every online shooter has always been this one ;):

Ever had a dream related to DayZ?

I can do without that :D
  18. I have just analyzed the vid and drawn my conclusions based on the result . It has nothing to do with who you are and where you play.
  19. These are clearly AI controlled, the behaviour of automaticly turning the head to the player (you can see it at the start of the vid) gives it away. A private server with some custom/hacked features is my guess.

    Fishing in Arma 3 Dayz

I can allready see the snipers camping the best fishing spots.....
  21. TheStoryteller01

What was your most annoying/worst death in DayZ?

Breaking my leg while crawling past an upturned boat. Just hillarious.
  22. TheStoryteller01

    How much would you pay?

If it includes an offline sandbox game with campaigns/missions (aka "content") and an editor, then I'd be willing to pay the same price as for Arma III.
  23. TheStoryteller01

20 words or less: Spawning without a weapon

NO! OR take the flashlight, bandage an painkillers away too. You HAVE gear or you DONT.
  24. TheStoryteller01

    Your scariest DayZ expierience

After each death I decide to take a break to check back what people are writing here on the forums. And THAT scares the shit out of me EVERY time.

    PvE DayZ servers petition.

Imo online dayz only works PvP, but for a commercial stand-alone version it should be no problem to include an offline Sandbox mode. Make it playable over LAN and you have L4D for grown ups.
