Early access is a good way for indie developers to gain the funding needed to complete their project. Unfortunately a lot of developers are taking advantage of this and "half-arsing" the game once they've made enough money from it. It's up to you, the consumer, to do a bit of research and decide for yourself whether you think buying an early access game is a good idea or not.

Regardless of what engine you're using there will be limitations.
-
Have you checked if DayZ is being blocked by your firewall?
-
Actually, I think it is the kind of "in a perfect world" solution. The problem is that it would give a bigger advantage to the people that circumvented it.

Finally, someone who shares my screenshot fetish...

Moved to DayZ - PC > Gallery.
-
This is how DayZ always was. It was never intended for people to be running into each other every 5 minutes.
-
Why wouldn't you save enough space to hold your mags though? :S The reload option in the action menu is necessary as long as we have different mag types IMO.
-
I think the temperature system will get some fine-tuning as other things like disease are added and the environment naturally becomes more difficult to survive, but DayZ is a survival game. It isn't supposed to be easy to survive. :)

If you're sneaking up on someone then it shouldn't matter if you do it with your melee weapon in your hands. Being able to quick-stab someone while you have a rifle in your hands doesn't sound very authentic to me, sorry.

will I get banned if I server swap?

+1 Server hopping is widely considered the mark of a bad player. -
Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous
Mos1ey replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
To be honest... Yeah, that sounds about right. If they can only run two thirds as many private shard servers on the same number of boxes then they have to charge one third extra to make the same amount of profit. Like I said - I don't work for any of the server providers, so I can't see exactly how many instances they're able to run per box but that sounds believable to me. -

Are you planning on backing any of this up with logical reasoning or am I just wrong because you say so? Like I already explained - private shards require more resources. They can run fewer servers therefore they obviously can't offer them at the same price... There is no conspiracy here. If they wanted to rip people off, they'd just make all the servers super expensive. Let's see if what changes? -
Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous
Mos1ey replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Well I obviously don't have access to the DayZ server files so it's hard to say with any amount of certainty, but I would have thought that they can run considerably fewer servers per box and the extra cost is to reimburse them for that. -
Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous
Mos1ey replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
You didn't even post the prices, you just went off on one about how the private shard servers are more expensive than other game servers per slot, which is a moot point because you're paying for the resources not the number of players the server can hold, and started encouraging people to boycott the server hosts... I mean gas is more expensive than water per litre, must be conspiracy, right? Your second hidden post included a link to multiplay's site amongst a rant aimed at forum admin, more conspiracy mongering and threats to post the prices on social media (lol)... -

The OP has the prices. -
Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous
Mos1ey replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Take your tinfoil hat off for a second... They're more expensive because they require their own hive, therefore more resources... Your posts are probably being hidden because you're posting the same nonsense over and over again. Do you really think it makes a difference if people know the prices? Do you not think people might check them before renting a server? -
Not sure about South Asia, but there should definitely be quite a few in Aus.
-
Increasing your download speed won't help, you won't need more than 8mB/s for gaming. The problem is that you're far away from the servers.
-
"I feel strangely attracted to that zombie."

A similar system for heli crashes would be nice IMO.
-
Yes, I believe so.

I never said it was "negative" or "a big deal" to want to play a multiplayer game with your friends. My point was that I don't see why running mindlessly for 20 minutes would be preferable to deciding on a meeting point and arranging to meet there so that you can play together the next night. I don't really see why that's a problem. I mean, you probably aren't going to watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy if you only have half an hour to watch TV. Are you?
-
But you aren't playing solo if you're talking to your friends who are also playing. I don't understand why it's such a big deal that you have to be able to see them in-game straight away. :S

Private Shard Pricing is Outrageous
Mos1ey replied to Weyland Yutani (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
Honestly, I hope not. If modding is allowed, mark my words, DayZ will go the same way as the mod... The masses will flock to the easy mode servers, and no one wants to play on an empty server, so everyone else will be forced to join them. There will probably be a few "vanilla" servers left, but they'll more than likely remain empty for the most part.
