Wild birds and their use in game.
tommes replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Vultures over dead bodies would be nice. -
Arma2 and DayZ profit from fast I/O speeds.
-
You should run everything on an SSD if you can. With 64 Gig this will NOT be possible. I have an 128 GB SSD with Win7, Arma2 CO and DayZ and a few minor programs installed and I have only 50 GB left. I'm already over 64 GB if you noticed with nothing big installed but Arma2 with 16.7 GB. Of course you can install other programs on you regular HDD, but won't have much of the speed advantage of the SSD when starting or running these....and that advantage is massive. You will never want any spinning disks if you once tasted something like an SSD!
-
Sorry Bro, but not that smart. Having the OS on a SSD will improve boot times and startup of ANY programm A LOT! If you don't install your OS on the SSD you could as well rip it out of your system.
-
The system is pretty good. However I would upgrade that SSD to at least 128 GB. 64 Gigs is a bit low for Win7. FPS in DayZ oftenly depend on the server and it's load. So no guarantee there that FPS won't go down in certain situations.

Survivors hero's bandits and CANNIBALS

So then they would be killed with a reason. -
Will this computer run it? Please help
tommes replied to The Friendly Bandit's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For DayZ you should get something with a SSD and the fastes CPU you can afford. "Dedicated Graphics Card" does not provide enough information. It should be really decent one to play any sort of 3D game. -
Get DayZ Commander and update.
-
For Arma2-based games CPU and SSD. For any other game video card.
-
The guy with the bandit skin could have gotten it by just defending himself or others. The whole skin changing thing is rather stupid and should be abandoned.
-
You can't talk to some random dudes on the server in TeamSpeak.
-
The community does not have to make it. Rocket is right now.

Making squad game play much more manageable and effective.
tommes replied to ImCptCrunch's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
An optional nametag without the distance displayed and only working maybe up to 50 meters would be nice. Maybe it could be working only with players you've seen before and marked as recognized. Would be more plausible than peripheral dots, at least for servers with low skill settings. -
Nothing new and not entertaining.
-
I drop it for an axe anytime. Hopefully the new one will be useful.

>is about starting Arma >realizes there's a beaner right in front

That's called practice.

Medieval Style (Swords or heavy armor against zombies and their claws)
tommes replied to trexeth's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I never heard of any regulations of medieval melee weapons. Not even here in Germany where gun laws are very strict. I agree on beeing them rare and not really necessary. Implementing them would only be about diversity. -
The long runs of boringness give you a much higher kick when you finally get into action. Ever got ambushed while running through a forest? Makes you pumping with adrenaline in an instant. In regular shooter games you start with a weapon get in a firefight within 30 seconds to the point where you don't care anymore about being shot at. In DayZ even seeing another player in the distance gets you excited. Silence makes you value sounds more.

Everyone is a bandit on Namalsk
tommes replied to Rick the Survivor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You have to if they go to Cherno, Elektro or if they move their eyebrow. ^^ -
Every survivor is a threat or a loot pile. If he is not yet, he is striving to get one by picking up all my loot I didn't come to pick up yet. So better dispatch him now. It's like keeping vermin population down. Just to make it clear, I personally don't shoot beaners off the coast or other weaklings as long as they don't ask for it by annoying me. I just elaborated the mind of a KoS-anybody-bandit.

How long will it take till your bored of SA?
tommes replied to Michaelvoodoo25's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Just don't play 5+ hours a day and you'll be fine for a long time. -
Haven't encountered one either for a long time. But I don't play that much and mostly the custom maps anyway. The trick is probably not to join populated servers. Hackers tend to look for high player count because they need an audience.
-
For a bandit any survivor is a threat or a loot pile. Unarmed players will gear up an get a threat, so better take care of them right away. It's like keeping vermin down. They're just stealing your loot you didn't come to pick up yet. Yeah, that's really annoying. And hearing the shots doesn't help that. And that's also why snipers are so hated. If you can see your opponent and even shoot at him but die anyway it's not so bad.

Why player numbers increase so fast these days?
tommes replied to msy's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rocket answered to this question in some thread. He thinks because of the new update more servers report their users correctly. So user numbers didn't actually go up that much. They just weren't that accurate before.
