The benefits of playing on a private hive server...
ACOGshot replied to Foxcat (DayZ)'s topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Benefits of playing on a private hive, from my experience, MORE hackers. It is more fun until they ruin it though, you are right. -
FR35 Admin has bad taste, but unfortunately buddy, joining the dark side doesn't make you a winner, especially if you don't know how to do it properly. Maybe next time you will just leave the server and forget about the douchebag you thought was hacking, it aint your problem to fix.

I like watching from afar for a while, see what you are doing, and then I'll either go on my way or head down for an ambush. I will spare the player if he's completely unarmed 95% of the time, but if you are holding a piece then you are as good as dead.

So this fix works this time? Awesome, can't wait to try it out!

Should we remove barbed wire in the next update

Is it DayZ hive or private hive? -
So it's night out. A newbie's overview to playing past 8:00.
ACOGshot replied to amaROenuZ's topic in New Player Discussion
Yup, press L when your gun is out. It is very dangerous to use in built up areas as it creates as much light as a flare but in a more focused beam, so you can be spotted more easily, but you can also use this to your advantage if you spot someone, shining the light in someones face will pretty much blind them at night, even more so if they have NVG's. -
I agree. NVG's are nice, and give you one hell of an edge, but wouldn't it just be more fun if everyone was in the same boat?
-
Chemlights are very handy for night time play, they will light up the immediate area around you without giving away your postion (and blinding you) like a flare will, because they aren't visible from far away. I recommend blue, they give the best effect at night.

DE 1306 - Threatens to ban + kill for pvp / random kicks
ACOGshot replied to BluBH's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I had a weird experience on that server too. I killed a guy who carelessly ran through the middle of an open field with an AS50 on his back, I saw his name come up as 'killed' in the left corner, so I started strolling to him to collect my reward (the one and only gun i've never owned) when I suddenly noticed his corpse moving, so I dropped to the floor to be greeted by what appeared to be 3 shots from an AS50 from the direction of the dead player I just killed, he had somehow respawned in the location he just died armed to the teeth again and made short work of me. I was kicked from the server around 10 minutes after. I remember his name but I won't say it as nothing will be done anyway and its pointless naming him. Unrelated yes, weird server, YES. I always assumed PvP was part of the game and changing the game in any way was against the agreement of getting a server. I'll keep killing on them til I get banned anyway, this game is all about PvP. -
Can you get banned for using a custom skin?
ACOGshot replied to Dariooo's topic in New Player Discussion
Probably. It aint a game mechanic so... -
People are gonna keep saying it because this thread is OVER ONE HUNDRED pages. I bet less than 1% will read 2% of it.

Solo Group Hunting and Endgame [Tips Tricks and Tactics]
ACOGshot replied to tiptoptopper@gmail.com's topic in New Player Discussion
True dat! I had to ditch my M4A1 CCO SD because I struggled like hell to find STANAG SD for it (finding the L85A2 AWS made it an easier decision though). I am trying out the G17 properly as a result of this thread btw, seems very decent, and the flashlight is fun for trolling in the dark (less hassle than switching in your flashlight). -

Decent guide. Massive props on the M14 AIM, its fantastic and widely misunderstood. The only criticism I would have would be the G17, I find that the clips can be somewhat of a pain in the backside to get and if you are going for a rarer weapon, you should maybe choose the M9 SD, its silencer makes it almost a must for trackers, although preferably the M1911 is the choice for me, bullets pair up with the revolver, and are found in every settlement, not to mention the damage output is higher than any other handgun (except the revolver ofc, but the revolver is so damn loud). I'm also a massive believer in frag grenades, another underused weapon with devastating capabilities. -
Plenty of decent servers out there mate. As a rule of thumb, try not to exceed 10-15 players on a server, that way it will be very rare that you meet a 'hacker'. I've been playing for a couple months now and I very rarely meet hackers, infact the only time I have has been on the high 30+ servers. The PvP is a little slower paced but the game is very very playable.

DayZ: Afternoon glimpse into the Wet Bandits
ACOGshot replied to WaldoDude`'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I thought they were going by the name 'Sticky Bandits' these days? -
DayZ is a mod, not a game. Rocket didn't create Arma2, so how can he fix every exploit opportunity? I agree that DayZ has issues, but the bigger issues at hand are the terrible artifacts that still haven't been fixed, just shrugged off and barked at. Well whatever, I think sometimes he needs to remember that without the community playing his mod, he wouldn't have his dream job. Hackers aren't a massive problem anyway, only if you play on the super-high pop servers. Play on the 10-20 servers like I do, plenty of fun, not seen a (successful) hacker in weeks.
-
Yeah, that is rare mate, I'd have shot you on sight and then took all your stuff too. Nice guys usually end up with a bullet in the face.
-
Duct-tape a torch to your gun.
-
True, I brushed a tree with a car once and died, but then it was red on almost every indicator, my own fault tbh.
-
Yeah, make the game easier...
-
I agree. I find being a bandit one of the more fun elements of the game. If you die, you probably weren't being careful enough, it's not the fault of the guy who shot you, watch your six next time buddy.

What was his name?

Since nobody seems interested in your post, I will give you some beans, just to reassure you that someone has read it :P
