  1. I was just thinking, when you holster your primary weapon you hang it over your shoulder and when you holster a hatchet you hang it by your hip. Why can we then not have a separate slot for melee weapons in the inventory so that we can swap between, say, Enfield, Makarov and a hatchet? There are times when I'd rather use the hatchet, for obvious reasons, rather than firing my Enfield as this would be contra productive and attract even more zeds to my position. Yesterday I went to the fire station inside Elektro and there was a zed just standing there, I had heard gunfire from somewhere in the city so now I wanted to use my hatchet which meant I had to first drop my Enfield on the ground and then equip my hatchet. Now that is ridiculous imo, there's no reason I wouldn't be able to switch between a rifle, pistol and a melee weapon irl so why would it be in DayZ?
  2. Well, as I never expected my body to still be there I went looting barns and in Elektro so, as I said, the only things I got from my previous body was the compass and M1911. I did all the hard work.
  3. I like the fact that you can stumble upon your dead body. I had found some good gear for survival in the woods when I was confronted by another player in a field just outside Pusta and was shot to death. That made me a bit angry because what are the odds you run into a player in the woods near a village no one cares about? So I stopped playing for a few hours, when I finally decided to return to the game I spent maybe 30-40 minutes looting Elektro and again decided to hit the woods. When I got to the vicinity of where I was killed earlier I thought that I might as well check if I could find my body and to my surprise and delight I did. Now I already had everything I needed except for a compass (which was the reason why I wanted to find my dead body) so I took the compass and the M1911 with a few mags and went on.
  4. I agree with you completely, if you wanna head up north you only have one hospital to choose from and it's still close to the coast. There should be some medical supplies scattered around in the north of the map, perhaps there should always be a box of meds on the heli crash sites.

    The lack of update in that thread is a bit disturbing though. Rocket said that target date was Wednesday 1 August (yesterday), well they missed the target date so it would be nice if they could update the first post and/or unlock the thread which was supposed to be locked for an hour (now been locked for a day.)

    Oh, how I hate going to Cherno...

    I find that, more often than not, this makes it worse. I try it everytime and it works maybe 1 time out of 10, the other nine times the artifacts multiply.

    As for point 1: Yeah, guess I didn't think of that, would be nice to see in the standalone game later. As for point 3: Well, if you think firing an Enfield rifle to kill ONE zed with its back turned against you IN a city where you've heard other players shooting is a good idea then all I have to say to you is; glhf. I for one sure don't want to attract dozens of zeds and the occasional nosy player to my position just because I have to get rid of one zed blocking my way. This is a suggestion, while I realize it won't make the game until we see the standalone version, I still want to make sure this suggestion has been seen so that it might get implemented later.
  9. I was in Elektro the other day on SE #800, crawling over the road to the supermarket when some guy with a CZ550 started firing at me, missed both shots and all I could see were like 10 zeds coming at him there on the hill. That was kinda funny.

    The Makarov isn't that bad, I find all pistols suck if you aim at the body but it's still 1 shot kills if you shoot them in the head. Now I know that it is hard to do when the run towards you but I'd just rather run for a barn or some large building instead of trying to stand my ground and fight them outside.

    Then you guys must be very lucky. Yesterday I entered a barn wielding my hatchet when I found a shotgun on the topmost level in there, I picked it up without thinking to add the hatchet to my toolbelt first and thus it disappeared. This incident actually made me think that we should be able to switch between a main weapon, secondary weapon and a melee weapon seeing as when you holster the main weapon it goes over your shoulder while holstering a hatchet it goes on your hip. I have also noticed some other stuff go missing on drop when I've tried to remove say an empty water bottle from my backpack so I could fill it by a well. It disappeared from my backpack and didn't end up in my inventory OR on the ground so I could pick it up again.

    What about doing something about stuff disappearing on drop? I've encountered many times that my main weapon has disappeared when I accidentaly pick something else up in that slot. Earlier today I lost everything in my backpack when picking up a new czech backpack from the floor in the supermarket in Cherno. Edit to say that the backpack I dropped completely disappeared.

    Graphical Issues

    When I played just now I had no artefacts at all strangely enough as I haven't done anything. I started playing to see if anything suggested here would work when I, to my surprise, noticed that I had no artefacts. This was at Stary Sobor and NW Airfield.
  14. Don't know if you read my entire post but as I said there, even proning won't help at all times. I got detected whilst prone by a croucher a few feet away (nothing really wrong with that) but only a few minutes prior to this a crawler went right by me, brushing against my shoulder AND taking a bullet in the ribs without noticing me at all.

    Zombies idea!

    I agree with most posters on here. The zombies in DayZ are a bit disappointing, they should be slower but harder to kill. I think that in and around cities the number of zombies is good (mostly) but IF the zombies would be changed to what's being proposed in this thread I'd like to see a bit more of them in the cities and also a few of them roaming the woods so that you would never be completely safe from them.

    It's not a bad idea but I can see this becoming a problem for new players at a later stage when most other players are at third or fourth-tier. With all the murdering going on right now those new players would never reach the 'finish' as there would most certainly be one or more groups of players camping about with their higher-tier kits killing the others off which would lead to a lot of grief and ultimately the end of this mod. imo.

    You don't need bloodbags, as everyone has said; find a hatchet, hunting knife, a box of matches, kill a cow, make a fire, cook the 8 steaks you get from the cow and profit.
  18. Regarding the zombies hearing and visual abilities I don't know what to make of some posts on here. I might have been lucky but I fired my M4A1 on a crawling zombie who surprised me in a house in Stary and no other zombie was alerted by this. Later when I sneaked out of the house and had made it a bit further I was spotted by a runner who I shot with two or three bullets, again no zombie was alerted despite there being 3-4 in the vicinity. On the other hand I was killed by a crouching zombie while going prone through the grass in the outskirts of Cherno which pissed me off a bit since that zombie was about 6-7 metres away when I, not 2 minutes prior, had evaded a crawler that I even shot once and he crawled not more than an inch from where I was laying. Then, later, when I was running all the way from Kamenka to Cherno to collect all my gear I decided to run through the woods so I wouldn't alert any zombies, despite this one zombie came sprinting after me when I passed the Balota airfield (which gave me huge artifact issues) and never before have I had a zombie catch up with me and hit me whilst sprinting, until then. When I finally evaded him I was down to about 8k blood. tl;dr: I think Zombies still are a bit deaf (I'm fine with that tbh) but their visual seem a bit iffy at times (sometimes they see you no matter what and sometimes they are blind.) Artefacts are quite annoying and seem to only appear (for me) where there are military buildings (I have experienced them in Balota and Stary Sobor.) Otherwise I'm quite happy with the update and I'm looking forward for a fix to the artifact issue.
  19. Yes, I have this and it seems everyone else has this too. I don't dare to play the game again until this is fixed for fear of dying :P
