And it's exactly that kind of attitude that makes this even an issue and nurtures the so called "elitism" of the folks readily willing to give up some perks for a more plausible gaming experience. I can understand that you guys WANT 3PP. What I can't understand is that you NEED it that desperately. My guess is except for some people really not able to stand 1PP only it's merely a lack of motivation to undergo the process of adapting. Now, do you have anything to contribute to this topic of improving 3PP?
-
This might be solved by having motion blur for areas not in LOS.
-
I can understand your scepticism but you could at least try to figure something out. Right now you're more like
-
What response do you expect? That has to be fixed. Period. We are all for making 1PP as good as possible.
-
That's a screen of how night vision goggles are handled in Arma 2 1PP and 3PP. Something like that would be ok I guess. There should definitely be a downside to wearing gas masks and helmets as there is in real life. I've been to the military and had training there with gas masks on...believe me...you don't put that thing on without a good reason and you take it off as soon as you can. FOV is reduced, it's very hot inside and breathing is much harder.
-
There might be the need for a clientside Alt+F4 detection.
-
The helmet camera must be centered and as close to the eyes as possible to minimize exploitation. Possible solutions should be relatively simple codewise and not use much server or client ressources.
-
You're still being really negative about things. How about changing your approach and leave the "that's all bullshit" part for another day and place? Try to find possible solutions to the problem! Please! If we don't change our patterns we will have the same old circle debate again. I remember someone having this idea back in the big thread in September of blurring out everything not in LOS. That would eliminate the exploits while beeing obvious and therefore probably more intuitive at least This probably must be combined with the 4th wall to make sense.
-
Now, does anybody have something to get at least a little closer to a possible solution for fixing 3PP in DayZ besides the 4th wall script? Without something like that there can only be putting the virtual camera much closer towards the body, maybe like 30cm behind and 20cm up. It wouldn't be drone view anymore but merely "helmet camera". That should be easy to implement and therefore tested.
-
For the record, "a disembodied view" is like the textbook definition of 3PP.
-
I did not bring it up here in this thread. Btw, in Arma and therefore the mod double tapping minus on num pad increases FOV by zooming out.
-
You guys getting off topic.
-
Well, using either hacks or the described lame tactics does not make you a better player but a lame one.
-
Everything has to be plausible. Realism helps plausibility greatly.
-
The devs won't remove it. If you actually want to contribute better help in solving the exploitabilty of 3PP. This is politics. You have to listen to and respect others opinions, no matter how ridiculous they are. You can only achieve what you can get the majority to support or at least not oppose....and as in politics the outcome will probably satisfy nobody...
-
It didn't turn into it. It was the topic from the beginning.
-
So cheater, hackers and whatnot are better gamers?

Here's an interesting article about motion sickness. Read the comments! http://kotaku.com/5869607/how-motion-sickness-can-ruin-games-and-the-meds-used-to-fight-it Favorite methods of fighting it seem to be - increasing FOV - disabling post processing effects and the like (I'd count stuff like head bot into that) - taking motions sickness remedy or ginger - using sunglasses or special computer work glasses
-
Removing crosshairs and zoom doesn't touch the issue with 3PP which is scoping out other players from places one shouldn't be able to.
-
"It's been there forever" is not a good argument. If it's bad it should be gone. No matter how long it's been there.
-
The game is playable in 1PP. It is not half as broken as some people describe it here. It only feels that way if you're used to quasi superpowers like 3PP. And I don't believe it was wisdom to put in 3PP but more like an easy way around some problems that 1PP only presents players who have not yet managed to master 1PP only. Why 3PP ain't an elegant solution was very well summed up in that dyslexi video. This whole discussion would make a major leap forward if we could agree on 3PP in the current implementation being not the best of all means to overcome the shortcomings in the presentation of 1PP in Arma and related games in the present state.
-
Well, I'd like it then 99% or as much as possible. At least it should not be breaking common sense of combat as 3PP is right now. Checking rooftops and sniperspots with 3PP enabled is just futile. You can't use real world or even other FPS games knowledge and skills while others have practically drone vision.
-
The made the game obviously to be played in an uncertain way. Otherwise we wouldn't have this discussion.
-
I agree that this solution is far from perfect but it is at least a solution large fractions of both camps could agree on until some better solution is found. 1st person definitely should be improved...though I don't see why so many take it for unplayable. It is very well playable. Head bob and post processing off helps a lot. Having better framerates would also improve the look and feel as well as better control over interacting with the world like climbing ladders and opening doors. Other than that Arma or DayZ 1PP is no other than other FPS games.

I don't. Learn to fucking read! Read! Understand! Until then stop posting here. And don't use Hitler in discussions.
