It is working right. The indicators will show up left upper corner of the screen, it will show you the status of all the items. When you find freshly spawned vehicle, from what i saw everything is in the red. It means you can still use it (assuming you got tires) but one bump and you're out. Engine needs engine parts Fuel - needs fuel tank Hull - needs scrap metal Glass - need windshield glass

Vehicle wrecks can be salvaged for parts

But that would require someone to actually redesign the whole map. ANd while i would like that, i would like to see caves before i see rivers ;)

should there be regular resets on characters
hishnik replied to vanilladragon's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I actually wasnt going to point out how stupid of an idea this is originally, when thread only had 3 pages in it. But the OP is really persistent.... Seriously, OP, think about it... And you shall see why everyone is against it. What are the main concerns you are trying to address? 1. Someone consistently having better gear than you do. 2. Everyone needs to be on same level playing wise 3. Inconvenience the hackers/dupers 4. Make sure that noone has gear saved in tents/cars for long periods of time Lets have adult discussion, without name calling: 1. Log in to a dusk/dawn/night server, move to North side of the map, Berezino, NEAF, Stary, NWAF and get yourself some nice loot. Congratulations, now you have the same gear as the people you are talking about have. 2. It's a bit along the lines of Marx/Engels/Lenin/Mao type of thinking, but lets entertain this idea nevertheless. So lets make DayZ into communist environment. If you have, same thing as everyone else, arent you at this point begining to promote mindless deathmatch? The moment reset hits, everyone rushes over to the main hubs where items are (listed in #1), and once they're loaded, they will prevent you from getting there, same way they do it now. At the same time, what is the point of you 'farming' items, if you already have everything? The point of the game right now, is to survive. So I search for items enough for me to survive (i gave up on NVG), and after i got the bare minimum (some navigational equipment like a compass, map is a plus) i just roam around looking for vehicles and trouble. 3. Just like real life, the only people you will inconvenience by introducing gun laws, or such resets, are the honest players. Hackers/Dupers will have their items the moment they want them, and it is us, the regular players who will be upset at being reset back constantly. 4. What is wrong with having tents as is? It's logical, if anything i want the ability to place tents in forests. My group of friends have multiple tents setup across the map. I have mine near the coast, so when any of my friends, or i die, we have a nearby location to grab bare minimum items to go north easier. Tents are there for a reason, and there is absolutely no point of reseting them Last point... This is alpha... You can have database issue that will reset you as is at any given point of time, no need to time it. -
"How long it takes to run from A to B"
hishnik replied to gusmanak's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That is the default run speed. Default walk speed is 100 meters/minute. Thus the point of my calculations, based on the optimal conditions, running on a straight flat terrain line -
"How long it takes to run from A to B"
hishnik replied to gusmanak's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is what i typed up for another similar thread. I timed the running a while back. It takes you about 20 seconds to cross 100m running straight on flat surface. Which puts you at about a minute per every 300m. So look at the distance, divide by 300 result is number of minutes will take you to run it, assuming you are running straight line, and on flat surface. (: What is missing is the distance, if you look at the map with gridlines, depending on the zoom, each grid is either 1km or 100m. Most of the maps when zoomed in fully will have the 1km grids. Hopefully that helps -

Any tips on finding repairable vehicles?

Heh, i can just type it in Russian, wanted to avoid it, since this is English based forums :) Few of my friends already saw motorcycles riding around NWA. I think bicycles would be awesome to have. Random spawn them around major hubs, and despawn after some time if picked up and dropped I would be okay with even repairing it, just if i can use it after Translation: Neskol'ko iz moih druzej videli kak kto-to nosilsya na motike ryadom s severnim aeroportom. The One, The Only: I HATE TEMP THREAD
hishnik replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Its you and few more people. I dont think the temp currently is implemented fully and correctly, but love the idea. This forces you to do things you would otherwise not do, slowing down your game play, and actually making those campers - CAMP. You can no longer just lay in the forest with sniper rifle waiting for someone to cross your LOS. You will get penalized for that. I do, however think that following changes would be good: 1. if running, especially sprinting, your temperature should stay still, and not drop. 2. You should be able to start fires in places like farm houses, i think i saw fireplaces in few of them anyways 3. sleeping bag or just a tent, should neutralize the temperature, and maybe even increase it at half or even a third of having a fire rate 4. You should have a counter for 'Body temp' and 'Outside temp', to help you better figure out which surroundings suck for you :) This way, if for instance the body temp is much lower than outside temperature, you lose it quickly, however, the closer it gets to the outside one, the slower the loss becomes. Similar to laws of physics ;) -

The One, The Only: I HATE TEMP THREAD
hishnik replied to rocket's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Didnt see this mentioned before, but i say you add an increased chance of catching a cold from interracting with a corpse of a player who had a cold, for first 5 minutes of their death. As a final parting gift to someone who killed you by hearing you :) -
Ditto on that. My setup is: i7-980x GTX480 SLI x2 24GB DDR3 tripple channel kit SSD for OS 7200 rpm drive for gaming Win 7 64-Bit Generally i get flat 60FPS (vsync on), today i dropped to as low as 30FPS.

Shotgun bullets must be same (12 gauge).
hishnik replied to ChapYurin's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Have you used pellets against zombies' date=' hell, even players? They're insane. You can take out 3-4 zombies with single shot. But i do agree, there are MUCH less pellets generally than slugs. Because zombie apocalypse is so realistic, really dude? -
Some suggestions for the future (from an Arma RPG player)
hishnik replied to bayers's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I am really into the radio idea. THought about it for a while now. I think it would be great to have stationary radio's at major hubs. And low chance posibility to find mobile radio, maybe even make it require batteries. But i think it would be great to have that (Just like you had them in Life mod) To start you can have them set to one frequency, and if people use, maybe even allow to change the frequency. Would definitely bring a certain 'survivor' aspect :) -
Funny, just 30 minutes before your post i mentioned this in another thread. http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=4180&pid=45032#pid45032 I think it would be awesome for RP and gameplay to have that ability. You can leave notes, short notes, saying "Survivors meet North in Novij Sobor" or "gone to woods near ozerko", or "Will try to hold Zub" and have people follow you. And this can be both good and bad. Yes, you are exposing yourself to bandits, but by same token you could have friendlies come by you. And i dont think it should be done just anywhere, put it in the main cities with main spawn rooms. High traffic area's that is.

There are few silent guns. MP5SD and M9SD come to mind first. One pistol, one submachine gun

ONE Server for All DayZ players! (MMOFPS)
hishnik replied to poudjik's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
As some one mentioned earlier. 7000 people online at once, in one place... Think abuot it Let me put it in perspective, Cherno is about 1kmx1km. With even 5 people having a shootout there, it's a madhouse... You are talking about putting 7000 people in a 225square km... That is 31 people per each km... You grasping the reality yet? :) -
Game Design Analysis: Why Cross-Server persistency must die

Lol, i guess you wouldnt be writing that paper. That isnt the underlying reason behind the killing sprees. Only a small percentage of people kill because they can/want to. Majority of bandits become such as part of self defense, come aroudn the corner to ask if friendly or not, and have fire opened up on you.. You end up being a better/luckier shot, and you're a bandit now. The underlying reason is lack of trust. People dont trust each other, and for variety of reasons, whether its 'you will take my good loot' or 'you can kill me if you need beans'. Look at the looting procedures, half the time people stop being cautious just because loot is around... Thats all i was saying... And life was def a good example of what happens when you empower someone :)
