I don't think anyone here at all has mentioned the word "fun". You can act smug with your straw man there, but it's simply not true. No one here wants the game to be more fun - they want it to be more realistic (or as someone said; "not goofy"). No one is talking about whether it's fun or not to go into town to collect wood or to have to use a hatchet to cut down a tree to make wood (seriously, wtf? Has anyone ever cut down a tree to make a giant bonfire just to cook some meat?). Everyone is simply saying that it's really immersion breaking, because that's just not at all how real life works. I know that some people whine about everything and some people feel entitled or whatever, but I haven't seen people in this thread do that. I've got to assume that people are allowed to give constructive criticism of the mod, otherwise there wouldn't be a forum.

You might want to consider taking a logic class. The complaint is that IRL there is wood freely and abundantly available in forests which requires no tools to obtain, while in game there is currently no wood in the forest and that later, it seems, wood in the forest will only be obtainable with tools.

Temperature isn't the problem... it's starvation.

Food and water being used offline

I'm still not quite sure what this 'feature' adds. Certainly not realism - if you're going to become hungry and thirsty while logged off, you should also be able to die from hunger and thirst (and zombies and players) while logged off. Logging off means you're no longer in the game world, so why should you suffer the effects of the game world? Also, when weather effects (eg hypothermia) are put in game, will you be freezing to death when you come back in game? I mean, if you've been starving while not there, surely you should be freezing if you've been outside the whole time, too. Though, I'm not sure how this could be modelled - you'd have to know whether it's rained during the time the player's been logged off. It just seems inconsistent with the rest of the game. It also means that, should I run out of food and water, and on my way to find some, real life interferes and I have to log off, I can be certain that when I log back in I'll be as good as dead. I don't want to pressure the devs into making the game something that they don't want to be, but I want to make them consider why they've made certain design choices and also, why, if a design choice such as starving when logged out is desired, consistency isn't applied whereby players spawn dead when they log back in. The only reason I see for this design decision is an attempt at realism (or an attempt at being an "anti-game" for the sake of it), in which case you should just kill players who haven't logged in for a few hours. -

The NZ1 server doesn't appear to be saving character information (it says that it is, but I've been killed twice and spawned inland with all my gear back - other people have confirmed this). Is this an issue for all servers or just the NZ server? I can't get on the other Aussie servers (all full) to check and I don't want to risk dying on a foreign server with a crap ping. It's been not saving for the past few hours.

I'll try it tonight. I know that maxing HDR is meant to help, but I literally can't see a thing on clear nights even with gamma and brightness maxed. Surely HDR can't make literally a night and day difference?

Damn, I missed that; must have been thinking of another game, so I never tried it, lol. Thanks :)

Sorry, but that's just not right. Unless the ingame revolver ammo is .45 Colt, I can't see how this could be the case (1911 ammo is .45 ACP). There are many revolvers that fire .45 ACP and .45 ACP is the same whether it's used in a revolver or an autoloader.

In a zombie apocalypse, who's really going to have to go to work during the day? While I think that pitch black nights could be fun for a little bit, the fact is that most people work during the day and only have time to play at night. Playing at night isn't fun when you can't see your hand in front of your face and need to throw/carry your limited supply of flares to move a short distance and then be stuck in the darkness. If the desire is to make the game unappealing to players, why not make it eternally night with no weapons but a Makarov and require you to eat and drink every minute? If the goal is realism, make it so that on the dark nights with no cloud cover, it's realistically dark (i.e. you can see a few metres in front of you, rather than you literally cannot see anything). No one here is asking for blue-tinged day-lighting for nights. Those who are saying the game should remain unplayable on dark nights clearly have no desire for realism and simply want the game to be frustrating and unplayable for the sake of it.
