  1. Take a look at this three minute video, and help me understand a few issues. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFcB1_2u1P0 1) Why does the hatchet have no effect 90% of the time? 2) How is the bandit able to float around? 3) Why didn't the bandit float around the second time he lept? 4) Why did his body and the nearby zombies despawn when he hit the ground? 5) Why had he come back to life on the ground, just to die again? 6) Why was only his backpack available to loot? 7) Why did his dead body despawn again?

    Can somebody explain this?

Wow, I had no idea the edits YouTube would make would do that. Horrible. Reverted to original.

Day Z - The Novel (In Progress)

This is Fifty Shades of Gray quality. You should stick to writing in your first language.

    US 373 pussies

Original post said one person didn't Alt-F4, which has been confirmed. That the rest of the group didn't Alt-F4 has yet to be refuted.
  5. I like stories like these.

    US 373 pussies

You have no proof that they're hackers. They made a claim, and had zero proof until you showed up and didn't bother to refute it. Instead, you accused them of hacking without providing any proof.

So the side that alt-f4'd doesn't deny it, but does accuse the other side of hacking. Classy.

    You are full of shit.

The ALT-F4 fix doesn't prevent server hopping, it prevents people from quickly logging out while being chased by zombies or other players. Server hopping is just logging out from one server and joining another. There's no fix to prevent that, other than knocking you out for 10 minutes when it's detected.
  9. I'm fairly certain this is exactly the environment intended.
  10. Grown men who share a love for a children's cartoon who want to have a super secret meeting... Oh, NAMBLA, you can't hide from us.

The Story of the Mountain Dew.

The game should be called DayP.
  12. I offered to help somebody with a blood transfusion. He wanted to give me a weapon for it, but I declined. I was unarmed, but I was finally in a situation to help somebody rather than hurt them. I ascended the stairs to the top of the fire station, but on the second to last floor I heard a THUMP. He had died a moment too soon. So I took his stuff.
  13. You can't make claims without some way to prove it. I can't call somebody a hacker without providing chat logs where it's admitted, video proof where it's witnessed, or some other form of evidence. CoRe CaN't EiThEr.

Try this: 1. Run DayZ through Six Launcher 2. Grow up 3. Stop being a dick
  15. Labels wont work, they never do. There simply aren't enough labels, or conditional statements with which to apply them. If I happen across a tent filled with goodies, am I a thief for taking a few? A bandit? What if it's a bandit's tent? What if they're my items I'm stealing back from a bandit? Or my items I'm just happening across that somebody else found after I was eaten alive by zombies? What if I kill my friend by accident? Am I a bandit then? They probably wont care, because I can keep his stuff safe in the meantime. What if somebody comes along and tries to take his stuff? Does shooting them make me a bandit if I'm not interested in their gear? Contextual clues would be the better alternative. If a player loots a corpse, they become bloody. There's a story behind it and the player is open to make their own assumption, or come to their own conclusion. What other clues can there be for players who just want to snipe other for fun? Ghillie suits are a good start. What about players that enjoy cooperation and helping others? Perhaps some visible piece of equipment? Of course there's always two sides to the same coin, but that's intended.
  16. Go easy on the OP, he admitted he's new to DayZ and PC gaming in general. My opinion: scavenging is all part of the fun, and zombies can be avoid easily enough. They only walk when they've entered buildings, so it's not difficult to find a barn or werehouse and give them the slip. In fact, their pathing inside barns seems to be broken, so they typically walk to the top floors while you're crouched on the ground floor. The one thing you need: www.dayzdb.com/map With this map, you can locate the high value barns, the large green circles, around the southern shore and locate weapons pretty easily. Fire houses and deer stands are also good places to search, although deer stands can be death traps if you happen to climb one with zombies on your tail hoping to find a weapon at the top.
  17. I've done that before. It's part of the horrible ARMA 2 control scheme. Go prone? No, pessing Z makes you slide to first base.
  18. How to start: You're dead, because you thought you could scare somebody and they shot you.
  19. I shot a bandit in the head with the M24. No one hit kill. Not even a kill after shooting him in the chest. He ended up taunting me, and I killed us both with a grenade.

ArmA 2 engine for DayZ's future?

I do. The textures are all shit; on the landscape, objects, and across other player characters. The difference between Low and Very High settings is how blurry the horrible textures appear. Post-processing effects? THAT GRASS LOOKS AMAZING. And the animations are the worst.

ArmA 2 engine for DayZ's future?

This is also something that concerns me greatly. ARMA 2 engine is garbage, and you can see it in DayZ. The controls are horrible, the movement is horrible, the AI is horrible, the sound effects are horrible, the gun play is horrible, the graphics are horrible, and the etc is horrible. ARMA 2 is a boat that was half-sunk before it sailed, and we're all expected to jump on board? I know a lot of people who really enjoy this game, but they wont put up with the horrid game play and constant bugs for much longer.
  22. OP has worst advice ever. If you've got guns and the willingness to waste your ammo, just turn around and shoot them. No tree necessary. No time wasted. If you want to do it without wasting your ammo, just drag them through a barn or other large building. Barns are great for confusing zombies, although I'm not sure if this is a bug or not. Most of the time they'll wander to the top floors, regardless of whether or not you actually went up there.
