I really can't see Rocket ever adding a singleplayer mode to DayZ. The entire game is based around human interaction so it kind of defeats the point.

You can use a program like Fraps or MSi Afterburner or if you're using Teamspeak then Overwolf is good.

120-175 isn't that bad. There are no servers here so I have to play on EU servers with 150 ping and I don't have any problems. Have you considered switching ISPs if you're having problems with them though? If the game feels choppy then that's probably a performance issue caused by your laptop's hardware and not your internet connection. -
No, you won't run on high with an i3.

Rocket doesn't want to implement things like dead bodies etc. as part of the level design. He likes that when you see dead bodies or zombies they are the result of things that actually happened in-game rather than just being there, save for a few of those 'mass graves' and dead soldier zombies around military areas. -

It's a CPU bottleneck and ArmA SLi issue, I think. I'd overclock your CPU and run on one graphics card if possible. I'm playing on a server that is fairly slow (a lot of people complain about FPS there) and I get 40-80 FPS with everything maxed, object detail: normal and post-process effects: disabled, with an i5 3570k @ 4.4Ghz, 8Gb 1600Mhz RAM and a single GTX 780. -
I'd recommend going with a Ivy Bridge or Haswell i5 over an i7 and putting the money you save into the graphics card but yeah, that would run DayZ mod on high settings no problem.

Merged your topic with the Can I Run DayZ? topic... That laptop will run it okay on medium settings, you could be running on high or very high if you spent the same amount of money on a desktop system though.

What weapons do Hero's normally carry?

Yeah, the machete absolutely destroys damage wise. It takes virals down in one hit every time, which is handy, but I find the range to be a little lacking. I've taken to using the hatchet again and assuming virals will take two hits, so being extra careful not to trade hits. -

There are unofficial 'no PvP' servers where PvP is strictly prohibited but IMO you lose all the fear and miss out on what makes DayZ so great by playing in those. As above - your best bet would probably be looking for vanilla servers, but there will more than likely still be a fair amount of PvP in those. My advice would be to play with a friend and try to avoid other players.

I don't really consider graphics settings that are available to everyone to be exploits TBH. It's common knowledge that (at least some) lower graphics settings usually provide better visibility in pretty much every game ever. Anyway, nothing has been confirmed yet. They may consider locking things like object detail server side, but that wouldn't really be fair to players with low spec systems that would benefit from the lower graphics settings.

It kind of is your idea to decide whether or not an idea is actually feasible before suggesting it. And DayZ isn't changing or becoming an MMO... They're switching to more MMO-esque clint/server architecture, that is all.

If you have a decent system and want the best visual:performance trade off then this is the way to go... OP - Your settings are completely backwards. All object detail does is eat your FPS without making the game look better and you have it set to very high, while you have everything that actually makes the game looked better set to low. :facepalm:

Killing zombies needs to be a main part of the game? Thoughts?

I don't think actually killing them needs to become a key part of the game, but I think that they should definitely be a threat to your survival which may in turn lead to you being forced to kill them. In the standalone, when the zombies can run indoors, I think a lot more players will be forced to expend precious ammo to deal with zombies that would otherwise trap them. -
New map? With big urban cities? New weapons?

Rocket doesn't want any AI other than the zombies in DayZ, he wants the experience to be 100% player driven.

Personally I'd like for tents to despawn on their owners death, or also become inaccessible to that player, but I think this may be a bit too extreme for some players. -

Personally I think it was more a case of the majority getting into DayZ for the zombie survival experience and then coming to terms with and accepting the current state of play. I can't wait for the standalone and changes that it (hopefully) brings. :) From my experience in-game the new guys tend to be the ones charging straight towards every player that they see screaming 'FRIENDLYYY!' only to be gunned down more often than not and eventually going the KoS route themselves.
