The GTX 650 and HD 7770 are pretty similar cards. If you could stretch to something like the HD 7850 it's pretty much twice as powerful as the GTX 650. You'll be bottlenecked by the i3 CPU, otherwise you'd perform considerably better, but you should be able to maintain 30+ FPS on low-medium settings with it as is.

Will hackers really be subdued in SA? Not likely.

...And then you went back, read your posts and realised that you're the one that's accusing everyone of being mad, bro. :S -
[Guide] How to use and optimize your settings with any game controller
Mos1ey replied to dreadlordnaf's topic in New Player Discussion
Griff isn't on that much at the minute due to various IRL things that he has going on, but I'll shoot him a PM regardless and see what he says. -
I think when people talk about the AI, to a certain extent what they're actually talking about are the animations; which are undoubtedly better in L4D with it being a purpose built game and whatnot. The AI isn't great. They'll constantly do dumb things like ignore you to start smashing a door, but I suppose that comes with the territory of being a zombie. :P Expect a bit improvement in the standalone game. /topic

I'd estimate 30+ FPS on medium-high settings. I think you'd be better off going with an AMD graphics card with that budget though. The GT 650 is a bit lacking.

No problem, have fun!

[Guide] How to use and optimize your settings with any game controller
Mos1ey replied to dreadlordnaf's topic in New Player Discussion
Only timeless topics that are useful to the majority of the community get stickied I'm afraid. -
No console versions have been confirmed. You'll run okay on medium settings. Might be able to bump it up to high once you get the HD 6670 replaced.

I need to watch Tron again... I don't think I've seen the original since the 90s. xD

whats the max online players a server can have without lag
Mos1ey replied to piffaroni's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
That depends on where you're located. The US has pretty poor internet speeds. In places like China and Japan it's not uncommon for people to have 100mb/s connections in their homes, I think their national average is something like 60mb/s. I think Virgin are offering 100mb/s in the UK now too. I was getting 32mb/s down while paying for 30mb with them a couple of years back, so I don't doubt that you get what you pay for either. -
This. And... This. As well as providing a place for people to discuss estimated performance and potential upgrades it also gives us a place to merge all of the inevitable Can I Run It? topics posted by people that haven't read the stickies before posting. I don't think we need to put an end to the topic, just figure out a way of making people notice it before posting.

You have to find the 'sweet spot' where it will actually allow you to pick it up. Try zooming in and looking up and down the hatchet very slowly until the 'take hatchet' command pops up.

Game ratings dictate who is allowed to buy a game. Anyone can play it.

Dear Rocket and his team, no private hives, please.
Mos1ey replied to Dekkymane's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
It is actually somewhat true. For those of us that want to play vanilla DayZ mod private hives private hives have pretty much ruined the game, although they were definitely a good thing to start with. -
Tell Me Ur Favorite Weapon In Dayz?

Low-tier: I love the Winnie and Enfield equally. Mid-tier: AKM High-tier: The M14 AIM/DMR combo! -
No and no. Sorry guys!
-
Yeah, I'd definitely say ArmA 2 is more atmospheric and gritty, plus I miss all the M4 and AK variants in ArmA 3. ArmA 3 is a good game in it's own right, they cleaned up a lot of things since its predecessor and I'm sure the campaigns will be good once they're out, but there's just something about ArmA 2... It's a different story once you get online and you're playing on a server that's got 1000+ AI zombies with 50 other players running around unfortunately, lol. I can run the campaigns completely maxed out, render distance and all.

Object detail only affects the amount of grass loaded, it doesn't actually make the game look any worse but does significantly affect performance; which is the main reason that it's one of the first settings that I'd recommend dropping if you're looking to gain a few extra FPS.
-
Nope, probably not. You'll run the mod fine, but not maxed out. ArmA 2 hates Phenom CPUs for whatever reason and you're much better off with a single graphics card, running SLi/crossfire setups just causes issues. You'll probably run with most settings on 'high', anti-aliasing relatively low or disabled, object detail set to anything up to 'normal' and post-process effects disabled. To put things in perspective I'm running an i5 3570k @ 4.4Ghz, 8Gb Kingston HyperX RAM @ 1600Mhz and a GTX 780 and I run with everything set to 'very high', object detail set to 'normal' and post-process effects disabled in 1920x1080 with 40-60 FPS.

Zoombies is a waste of time, I wouldn't bother with it. I'd just decide whether you're more interested in DayZ or ArmA and then make your decision. You can always buy the other game later if you feel like it. As above it does take a really powerful system to be able to max out the ArmA games. Just because you can run BF3 maxed out does not mean you'll be able to run ArmA 2 or 3 similarly.

Is this normal play time for dayz?
Mos1ey replied to meat pie's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When I play a lot, I play a lot. We often have 6-10 hour sessions one or sometimes both nights on weekends. Then I'll get bored and stop playing for a month until my next binge. xD -
It won't run it that well becuase of the dual 6870s. ArmA 2 takes SLi/Crossfire builds horribly, you'd be better off with a single 6870 and that's quite an outdated card now. It will run most other games really well and ArmA II at a playable level though. It's not a bad system.

Give me one logical reason why gear destruction will delay KOS
Mos1ey replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
No, the point was more that instead of thinking 'I don't want to die and lose my gear so I'll take this guy out' you might think 'I don't want to get hit and risk damaging/destroying my gear so I'll stalk/avoid this guy until I know that he isn't a threat'. Tell me about it... -
My aunt lives in a rural area on the English/Scottish border and there are a few places that look like they could be in Chernarus. I'll try and get a few photos the next time I'm over there... :)

That's a very good point that I hadn't considered.
