I don't think it's an advantage at all. I'd always switch to FPV for anything compat related because it feels weird in 3rd. I'd only shoot in 3rd to save the time to switch to 1st. Switch off crosshairs would do fine to make that undesireable. -

There have been a lot of valid arguments. The problem is rather that those are completely disregarded. That's why I got a little stroppy here. The opposition is either to dumb or simply unwilling to agree to anything. How are you supposed to have a civilized discussion like that? You don't. The ones following this thread...well, there's no one else left anyway... might have noticed a thin slice of despise in my words against the TPV lovers here from time to time. That's not without a reason. I'll illustrate once more with a little story. I don't have much time to play but managed to do so for a couple of hours last sunday evening and yesterday as well. Tried DayZero Podagorsk for the first time on a 3DP off server. Played alone there for a while when an old gaming buddy, whith whom I used to play DayZ back in summer 2012 came online. At some point he wandered off to WarZ, found there some buddies and they formed a clan there, mostly PvP oriented. I had no interest in any of that. In fact I'd rather remove my eyelashes with pincers than going so low as to waste time AND money on such a pile of dung. At some point they jumped off WarZ again back to DayZ. Well, he skyped me to join their Teamspeak and play with them which I did. Well, guess what! Those guys played on one of those 500+ vehicles + custom bases with loads of weapons and donator packs servers, which almost every one of them had, mostly for PvP...well that means they go some place with their AS50s and shoot anything in sight and talk a lot of crap while doing that. They enjoyed themselves. I got bored quickly despite a few action packed moments with like others trying to crash helis in our spot and stuff like that. Logged off for the night. Next evening I went lonewolfing on Podagorsk again. Had some fun. Had to log off because server restart. The buddy came on and I joined his group again. Same game as last night. Conclusion: I despised WarZ. Therefore I despise people playing it because they obviously don't have something like standards and decency of gaming. Meeting some of those validated my prejudice...now it's not a prejudice anymore. People gaming shit must be a little shitty too. You can't play with shit without getting a little dirty. And if you're dirty, you probably played with shit too. That's why I tend to despise people a little who enjoy playing shitty video games. Regarding TPV I have to say that I didn't miss it much on Podagorsk. On the DayShit Server TPV was enabled of course. I did some whoring too, but I don't feel comfortable in TPV in general anymore and only felt to switch to it for looking at the new skin of my character and some whoring while beeing shot at or driving a vehicle. Looting even goes better in FPV because you can aim at the loot piles decently. Always had my problems with that in TPV. You can play DayZ almost perfectly while in FPV and especially driving vehicles and flying choppers is much more fun that way despite beeing somewhat more challenging. Play like a man! Play in FPV! You might finally have a reason to feel good about yourself. -
They could allow an error margin for the avoidance.

Humanity perfectly managed to kill each other even at times with no firearms in existence. Why should the lack of bullets stop em now? -

Because it has nothing to do with FPV vs TPV. -

Yeah, it's quite interesting how everybody tries to classify DayZ into their preferred chambre. For me it's mostly a source of fresh salty water out of the tears of others. ^^ Im in it for making it a thousand pages. Let's set a record! Let's bust the limits of the database! -

The TPV lovers won't ever see that. Not even in 3rd. ^^ -

You can roleplay as much as you want. FPV only won't keep you from that. This whole role playing argument is nonsense. -

Yep. That's why it would be better if it'd be removed entirely. -

What would be really cool if you could change the position of the head inside vehicles. In reality you do that instinctively to better see around. Similar to that peeking over stuff while prone just like leaning would be great as well. -

Maybe try FaceTrackNoIR. You just need a compatible webcam and the (free) software. My buddy says it works fine. http://facetracknoir.sourceforge.net/home/default.htm -
The question was not about happiness. Somebody proclaimed if SA would have disabled TPV many players wouldn't buy it. That will most likely not be the case. People would still sell organs to be able to play it. A lot of motion sickness problems would suddenly be gone to I guess...

There's no FPV servers to lose. There are "none". (few, unpopulated) Popularity is nothing I care about. Shit tastes awesome! 20 Billion flies can't be wrong. I think it is much easier to come up with ways to improve 1st person, which make the need for 3rd person, if there really is any, vanish. This has to be done anyway because, believe it or not, 1st person view is the core of this game. And that's another point of the FPV crowd: don't waste time on trying to fix the unfixable and rather spend it on improving 1st person view. And it's not just to impose will on others. It's about making overall gameplay better respectively making the players better players. If they want it or not. If you allow something in any sort of game that gives an advantage or just comfort, people will use that. At least some. Then more, because nobody wants to be in a disadvantage when it's competitive. If that causes unfair, boring or otherwise unattractive gameplay one thing will happen: the rules will be changed so the game will stay interesting, entertaining and fair. That's how most rules for common sports have been developed. And that's what we trying here. Develop a rule for better playing DayZ.

1. Not an excuse. An incentive for Rocket to try SA as FPV only game. 2. As explained many times before, TPV seems to have some sort of black hole like gravity which leads to very few FPV only servers. Plus other reasons. The sole existence of TPV in DayZ led imo to the steep road of lame where everybody walks with pride not even realizing what effects this arcadifying has on gameplay. It takes the sim out of everything and therefore should be a crutch for beginners only to drop as soon as fit for it.
-
And why would that be? The poll proved at least one thing. Most would put up with FPV only to play SA.
-
The question was not which you prefer. The question was, what if there was only FPV...would you still play SA? Yes or No. Where's the bias in that? The whole point was to find out if even the TPV lovers would still play SA if it had no TPV no more. You can't formulate the question any better for that. Btw, you can start your vote anytime. There's just not some point in it. No one doubts that the majority loves TPV. That's exactly the problem.
