  1. Yeah, DayZ has it's charme in the beginning. Enjoy it as long as it lasts.
  2. If the core loop of the game would be fun you wouldn't have to make up stuff to enjoy it. Example: Chess. You don't need a story to have fun playing it. Or back in the day Counterstrike. Played that for years and it never got really boring even though gameplay is very limited. You only need more and more of stuff if the core loop ain't fun. Look up the term "core loop"! It's a big thing in game design. The core loop of DayZ is flawed, because it takes too long for too little reward. At least for many players who then in return create the KoS problematic which then breaks the first loop (gearing up) of others. So players piss of other players by the very core mechanics of the game. That's the flaw. People still believe there's a way out of that by adding more to the first loop...but it will only prolong that at best while others will make it their mission to break that loop into small pieces just as they did back then, do now and will do as long as they enjoy shooting others.
  3. Well, what are you going to do with your friends? Kit yourself and then find someone to shoot. Or you get found by other guys and you have to shoot them for some reason. Sure you can avoid contact easily...but to what point? Makes no sense in a multiplayer game. Either way you end up hostile encounters with like 99% of the playerbase outside your self assembled community. Everything else is just something to keep you distracted until you reach that point again. So for every single thing you can do in DayZ there's a better alternative. Even...or especially for watching landscape. Go the fuck outside, dude!
  4. I've read into it and realized right at the beginning that reading on isn't worthwhile. Just like I realized that playing DayZ is a huge waste of time. Some people just need a little longer to come to conclusions. I didn't touch anybody's opinion. How could I anyway? I was merely stating that DayZ is too much crossover of genres it can't be good in any compartment and won't be as a whole. You might enjoy the wide variety of menial tasks keeping you busy until there's a firefight, but I don't see a point to them. And I see no possible solution for a long long time. Zeds are shit if they aren't dumb but many and don't move like jerking spastics. Don't see that coming in the next 2 years. Maybe later. Then gameplay could shift more to the PvE side...if they find a solution to the core flaw of players being dicks because players are dicks because it's the only way they for them can have fun. One possible solution would be to drive away all the shooter guys. I'm off and I suggested to other shooter guys to follow my example because DayZ is not a good shooter game anyway. And it's a terrible coop game because of all the triggermaniacs. The concepts just don't mix well. That's a core flaw. It can't be fixed, only maybe avoided by enforcing according rules.

    My ultimate friendly outfit

    There is no non-KoS outfit.
  6. I skipped most of what you wrote because it's irrelevant. How about you read posting #1 again and find some reason why DayZ will not suck and share that epiphany instead of creating this ironyception of opinion? Other than that I'm not interested in interaction with you.
  7. There's none. Now stop embarrassing yourself by stating your opinion, that my opinion should not have been stated...in a message board explicitly made for people to state their opinions. That's the core concept of such boards and even though the majority of users are pricks, the core concept works pretty well. Maybe DayZ needs clear topics and moderators...
  8. Those won't stop popping up.
  9. I forced nobody. You jumped at it. Seems like you've been attracted by my meatwhip. Sorry it hurt you. Feel free to leave.
  10. That won't change until they find a way of enforcing a more cooperative playstyle...which I don't see happening...ever.

[POLL] Do you regret buying the SA?

I voted "no" though I won't play it anymore.
  12. It's quite obvious that you don't get my point. And you're not the only one. That's why I keep posting. A few got it. You didn't. DayZ will never be what you guys hope it to be...unless your standards are not high. That might very well be the case and you might very well be entertained by DayZ for many hours. You will see some day if I'm right or not. Do you have even the slightest idea what specialized message boards are for? Maybe you should think about that for a while before you complain about someone opening a thread stating his opinion.
  13. I have an idea of the future of the game and I share it hereby. You guys still are blinded by hope. You think more content will increase interaction between players. It won't. Why should it? there will be guns. The strategy of eliminating a thread before it can hit you will always be be safest one. No amount of boring things to do inbetween will change that...unless it drives away all the players who are rather not into role play. Then don't read it. I forced nobody.
  14. I don't care much about how succesful this game is or will be. It already made it's profit. People here most likely already bought it and are playing it. I just want to share my thoughts. As I said in reply to some other post, posting here is overall more exciting than average DayZ gameplay for me.
  15. On what grounds? All that stuff to add in? It won't change a bit. Strangers will still be shot. Out of fear or fun. Doesn't matter. An inbetween you will do a lot of running&looting with probably always too dumb Zeds in too low numbers to be really challenging because present technology can't handle that amount yet.
  16. That's right. That kept me as long as it did. That's the appeal. But in my book it's just too much hassle to get there. I never asked for advice. I know what to do. I'm not whining or complaining or making suggestions to make it a better game. No. I just share my opinion that DayZ just can't be fixed. It will always be a compilation of a lot of rather not exciting (boring) things to do even more spoiled by frustrated guys with guns. And that interaction will be very limited and most likely unfulfilling unless you have it with your buddies in Teamspeak. And that won't change unless all triggerhappy people are driven out by the ever more increasing compilaton of lameplay that is on the roadmap.
  17. There are many people with lower expectations than mine. That's why there's still a lot of players in DayZ. It has some appeal. There are people buying games like Agriculture Simulator, Tram Simulator, Deer Hunter and whatnot...and DayZ is developing into a probably mediocre compilation of all of those, maybe with a grain of Shitting and Disease Simulator added to the mix. If you enjoy that, be my guest. Have fun! I wont.
  18. The core will be the same. I'll check back every few months or so.
  19. Get the fuck out of my thread then. Didn't invite you. It's Alfer! So it can be any crap. STFU!
  20. You are one smart motherfucker, aren't you? Well, you aren't. DayZ exists since about April 2012. It was crappy shit then but exciting crappy shit. But it's been figured out now. It's not exciting anymore. And the core of it is flawed. It always was. Look up "KoS" here! You'll get a million threads. That won't change. Some want to grind, some want to kill. You'll let both onto the same playground and it will be a whining mess because it's unforfilling for both. Now add the pace of a slug race to it and you'll have the core of DayZ. You can spend your time with more excitement. Even posting in this thread is more exciting than playing DayZ...except for a few moments.
  21. Yeah, Dean realized it too. DayZ will never be what he had in mind. And it will never be nearly as great as everyone imagines it to be after full release. It can't. You'll still run around for even less scraps for hours just to meet some guy who doesn't want to interact with or will just want to kill you. That core aspect won't change. There'll be only more fancy shit around to cover that. I was playing SA now for like 30 hours. I'll gave it a try. I'll found the few fun moments don't outweigh the long periods of boredom. And if you listened to where DayZ is heading, it will rather be more of that boredom circle and less of the firefighting part I enjoy much more. You might enjoy that. A lot of people enjoy games I'd not touch but Candy Crush offers more excitement than DayZ...and it's fucking unforgiving. I'm level 525 now. Even Flappy Bird has a much higher level of density. 5 minutes Flappy Bird equals 15 hours of DayZ in terms having ecxitement. I'm not trolling. I just give you my opinion. Why are you reading it? Didn't invite you. It's an early alpha opinion so don't give me shit for it even if it's fundamentally flawed!
  22. I was completely off gaming for more than a year because everything "traditional" out there just sucked imo. DayZ made me buy a new machine and enjoying something new for a while. But know the magic is lost...or it's just too much nothing inbetween the shows. In retrospect, the magic was always spoiled by a lot of cheap bullshit. DayZ always was full of flaws. It always were the few special moments making you forget about the hours of boredom.
  23. Surviving is easy once you figured out the mechanics. Don't stay at the coast. Go inland. Wait for server restart. Go low pop servers and everything is served on a platter. No challenge there. Just a lot of time taken by running around an empty landscape. That bores the hell outta me. I deliberatly joined high pop servers. Experimental and hardcore. The amount of fun compared to the time invested is poor at best. I'm not angry. I don't really plan on leaving. I just had some thoughts lurking in the back of my mind and the session today made them pop out. If you still get excited about DayZ you're in this early phase of a relationship, where everything is new and exciting, but I've done the mother often enough to see behind the mascara. Those scars can't be fixed. You just don't see em yet. Have fun while it lasts!
  24. You won't find one. You'll have to make it yourself. Then you will have to get past the other players with your plans. Meanwhile you've spent a couple of hours to just even get to the point where making plans is an option...
  25. Nothing of that will change the core. If you'd want to make that game really work, you'd have to change the core of it dramatically. Either to some coop game or more towards shooter. Right now it's bad in both departments. But if you change the core, it won't be a survival simulator anymore. It won't be what Dean had in mind.
