Great idea. I just keep at home playing with myself...unless I set that server up in a way many players prefer over the competition...like millions of vehicles, guns and whatever. Choice is great!
-
I can barely find any 1st person only server. It is hard enough to find a decent server at all. Most are 1000+ vehicles and barracks all over the place with every crap possible enabled. Thank you, choice! You did a great job fucking it all up.
-
Yeah, that's the obvious solution...for everybody not seeing. We had it that way in the mod. Server owners could chose. What did they chose? 99% chose Third Person View. Just for comfort. Most probably never realized how much this fucks up gameplay for everyone. TDP encourages a "camp on a roof like some little bitch" playstyle. It's a mild form of wallhack. Everybody is complaining about KoS...Kill on Sight...how about changing sight? Camptards will have a harder time scoping out the neighborhood when they have to stand up an be visible themselves.
-
Whatever? Then I chose hacks. DayZ is that game were one guy decided to put you in misery. It's not designed for personal comfort.
-
Rocket confirmed a few months ago he would fix third person. Hopefully this won't be one of this broken promises. Third Person View just breaks common sense.

Anybody with some brains will have the idea to go to a low pop server for a more private looting experience. So really this "manual" is as superflous as the bitching about it.

And god spoke "Let there be KoS. Then light."

Split the forum board - Dayz mod and Dayz
tommes replied to nevillebartos's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I support that motion. A subforum at least would do. -
In the begining there have been self hosted servers in the public hive and it was good.

"Ze German" and then Aussie only? No beans for that.

You have no faith, infidel!

We won't need one because SA is beeing released. ;)

I always was annoyed by that excess of roadblocks. As if in a zombie apocalypse people would have nothing better to do than throwing their laundromats on the street. Some are plausible but overall I think it's too much and too random. Something like a military roadblock on the other hand is plausible and makes a cool scenery. And imo it would make sense to put at least the majority of those POI more up north. Otherwise there's no incentive to go there.

Glad to hear. How is it done? Mousewheel?
-
I'm not up to date. Is there already a quick switch from and to melee weapon implemented? One of the biggest hassles of the mod imo is the cumbersome switching to the hatchet or whatever.

All time favorite item in DayZ, and why?
tommes replied to {TMW} Crackahhh's topic in New Player Discussion
#1 The Lee Enfield It's the one item that transforms you from a defensless srub to a killing machine. It's a symbol of empowerment. #2 Other Players The stick of power ain't worth shit if there's no one to use it upon. And they serve as a great source of supplies. -
DayZero started with Chernarus and only brought in Podagorsk later on.

If you had the opportunity to add one pistol

It's not a desireable game if there's no Desert Eagle! -
Depends all on what you're planning to achieve. Recording, editing and encoding are 3 different tasks, which a single piece of software most likely will not do more than two well. Usually editing software can also encode, but I'm not sure if the result will be optimal. Luckily it's no problem to do every step on it's own with. Recording: Most known are Fraps, Bandicam and DXtory. Youtubers preferr mostly DXtory because it does the job without slowing down the machine much. You should have a fast harddrive für recording game footage btw. because that will write data as hell. Editing: I have no idea about editing. Simple cuts can be done with Avidemux, which is a good and simple encoding tool I will recommend in the next part. I believe Sony Vegas is the tool of choice for many. A missing manual or even damaged CD/DVD should be no problem. You can download manual and often the software too of the manufacturers website. If there's some sort of license key the seller should provide it anyway. Encoding: Avidemux. Simple and effective. Free of charge.

GUIDE: How To Set Up & Increase DayZ FPS / Performance
tommes replied to Andy Red's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You keep saying "SD-Card". Do you mean a SSD (solid state drive)? -
GUIDE: How To Set Up & Increase DayZ FPS / Performance
tommes replied to Andy Red's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
If you have a SSD-Harddrive already you won't need a SD-Card. Most of those aren't that fast anyway. You have to check to have a decent one. In general I can only recommend to get a fast 128 to 256 GB SSD for the operating system and your most important applications. It will boost overall system performance, especially booting the OS and starting applications, significantly. If you can't afford one right now, put the @DayZ folder in a RAM-Disk. There's HowTos around. It's really easy. -
That's it!

You're trying to connect to a Breaking Point server and some of the mod files are rejected because they can't be verified by that server. Delete the folder @breakingpoint and reinstall it, maybe via DayZ Commander.

My and your reason to Kill on Sight (KoS)

I make up custom reasons for every kill. -
[SA]Suggestion: Don't show server populations
tommes replied to airfell's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Might be done with a group spawning system. You define a group in the login moderation system (match making system) which will then be thrown on the same server in the same area so they get the chance to find each other within let's say 15 minutes or so. If a server becomes low pop (maybe >5 players) all will be logged out with a countdown of 10 minutes so they get time to finish their business and go through the match making process again. So you and your group will never be completely alone. Player made buildings, tents, camps and the like will not be possible with this system though.
