In a real world apocalypse type scenario I think it's more likely that the majority of people would try to help each other instead of hunting each other. Sure, there would be bandit gangs, but I don't think everyone would take that path, and even then I think the majority would favour robbing people over shooting them on sight. -

Allow chat and voice while incapacitated Teamspeak renders this pointless and unfair to unaffiliated players.

Most people don't use push to talk in TS, it has pretty good voice activation. -

I think the Z is actually for Zero. As in... Chernarus Kamenka Day 0 On topic: The zombie respawn timer seems to have been upped a bit in 1.8 so you can clear areas more effectively for short period of time now. And stop being so rude to everyone.

Personally, I really like the new HUD. Heard a few complaints about the icons though. The option to choose between the new or old style ones where you used to turn the debug monitor on and off might be a good idea.

Does anyone know where to find comfrey leaves? Are they a loot drop or do you find the plants growing? Only if they've gotten a 15 minute sepsis warning before they log.

I think the range has actually been increased because it was just impossible for them to hit you while running before. -

This.^ I genuinely don't understand the point that you were trying to make. RE: 'If you allow yourself to be handcuffed by strangers robbers during the apocalypse...well, you wouldn't have lasted this long.' Anything is better than death, so if you're outnumbered and outgunned surely the option to be restrained and robbed is better than being shot. No?

There are some new loot positions. For example - loot spawns on the table in red brick houses now.

It does. I was playing in the US 1.8 test server with 220 ping and taking damage before the zed's attack animation played among other weirdness. -
Yeah, I was thinking rubber bullets too... But I'm not sure if they have the ability to actually knock someone out, unless you hit them in the head. *Waits for someone more knowledgeable...* It just seems a bit silly to me. In a real life survival situation I don't think that someone would take the time to mess around making tipped darts, but non-lethal police weapons seem pretty feasible. Sedatives, which would be found in hospitals, and administered through the action menu like other medical supplies don't sound like a bad idea though.

I like to help the new guys by sharing medical supplies and whatnot but sticking around with them can more or less be a death sentence. If I was doing a quick run by Cherno as a fresh spawn then maybe I'd have stuck with him, but if I was geared with a DMR and night-vision goggles then I definitely would have done the same as the OP. Nothing against new players, but their naivety and lack of game sense can often get you both killed.

I don't think tipped darts would be very authentic, but something like a tazer and/or other non-lethal weapons used by police would be cool.

IMO 1.8 is the best update DayZ has had. Really great. Me and my friends are enjoying it immensely. There isn't anything I don't like about it, although one of my friends isn't a fan of the ShacTac hop, lol. I'll admit that it isn't perfect but it's a thousand times better than the combat roll. I have encountered a couple of bugs though... -Both on the test server and my regular server, now that it's updated to 1.8, I've had the bandit 'KILLKILLKILL' page in the journal and I have the survivor skin with 2500+ humanity. -My hatchet went full auto. No idea what caused it. Reconnecting fixed it though.

I'd like to see the DMR made a little more rare so that there more of a 'wow, I found a DMR' feeling. I know what you mean, but I don't think bringing the anti-material rifles back is the answer.

As above DayZ standalone is a standalone game, it does not require any other games or programs to run. DayZ mod is a mod for ArmA 2: Combined Operations, meaning that you need ArmA 2 and ArmA 2: Operation Arrowhead to play it. This is a good point. OP - what are your system specs? I can't imagine paying out for a couple of games and then finding out that you can't actually run them at a playable level would be much fun.

Indoors I find that you have about a half second window where the zed is within melee range before you're in range of their attack. I find it's best to just not risk fighting outdoors. IMO the machete is the best melee weapon. It's range is shorter than the hatchet but it does much more damage.
