OP - if you get as low as 'I really need to drink' then you have to drink quite a lot. The fact that they run indoors shows that they have in fact been reworked... They're nowhere near perfect but a lot of work has been done on them.

Having a blast so far. Can't wait til more features are added and the bugs get squashed. :)

My FPS is still great overall but I am getting stutters/drops since last night's update. I also noticed this, but it seems I'm having stutters at other times too.

There is also a thing called humour. You should try it some time.

It runs a lot better than ArmA 2 for me and most people that I know. :S

40-90 FPS. Everything maxed with ambient occlusion and post-process effects disabled. :) Increased zombie count won't affect player performance as they're all handled by the server. They do put a lot of strain on the server and things tend to get a funky though. All will be sorted further down the line.

Indeed. I would probably pick it up now, check it out, and then you'll already have it a few months down the road when things really get going.

You mean the lack of content in the current standalone build? If so, indeed, it is a bit lacking in content. But so many people were crying 'just release what you have and we won't complain' that I think the devs felt a little pressured. If it's any consolation, I've had DayZ standalone for a very long time and can assure you that the devs put in a lot of hours and updates with new content are pretty much constant. I assume they'll come a little bigger and further between now that they don't just have the one test server to keep up to date, but there should be more or less a constant stream of new content. My advice would be don't burn yourself out on it now before it even gets going. Take a week or two off, maybe even go back to the mod for a while, and come back to it after a few patches.

Ah, so now everyone that doesn't enjoy playing your way is a 'carebear'? Have you ever considered the fact that DayZ was not supposed to be Zombie DeathmatchZ? Of course, PvP is a part of the game and no one's trying to deny that, but in essence the devs have always been aiming for a survival experience. Sometimes I think a large part of the community are playing the wrong game...

Yes, I started playing when you still spawned with a revolver and that's entirely my point. For me everyone playing on the main hive again just feels right. I have no problems with private hives in a literal sense, i.e. servers that are not connected to the main hive and the owners are allowed to lock, but for me modifying the game is a massive no-no as it destroyed the mod completely.

Because people are generally drawn to the path of least resistance. Meaning the 'easy mode' servers are full and everyone else is left with the choice of that or playing on an empty vanilla server.

IMO adding AI other than zombies pretty much goes against everything that DayZ is. I know of a few vanilla private hives but they're severely underpopulated because everyone is drawn to the easy-mode servers. I'd be incredibly upset to see DayZ go the same way...

If by more features you mean 10k vehicles, self-blood bagging and 24/7 daylight then yes, I've seen them.

Full name control was never allowed on the main hive. It makes it easier to report servers which are not following the rules, which is vital for a level playing field when everyone is playing on the main hive. I'm not sure what Rocket's plans are regarding the setting server time. Personally I don't see a problem with giving server owners control there. In game messages i.e. death messages have been removed from the game AFAIK. This isn't a server feature. Restart warning would be nice though. I honestly hope they decide against ever making private hives available. The current state of DayZ is such a refreshing change from the bastardisation of the mod. Load out options - :facepalm:

I'm sorry but when did anyone say that you got DayZ for free if you pre-ordered ArmA 3? The amount of misinformation in this topic is unreal. It sounds like the issue is that you overhyped the game and then disappointed yourself when it didn't live up to your standards. e.g. a few devblogs ago Rocket was talking about potentially releasing without zombies due to server performance issues and you're complaining that there are too few zombies. :S

I know it can be hard to find food but you aren't supposed to eat those mushrooms.
