Rocket standing down from Dayz by end of year
tommes replied to Hetstaine's topic in General Discussion
I don't know what the trouble is here. Dean has fathered a child. It will grow up without him parenting it until maturity. Maybe even better than under his influence. Who knows? He abandoned the mod back then and it still grows by the power of the community. Actually it started to thrive after he did. There have been like months without any development until Rocket finally could bring himself to let others take over. And even if DayZ is gonna go to shit...play some other game! You will be bored by it at some point anyway. -
Is it too much to ask for smooth controls?
tommes replied to infiltrator's topic in General Discussion
The controls in SA are overall way better than in the mod. The acceleration thingy should be fixed but I have no problems by just setting my mouse to low by the buttons on my G5. It's still annoying to find the "interaction spot" of some doors and gates. I guess that can be fixed. -
Oldest tactic to go on low pop to gear up. Nothing wrong with it. For me it's just not much fun running around alone. The NWAF ain't that much of a hotzone any more. Especially on low pop servers there's probably no one except rabbits and some Zeds.

I don't see it that way. It is not broken. It is merely unfinished. As the whole game in it's present state. You know, it's alfer... -

There was never supposed to be an end game in DayZ. Rockets idea was about having you fight out of a desperate situation. If your situation isn't desperate anymore you sort of beat the game. You should kill your character and start again. -

I never touched that mockery of a game because it was quite obvious that it was a scam. So if you try to argue about something I suggest you don't mention you've been falling for that. Undermines the value of your opinion heavily. -

It was a core feature in the beginning of DayZ. Permadeath...one hive for all...that was the specialty of this particular game. That feature is not dumb. There are issues to be solved with it. It is an early alpha, as you acknowledge every time starting up DayZ SA. There will be private hives in the future. If that's your preferred way of playing, just hold out and be fine. -
Anyone have any problems with ammo disappearing?
tommes replied to Johnny Depth's topic in General Discussion
They might be just in the room below...if there's one and accessible. The issue seems not to be restricted to ammo only. Just lost my medical box yesterday when I tried to put it on the floor on 1st floor of a hospital. Unluckily the space below isn't accessible. -
He didn't eat them. ^^

You can always fade out the music or whatever. Anything's better than that abrupt stop.

You need to make the footage end with the song.

That makes it as true as the Bro Code.

You haven't played the mod, have you? It's probably going to be like with vehicles there. They exist on that particular server only. About buildings in general is all I heard from rocket that there won't be overground buildings but maybe you can barricade an already existing structure. But letting players build stuff has issues. A lot of guys are dickheads and will block off high value loot zones or whatever just to piss of other players. So they gotta be careful with that mechanic. But Rocket is aware of that. -

This discussion started on a weird premise. The public hive offers the feature of being able to play with YOUR one an only character, which you're supposed to care about, to any server participating in it. That itself is a great thing and was somewhat new in gaming. Sure there are issues with this feature, like combat logging and ghosting, but this can be dealt with in some way or another. There are several systems out there for the mod to deal with this, like logoff timer. Yet OP insists that the public hive idea itself is inherently broken and that the non-existence of a feature gives one something special. Weird thinking. tl&dr The hive is a feature. Problems can be dealt with. You weird! -

Yesterday I tried to emtpy a few of those aftermarket 5.56 mags (two loaded with 10 shots each and one with 20 bullets). I had no loose 5.56 bullets but an ammo box with 2 boxes (still wrapped) of 5.56 bullets. I had also 2 30 round mags clipped together in regular inventory. The bullets from these mags never showed up in my inventory or anywhere else. -
is there a link that has all the signs labeled and explained?

How about you find a textmarker or spray can and go at it, tiger? You know, the Chernarussian government takes it's time on globalization hence virtually all of the official population went Zed... -
Now we need the Blaser R93 Tactical! I've got my hands onto one once. Just beautiful! You can operate the lever with your pinky easily. Awesome engineering.

I corrected that for you. You're welcome.

I wear a cowboy hat because it looks cool. Real men do it without protection. ^^

Need som help upgrading a lowend computer
tommes replied to jaloswe's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
More cores won't help you with DayZ and most other games. More GHz will. If you can afford it right now, get a SSD right away. This will boost overall system performance like booting and starting programs and stuff. The Arma games profit from a fast HDD way more than any other game. You can easily take the drive to a new system when that time has come. -
Just 2¢ from someone who has used these weapons in his day job

Many a corpse has been lead to decomposition by that crap of an AK-47. -
Be very very very careful with ambient sounds!

It's not crap. It's great for what it's supposed to be. Accuracy is good enough for 200m, where most of the shooting without scopes is happening anyway. The 7.62x39 caliber is also very effective in said range while being easy to control. Shot an AK-47 single handedly gangsta style with no problems. It does the job and that reliably. I'd pick it up for combat anytime. For a shooting competition though a pimped out AR-15 type rifle sure is the better pick.
