But they sure made a nice wheel with really good performance. Something BI failed to deliver yet.

If somebody released a bug free DayZ with decent performance then kudos! Ripped off or not, BI has to deliver. If they don't nobody is gonna wait for them too long.

I want to be able to pick the color of my floating orb so I can make sure it makes me look fabulous! -
The heart of the problem is not that Zeds are difficult. It's they're ridiculous. Spastic, random and totally weird. That makes them mostly annoying. This probably can't be fixed for the mod unless you really go to the core like maybe in DayZ Aftermath. For SA though Zeds will be completely reworked. Hopefully.

You are not alone. So your personal enjoyment is not the only valid criterium. It has explained several times how there are very very few populated FPV only servers out there. Most prominent reason is probably because most players tend to use what is possible regardless of anything else. In other words, leave people the choice and they tend to make the one for their personal comfort which often enough contradicts what would be better for overall gameplay. In even other words...many people rather avoid any challenge because easy feels better. Then even the FPV lovers get sucked in because they don't want to play alone. Another point is, with no 3rd person view anymore devs would be forced to make 1st person better. In my opinion this would be the best way. Make 1st person good enough that nobody will miss 3rd person! 3rd person view is a crutch anyway.

For a reason. -
Of which a lot of content is unfocused and made up by our brain. Focussed is only a relatively small spot. This FOV thing is a problem for every FPS type of game hence only a few can afford 3 monitor setups. But in most of those games TPV isn't really missed. Why is that? It's mostly because usually you compensate the lack of FOV with rapid mouse (head) movement to quick check the otherwise blindspots. For this to work properly you need decent framerates. Actually you need really good framerates. Drops under 60 fps really feel bad. Then there's DayZ with like the worst framerates of this decade so far. I bet a FOV of like 90° and like 100 fps and not many would complain about FPV that much any more.

Good point. I believe that many players aren't even aware of the problem or maybe just don't care because they're used to adapting to weird game mechanics and just don't question it further. People can be very ignorant. It may be like that Joker meme: as long as everything happens according to plan... -

Make a rollercoaster for everyone and it wouldn't be rollercoaster anymore but sort of a miniature train giving you exactly zero thrills. -
What is the point in dressing anyway if I can't see my clothes? Present computer games are not the Matrix, yes, but having a magic flying camera 4m away from your body is a really really dirty fix for that problem. And it causes major problems to the point where common infantry tactics are made invalid. In a military simulation with the original purpose of training soldiers! They should come up with something better.

What the OP wants is a Hunger Games type of game. I'd like that too. Fuck Zombies! They're essentially retarded NPCs. What's so great about that anyway? I'd even go so far to say that DayZ probably would be be better without Zeds in their current state. Shut up the fuck about Wasteland please! Thank you.

Some people can't ride rollercoasters. Is the solution to that making "motion sickness free" rollercoasters? Would that even be a rollercoaster? I'm sorry for everbody disabled but you can't re-enable them for everything. If so, they wouldn't be disabled anymore in the first place. -

Blindness. After this thread one may be lead to believe some mental disability might be involved... :) -

Sure. Nobody would really care much about TPV if DayZ was a single player or co-op game. But it isn't. I'd say the main part of it is about competitive PvP even if you are trying to avoid it. And exactly that is transformed into something not plausible by having TPV enabled. -

I don't think that will solve much because I believe that the majority of server admins is aware of the most prominent settings as nametags, waypoints and probably TPV. -

Here's the lates clip from nickbunyun playing Wasteland. I usally like this guy and found his videos entertaining...but this one rather makes me sick. It shows everything that's wrong playing with 3rd person view enabled. See stuff you shouldn't be able to see without changing your position drastically, stalk enemies while totally behind cover, pre-aiming and then spray'n'pray right out of cover. His playstyle is totally legit for this setting but for me this has the quality of watching some kids play Tekken while wildly pressing buttons. Even present variations of CoD are less arcady. You see, in a first person only setting one guy behind cover, e.g. a rock, the other guy in open field, would be a relatively fair fight. The guy behind cover couldn't see much without exposing himself at least a little. His advantage of cover would be evened out by the disadvantage of much less tactical information. In a third person environment the guy in open field is just fucked. There'd be no interesting test of skills but merely an execution. -

No. They are made for different camera aspects. Third person like in video games must be the least used. Btw, movies are made to tell a story, not make one yourself. Life is in first person though. Tough shit! -

Numpad + and - already zoom in and out. It's practically a FOV slider. -
I see a lot of guys losing bodily fluids of different kind because of fear their beloved 3rd person view might be removed. :) I'm sorry. Not for your tears, but because you 3rd person lovers can't see how the bad effects of using TPV is actually screwing this game up fundamentally. And for what? Your personal comfort. Seems like you guys are less of a team player than the FPV crowd, which is willing to give up personal comfort for a better gaming experience for all.

You can express whatever you want, in the linked thread for example, but this poll is phrased as a YES or NO question. And the question was if you would actually play SA if it would be 1st person only and not what you would prefer. So this poll does not lack any options. There's YES and NO.
-
No. The question is if you would play DayZ SA if there would only be 1st person mode. This is a YES or NO question. No other options needed. The question is not what you would prefer. Would you play? Yes or No. Period.
-
You would play DayZ on first person only. That's all that matters. No additional options needed.
