will this get me playable fps on lowest?
Mos1ey replied to 23rdmarch's topic in New Player Discussion
The point of shifting some settings (e.g. shadows) up to high is that when they're set to low the load is put on the CPU and when you put them on high the load is put on your graphics card. In this case I don't think it would be productive, I would disable anything that can be disabled completely. In answer to the OP - no, you will not be able to run DayZ mod with 30+ FPS on that machine. If you have any more questions please use the Can I Run DayZ? topic, which you can find here... http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/146536-can-i-run-dayz-post-here/ Locked. -
What stops people taking SA features over to the mod?
Mos1ey replied to scaramoosh's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
+1 If features are ported over from the SA to the mod then great, I'm sure those that continue to play the mod will enjoy them, but the vast majority of new features will be impossible to replicate at the same quality in the ArmA II engine. -
You won't run DayZ 'well' on a laptop without spending ~£750+. If you don't want to struggle with low FPS on low graphics settings or spend a fortune then I'd recommend a desktop machine. You won't get the same performance in DayZ, partly because ArmA II isn't as well optimised and partly because of your CPU having a bit more to work to do with all the AI zombies running around. You will be able to run it on med-high settings with decent performance though.

This.^^ In the UK everyone drives manual transmission. I only know one person that drives an auto and that's cause she failed her manual test multiple times so switched over to auto, haha. Autos are very American. If manual transmission was implemented in DayZ IMO there should only be 'shift up', 'shift down' and 'reverse' keys though. The clutch seems a bit unnecessary as switching gears is second nature to most drivers. It would be like implementing seperate keys for your right and left legs while walking.

Yeah, that will run high-very high settings no problem.

Depends on your hardware...

I agree, but the fact that you couldn't use camo clothing or ghillie suits as a female character was illogical and annoying. It makes sense that it was taken out. You'll be able to play as a female character with all clothing options etc. being available to you in the standalone though... :)

^This. Running dual cards will cause more problems than it would solve. The GTX 660Ti would be a decent choice though.

AWA Servers (Veteran/Hardcore/Overwatch/Epoch) [1.8.0.3] [Whitelist]
Mos1ey replied to DMZ_Sniper's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
The vanilla servers are my DayZ home. Would recommend. Especially love the hardcore server, but it needs players badly. -
Would run okay on medium settings. The graphics card would hold the rest of the system back a bit. Need to know which graphics card you have in there really. If it's an integrated chip then you won't run ArmA II on there. If it's a mid-range dedicated card then you'll be able to just about run on low-medium settings.

I think it's because when you play a game you are actually manipulating the on-screen character into performing the depicted actions, not just watching someone else do them, which is the case when you watch a movie.

He means a faster processor. Pentiums are super old now and 2Ghz is pretty slow even for a Pentium. *whispers* Geeet a deeesktop

Will struggle on low settings because of the CPU, but might just about be playable. I would recommend downloading ArmA 2: Free and seeing how that runs. Bear in mind that there would be a performance decrease in moving to DayZ mod because of the extra AI calculations etc. though. I'd expect maybe 66% performance in DayZ mod, so if you're just about getting by in A2: Free then DayZ more than likely won't be playable for you.

So does the way you play Dayz reflect your 'real life' personality?
Mos1ey replied to Jock McScottish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
For some people the fun is in taking the game seriously, see RP servers etc. Everyone's different. :) -
So does the way you play Dayz reflect your 'real life' personality?
Mos1ey replied to Jock McScottish's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I would say yes, but not in a literal sense. i.e. I don't think your Mrs. is a psychopathic killer, but I'm sure it does reflect the way that she analyzes and deals with situations to a certain extent. Then again there are some people that take a more 'it's just a game'/deathmatch apparoach to DayZ and in their case I don't think it reflect on their real life personality, other than showing that perhaps they don't take gaming so seriously. -
Indeed. It's a very low end card.
-
There will definitely never be AI other than the zombies in DayZ. Dean wants it to remain a 100% player driven experience.

Should run normal-high with decent FPS, my mate has a similar spec desktop. You'd be running maxed out if you spent the same on a desktop though... Might just about run on absolute minimum settings but I wouldn't take the chance TBH. Sorry! Low-normal settings with 30+ FPS. Might be able to bump a few of the lesser intensive settings up to high.

TBH I don't really see the point in fixing t-shirts etc. when you could just find a new one. The items that will be worth fixing are things like tac vests that won't be so easy to come by and I'm not sure how you'd fix something like that. A needle and thread more than likely wouldn't do it.

Two PCs cant connect using the same internet
Mos1ey replied to Mr.Global's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Fun fact: everyone is using the same internet. And as above - you aren't being kicked for no reason, or because of a bug... You're being kicked because you're both trying to use the same key... You need to buy another copy of ArmA 2. -
I don't think sandbox games are your thing...
-
I don't think it works like that... I think Microsoft see themselves as God and think that an indie dev'd game like DayZ would need them more than they need DayZ. Honestly, I'm still skeptical as to whether a console version will ever be released though. It just isn't the kind of game that would do well on console without being completely bastardised.
