I haven't actually tried the Steam version but most people still use DayZ Commander.

AWA #1 (EU server) still has a day/night cycle. I think they cut night time down to 6 hours, but it's much better than what most servers offer these days.

Also, where did everyone get these trained pigeons from? Are we pigeon trainers as well as soldiers, mechanics and medical doctors now?

The machete does by far the most damage but the hatchet has better range. For zed killing it's gotta be the hatchet for me cause you trade hits a lot less.

Yeah, the new interiors look a bit more 'lived in' in the standalone. :)

If you can think up a way to repair vehicles that doesn't require already having one to transport the parts then sure, I'd be all for it.

inb4 closet jokes. There are some big wooden wardrobes in the houses in Chernarus that a normal sized man or woman could hide inside. It might be difficult with a bag on your back though, perhaps you'd have to drop that first.

PvP servers are the ones where you spawn with a DMR and night-vision goggles. If that's what you're into I'm not sure why you're playing DayZ mod and not just stock ArmA II though. :S

No. Absolutely not. You'd be able to carry two primaries, a side arm, a hatchet and crowbar in your tool belt and another weapon (or even two...) in your backpack. It's a bit ridiculous.

How long does it take Infinity Ward and Treyarch to make the same game over and over again? Why do you feel that DayZ (made by an absolutely miniscule dev team in comparison) should be built from the ground up and playable in less than half that amount of time? Why are you so deadset on a release date being set and a half-baked game that will disappoint everyone being released? If DayZ was released now it would be a Chernarus deathmatch with only the M4, a few items of clothing and food and drinks scattered around. It wouldn't be fun, you'd get bored in half an hour. Why don't you just be patient and accept that it will be released as soon as the core mechanics required for gameplay are in place?

That's funny because I seem to remember you in the BMRF 1.8 test server sitting on top of Elektro hospital and spamming 'anyone want to meet up at the school?' in side chat and shooting everyone. I also seem to remember someone saying that they saw you at it, went to work, came home and you were still up there. Does that sound like collecting gear vs. time taken, or spending as long as possible shooting freshies on the coast to you?

The skeleton has no bearing on their speed, they will still be raging 28 Days Later style infected. I think they might be ever so slightly slower than they currently are in the mod as they'll be running in doors and not zig-zagging, so that needs to be compensated for, but they'll most likely still be fast, strong and very angry. xD

Nah, the Steam mod is a load of hassle; I don't know anyone that uses it. DayZ Commander (or SIX) is the easiest way to install and stay up to date with the mod.

I think you'll be okay set to 'normal' because you'd be recording to a second hard-drive. You might want to avoid cities (or at least drop your settings before entering) while recording though. Yeah, recording at 1280x720 would probably work better.

Yeah, playing on a bad server can destroy your performance even if you've got a top of the range system. If you set everything to normal and disable post-process effects you should be fine. I'd install the ArmA games and DayZ mod on your SSD and record to the laptop's regular hard-drive, that should minimize the amount of frames you lose. It will still affect your performance a bit as recording 1920x1080 video is quite taxing.

You mean the mod version? I thought you meant the Steam version of ArmA 2, sorry. It's best to just ignore the Steam version of DayZ, it's a pain to get working, and install with DayZ Commander. It's updated pretty much as soon as the patches are available.
