    DayZ PS4 Discussion

Well Windows 10 is free, for a start, and some of these other prices are also very inflated. $100 for RAM and $100 for a hard-drive? Where do you live? Lol. $299 might get you an Xbox but then you're stuck paying $60 for games for the next 10 years, rather than $10-20 on Steam...

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

Hmm... I couldn't recommend it. The Q6600s (especially the early ones) have been known to get super hot when overclocked, if I remember correctly. I'd at least get a fairly cheap cooler like the Hyper 212 on there before attempting to overclock.

I'd imagine that he has the Q6600 which is overclockable, but I couldn't recommend doing so without a decent cooler, motherboard and power-supply and his spending a bit of time doing research.

we need 180 vertical view angle

Yeah, I would agree that it is currently a bit too low. I don't think we need to go as high as 180 degrees, that always feels a bit odd to me, but it definitely needs to be higher.

    MY PC and DAYZ.

As others have already told you - a dedicated graphics card would boost your performance in DayZ (and other games) significantly. The PCI-e slot is located on your motherboard. Perform a Google image search so that you know what you're looking for, then just open your case up and take a look around. Most motherboards have at least one, if yours doesn't then you would have to upgrade that too in order to be able to fit a dedicated graphics card. In the mean time you can find a bunch of tweaks to improve game performance here... https://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154330-possible-fps-enhancer/

    Dayz Reviews on Steam

FYI, white text is completely invisible when browsing the forums with the IP.Board theme. I wouldn't recommend it.

I'd go with the other build purely because the graphics card is better. If you plan on playing games other than DayZ and Arma then it will serve you better overall.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

It's not uncommon to run a 2500k as high as 4.5Ghz, it's a realy solid CPU, but yeah, you need a decent cooling solution. :)

First point worth mentioning is that HT (for the most part) is not useful for gaming, except for a few games like Crysis 3 that actually utilise it. It's mainly useful for video editing etc. For games like Arma and DayZ the i5 build is the strongest, for other games that are less dependant on the CPU the GTX 960 may benefit you more. It all depends on what kind of games you're planning on playing, really.

It's impossible for me to tell you with any degree of certainty until that update is released, sorry!

Yeah, that rig is plenty powerful enough to run DayZ.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

That machine will just about run DayZ, but it will take quite a lot of config tweaking and you definitely wouldn't be playing on high settings. As is usually the case with laptops and intensive games - it just isn't powerful enough. The CPU especially is holding you back. Merged with correct topic.

Merged. I don't have hands on experience with this exact configuration, but it's definitely powerful enough to run DayZ.

Increase and change the m4a1 spawn

Now that just wasn't smart. See you in a week.

    Less of this.

Can I Run DayZ Retail (POST HERE)

There are a lot of servers running modded easier versions of the mod but they're no fun IMO. If you want to spawn with everything you need to start shooting people then I think you should be playing Arma itself, not DayZ. Just my $0.02. If you were to go with DayZ mod then I would recommend sticking to vanilla servers, which are challenging but then again that's the whole point of DayZ. As for being too difficult for new players - there were no modded servers when myself and a whole load of other people started playing, just the "vanilla mod", and we got on fine. :)

You will run either Arma 2 or DayZ on that rig, but it will take a bit of tweaking to get them running smoothly. I'd imagine that the mod would run slightly better but I'd base your decision on whether you would like to play Arma 2 and DayZ mod or just DayZ.

    FPS issues

As above - all you can really do is wait until the game is in a more finished state and the performance issues (both server and client side) are ironed out.

    aspect ratio!

As was already pointed out - it's not actually useful and makes it more difficult for players to properly configure their graphics settings. You can still achieve the 4:3 stretched to 16:9 effect if you really want to, however it's not something that the developers are interested in allowing via the in-game settings menu; hence the option having been removed in the first place.

    aspect ratio!

It's been pretty common to use a 4:3 resolution stretched to 16:9 to give yourself a bigger target in Counter-Strike pretty much since 16:9 monitors became a thing. The trade off is that by stretching the x axis of the image on your screen you're also stretching the x axis if your mouse input causing your horizontal sensitivity to feel higher than your vertical sensitivity, which is really strange. I'd imagine that you can still do this by selecting a 4:3 resolution in-game and changing your graphics cards scaling options.
  23. You'll get a better definition from a real dictionary rather than Google, lol. "Made or done in the traditional or original way, or in a way that faithfully resembles an original: the restaurant serves authentic Italian meals every detail of the film was totally authentic." Regarding DayZ "authenticity" is about creating a faithful representation of what post-apocalyptic survival would really be like.
  24. You're welcome to start that topic but I don't see it going very far. There just isn't very much to talk about.
  25. You can't discuss the advantages of of 1pp without also discussing its disadvantages and as a result, the advantages of 3pp. That would be a very boring and one sided conversation. Debate keeps things interesting and helps everyone to see the advantages, disadvantages and how things could be improved, rather than a topic that essentially consists of: "1PP is good." "Yes." "Yes." "Yes."
