Title: 1 Shot 1 Kill | Dayz Epoch 1.0.3.1 Chernarus | Looking for Heroes & Bandits! --------------------- Game Server: 69.39.239.141:3187 Server Forums: 1s1kdayz.enjin.com Server Video: Warning: This is a PVP server. There are plenty of PVE elements on the server, however PVP is encouraged and welcomed. Bandit clans are setup with the exact same perks and treated the same way as hero clans. 1S1K Dayz Epoch is a different experience from your typical dayz epoch. Most servers have donation perks that encourage a pay to win environment, with custom loadouts for people who want to pay for them. We've also experienced some servers where the admins basically run a business by selling building supplies in their server donation store on a server that has destructible bases, and then going around and destroying those bases at night, so those people would then have to buy more building materials from the donation store. Needless to say, we don't want that environment. Instead we have chosen to give out what most servers offer as donation perks, instead as clan perks, based on your individual group size. Clan Perks: • Base Building Kits [based on group size] Supply box with prefabricated & raw building materials, & all the tools you need to build. • Door / Safe Combo Changes [3+ Members] Change all your door and safe combos to a single combination. Doors/safes with the same combination do not require you to re-enter combinations again. You can simply use the unlock/lock function on all doors/safes with the same combinations. • Clan Uniform @ Respawn [4+ Members] Find an epoch skin your group likes, we will set your group up with a custom loadout that spawns that skin in your inventory on respawn, as well as remove that skin from the traders. Thus you will be the only group on the server that will have that skin. *Ghillies & Hero skins not available as uniforms for obvious reasons • Fuel Tank @ Base [5+ Members] Fuel tank at your base enables you to put fuel pumps down within 30m of the tank, enabling auto refuel & repair at your base. • Protective Base Domes [5+ Members] Protective Base Domes are programmed with your group members' GUIDs. Anyone trying to enter your protective base dome that is not programmed into your dome gets warnings for 1 minute to leave, if they do not comply they are kicked from the game and teleported to skalisty island. *Base domes are not god mode. Base domes are not meant to stop people from attacking you at your base. Base domes are intended to stop people from camping inside/near your base and griefing your vehicles while you're not around, as well as preventing people from trying to guess door and safe combinations. Server Philosophy: We are of the philosophy that perks we setup for our clan members should be offered to every group on the server. Anything new that is setup for our clan will be offered to every group on the server. We hated the pay to win environment other servers offered, as well as the shady "business models" some admins have created on their servers. We strive to create a level playing field for every group on our server(bandit & hero clans alike), as the only thing preventing you from obtaining perks on our server is the size of your group, which can easily be rectified by recruiting more people, which is our goal, more people playing on our server! Active Admins: We have 2 super admins & 5 regular admins. All admins have rcon access, as well as customized in game admin tools on their scroll wheel menu to deal with the most common issues people playing in our server have. Our Server Admins adhere to a strict no abuse policy. We will not do anything for ourselves, that we would not do for you. With that policy, please do not ask for teleports, free items, keys to unlock vehicles you lost the key for, etc. Play the game "as it's designed" is our philosophy. Please note that during "Special Events" (which you are welcome to attend) the admins will be doing lots of teleports, spawning vehicles, spawning guns for the event. If you see a lot of players being teleported and you'd like to join the Special Event, just ask! If you are trying to find a home with fair admins and a balanced environment for heros & bandits alike, someplace you won't get kicked or banned for killing admins, come check us out. All our admins play regularly and enjoy helping people new to the game, as well as always welcoming the challenge of new PVPer's on the server. We do regular weekend events, and now that the server is setup and fully functioning with all the scripts we want, my focus will be on creating mission files specifically for event nights. Some events we currently run: • Armored Vehicle/Air Vehicle Nights: We'll spawn tanks, jets, helicopters with explosive weapons at a location that we teleport participants to. We may do king of the hill objectives or capture an item objectives, or attack and defend. • Team PVP - Attack & Defend: We teleport participants to a defend-able location, spawn a weapons box. Everyone in the current round uses the same weapons, which will be selected by the group. Each team takes a different set of skins to clearly identify who is who. Allow defenders one minute for setup, and then attackers assault the building. Some events we have planned for the future: • Death Race on the Coast: Race from Berezino to Kamenka on a death race track, complete with hazards, traps, & forced city detours. The real problem with racing in dayz is that whoever is in the front of the pack generally stays in the front... until something catastrophic happens. We are going to dramatically increase the catastrophe quotient by adding obstacles to avoid and forced detours, there will even be mines layed out in certain spots, though never entirely blocking your path - there will always be a clear path through the obstacles, however that doesn't prevent your buddy from shoving you into whatever obstacle happens to be closest. • Castle Siege: A custom castle will be added to the map. One night a week, we will have a castle siege night, where last week's winners of the siege will defend the castle against all other groups trying to take the castle. Winners of the castle siege will be allowed to use the castle as their base of operations for the following week, until the next castle siege night. The castle will come equipped with a gun rack filled with rare weapons, as well as a locked chopper. The castle will be protected by a Protective Base Dome programmed with the winner's GUIDs for the duration of the week. The base dome will be taken down during castle siege night. We have quite a few more events planned for the future, but these are my favorites and the first I will be working to implement. -

We run a hero clan of 8-10 regulars. Then we also have around 4 other groups of 3-5 people. We've got a 50 slot server though and we would like to fill it out during prime time if we could. Most of our clan usually gets on around 9pm est, some people before then. We'll be doing some sort of event night tonight, so if you want to check out our server stop in around 9 or so, that's when we usually start event nights! -

SA - Sleep in tent while logged off to repair minor injuries

Basic idea is to add a sleep button to the tent, once you're inside it and sleeping you can log off and get maybe blood regen or minor injury repair. The idea being two fold in that a.) your body does most of its repairs while you're asleep, and b.) you're vulnerable if you do this because if people have found your tent, they could potentially camp it until you come back later. I think the risk vs reward could make for some potentially awesome situations. Maybe require a sleeping bag in your inventory to be able to sleep in the tent. -

Radio detonators are very dangerous and risky. As anyone with a radio on the same frequency can detonate the thing.

you are so lucky that i cannot remember how to use doorknobs i shit you not i have a book in my bookstand called zombie haiku. my rigor mortis is mainly why I'm slower and the severed foot. through the giant glass we stare at them staring back as the window bends.

for something to be used as currency in a survival scenario it needs to have value towards your survival, and it also helps if its rare. the barter system is best imo because it allows you to get what you need at the expense of something you have that someone else may need. people started using mountain dews as currency in the mod because they were so super rare, and they had a value(even if it was minimal) towards your survival. in a game like dayz i dont really see a need for currency, because people you come in contact with that have something you need are likely always going to need something different from you in return. trading is inherently risky though, and people are more likely to kill you and take what they want from your corpse than they are to give you something in return for your goods. i'd like to see some way to make trading safe but i don't really think there is a way to do that without ruining the experience.

sorry my interwebs are slow - currently tethered to a cell phone atm as my main connection is down. "it's not ready yet" doesn't really give me any more information than i had before. been trying to watch the video most of the day but it simply will not load via this connection. would anyone mind paraphrasing the actual reasons dean gave in the video as to why "its not ready yet." cause what little gameplay footage i was able to load in that video makes it seem like its ready. edit: after 4 hours i was finally get to a point where dean starts talking about the release. network bubble. i got it. 2 words that would've told me more than the 4 above: "it's not ready yet" -

boy that standalone footage makes the game look awfully playable doesn't it? makes me wonder why we're still without a release. -
What I would like to see is your normal controls for driving, gas brake steering and handbrake, in addition to that a clutch key, e would be fine since its right next to wasd. and then have a little stick shift in the bottom right hand corner of your screen that you could grab a hold of and manipulate by holding down your left mouse click, only when you have the clutch key held down. maybe make the left mouse click the clutch to simplify things. that way you could switch between any gears you wanted, to do potentially terrible things to your transmission. For instance, if you try to shift from fifth gear to reverse at any speed you're gonna have a bad time.

On the note of poisonous berries/mushrooms and other things, as well as helpful plants, it would be cool if one of the books you could find was a guidebook to identifying those harmful and beneficial plants

I recall hearing that one of the first things the development team will be working on once standalone gets released is fishing stuff. I made this 3d model of a fishing pole, and I am currently working on models for other related equipment: lures, different test lines, a tackle box. I'd like to include items for fresh water and salt water fishing since in chernarus alone there are ponds as well as the ocean. I'm a decent 3d modeler but texturing is another story. I'm fairly new to the whole process, watched a tutorial on how to uvw map and tried my hand at that. Got the map all textured and back into max but when I tried to apply it to my model it just showed up as black with the green outlines. So I've just accepted that uvw map is probably too complicated for my skill level and at some point I'll probably try to manually texture the models myself, unless someone else here has skill enough to take a crack at it. I've rendered a couple different angles here of the pole. My basic idea for fishing is to have the tackle box so all your equipment can go inside of that once you find one. Until then all your equipment takes up various slots in your inventory. To go from freshwater fishing at ponds to ocean fishing you would have to find the higher test line and have the tool to change it out as well. I want a variety of lures, but any lure could be used for any body of water - different lures being more effective than others. I also want to make sinkers and floaters but I fear this may be overcomplicating things. In addition to the fishing equipment models, I intend on doing models for various fishing wildlife as well. Again though, I'm new to this, and texturing seems to be above me, so I am looking for anyone who would like to partner up and take on that side of it. If this is you, either respond here or PM me with some contact info, and I'll send you a link to where I will be putting the 3d models. I am also not against criticism or tips on how i could do things more efficiently. Our new kitten is not making things easy for me either, climbing up the back up for my chair sitting on my should before she decides to pounce on my keyboard. I setup a decoy keyboard for her and she seems content with that for the moment, until my hands start moving a mile a minute. Onward with the screenshots: Working on more models today, so there will be more incoming.

Ideas for Hunting/New Equipment for Standalone

I'm surprised I haven't seen horses mentioned yet. Being able to saddle or ride a horse bareback(with varying degrees of success based on how wild the horse is and how much you've fed it/trained it) would be pretty awesome. As a general rule horses are quieter than motorized vehicles. Would be nice to be able to tie him up somewhere by the reigns if you dont wanna take him into the city. -
I think it would be really cool to have a sanity meter of some sort similar to dont starve. if you havent played it, basically as you do certain things in the game, like spend time away from a light source at night, eat uncooked food, your sanity meter starts to drop. when it gets below a certain point your character starts sees andbhearing visual and audio hallucinations.Nosises and things like eyes staring at you in the darkness. eventually if it gets too low your hallucinations attack. I dont think that part is a good idea but could definitely do some cool post process effects for visual hallucinations and audio stuff is easy. the most important thing is to make it a gradual change and make losing sanity happen from things that make sense for the game. maybe eating human meat would jow be an option at the cost of sanity?

I agree about the implementation, I think that all the hallucinations should be character models that are already in the game, starting solid and then slowly fadin to transparency with time based on your sanity level. think about the effect of being in your camp at the fire with a bunch of mates and one guy swears he saw a zombie that nobody else saw, or if youve really lost it you actually do see it long enough to think it was real and start firing it at. now add this effect to a horde of zombies at really insane level of the meter, the player is literally goung to jus start firing off rounds if he sees a horde of zombies roaming through their camp, even if others are dont react to the zombies, thry will react to the afflicted firing off rounds.

First off I am a game dev student. 2nd I agree, let the game designers design games. You know what feature the game designers who made this game chose to include? third person camera view. so yeah, when you are trying to remove a feature that the game devs intentionally included you are limiting the gameplay. personally if third person view isnt included I wont even consider buying the standalone. Btw removing third person view is not a "feature." Its the antithesis of a feature. Your comparison to rts fog of war is appkes and oranges friend. again I dont understand why you just cant be happy with the OPTION of enabling 1st person only servers, rather than ruining the game for the obvious hordes of people that would not be happy with that change, as is evident by the current popularity of 1st person servers, or lack there of. Its kind of a "to each his own" type of thing, but you want to take that and instead say "no only my way" -

Should you find a vehicle and have the materials to get it running: never drive a vehicle over any type of bridge - unless you don't value your vehicle and your life. (really hope that is fixed in sa) Also, should you flip an atv onto its side, you can unflip it by pointing its wheels to the sky and driving in reverse. Sometimes it takes a long time, other times its quick, but it always works - unless you've got objects obstructing your movement. If you get off of a flipped atv, you can not get back on. When landing choppers, autohover is your friend.
