Even for games that don't require a vast array of different controls you're still better off with a mouse and board. A good mouse is just a more accurate aiming device - fact. That's why aim assist is used in pretty much every console shooter, but not the PC versions.
-
Micro$oft charge devs a ridiculous amount of money to release updates on XBOX Live, which wouldn't suit DayZ for obvious reasons. It's looking like if DayZ ever does make it to console it would be a PS4 exclusive.

Duct tape fixes everything.
-
Yeah, if it's said d1df87 every time then you're still using the first key and haven't changed it properly...
-
If you have genuinely bought the game and been banned multiple times then you've downloaded something dodgy which is forwarding your new key to someone every time you get a new one... You need to completely format your hard-drives and reinstall your OS. d1df87 is part of your GUID by the way, it's not a ban code. And read the ToS. It's down to you to prove that you did not cheat, not the other way around.

But that's just not true, is it?.. ArmA II was on it's last legs before DayZ. DayZ brought a heap of new players and actually made it easier to find populated servers for the vanilla game. All it did was make the ArmA hipsters a bit less hip, because now everyone has heard of their super secret game.
-
Yeah, you should run fine on normal-high settings.
-
It's already on the to-do list...

Still can't get more than ~15fps. FPS/Lag troubles
Mos1ey replied to LoiterSquash's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
This.^ I think the problem is more than likely that your system just isn't up to the job. ArmA II and especially DayZ mod are pretty demanding, so most family desktops that weren't bought specifically for gaming just won't be up to the task, nevermind 'old as shit' ones. -
Will hackers really be subdued in SA? Not likely.
Mos1ey replied to Ozelot (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
A lot of Steam exclusive games use VAC as well as a third-party anticheat. I wouldn't be surprised if that was what Rocket had in mind. -
Really poorly balanced system, I wouldn't buy it. It's a decent CPU, way too much RAM and an awful graphics card that will need to be replaced if you want to see the other components being used at anywhere near their full potential. It would run DayZ mod, but only on low-medium settings. You could easily run on high-very high if you put a balanced £500 system together though.
-
I'd probably buy ArmA II, but I'm impatient... xD If you can wait and save your money then you might as well do that. If you really want to play right now, then go ahead and buy ArmA.
-
By 'the demo' do you mean ArmA II: Free? 1) ArmA II: Free uses super low-res textures, so it's not as intensive as the full game. 2) DayZ mod is a lot more intensive than ArmA II because there are masses of AI calculations to be carried out by your CPU etc. I wouldn't recommend playing ArmA II or DayZ mod with those specs, it isn't likely to be an enjoyable experience.

Choosing spawn location and the implications.
Mos1ey replied to ftee's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The difference (IMO) is that in allowing a player to choose their spawn point the devs are condoning this 'play style'. -
In what way? The DayZ and ArmA II communites are more or less completely seperate. It's not like DayZ came along and made ArmA II unplayable, is it?
-
Video memory should be left at default, post-process disabled and object detail on normal. I think you can probably run with everything else maxed out TBH. I have an i5 3570k @ 4.4Ghz and GTX 780 and I run with the same settings with 40+ FPS.
-
Will the SA be better optimized than Arma 2?
Mos1ey replied to King of kong's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Indeed. If you look at PlanetSide 2 for example the severe game breaking optimisation issues were taken care of in beta and now (a good 6 months+ after final release) they're looking to finish the optimisation process and really get the game running faster. I think DayZ will be better optimised than ArmA 2, but I wouldn't expect any miracles when the alpha build is released. -
30+ FPS on very high with post-process effects disabled and object detail set to normal.
-
That's such a moot point. If you look at the current state of the mod then yes, lots of things are stopping us from playing regular DayZ. There aren't any populated servers for a start, only 100 heli/self blood-bag servers... In opening the standalone up to modders Rocket would essentially be shooting himself in the foot IMO.
-
Whats your ideal server population?
Mos1ey replied to Karmaterror's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
30-40 is perfect for me. I like to play with 60 players sometimes, but definitely not every time. -
800 of what currency?
-
In all honesty I'd rather the game was left 100% non-modable forever. Completely ruined the mod IMO.
-
Yes, you'll definitely be able to run the mod at a playable level on that system. Have you considered building a PC yourself though? As well as saving yourself the assembly fee you tend to be able to put a much better balanced system together that way.
-
I agree and would hope that the devs are doing something to counter these known issues.
-
The devs have expressed that they will consider allowing private hives at some point down the line, but nothing has been confirmed.
