20 hours of play, never met another player
Mos1ey replied to Tocaefoge's topic in General Discussion
You bump into people all the time on the coast. Once you get up north you won't see people often outside of the hotspots or bigger towns. If you aren't watchful, it can be easy to miss people if they haven't seen you either though, and some people may hide from you as you have a weapon and they do not. -
Color degradation from blood loss has to go (loss of visual fidelity)

There's no need to be rude. You could just play Battlefield 4 if you want to fap to oversatured colours and lens flares.- 172 replies

This is a ZOMBIE and a SURVIVAL game.
Mos1ey replied to Chronos Blackburn's topic in General Discussion
I guess you weren't following the development pre-release. The zombies are an issue right now. Currently putting more than a handful on the map results in the server being overloaded and starting to struggle. At one point they were planning on releasing DayZ without zombies, but managed to get them working well enough to include some. Once they are improved you'll see a lot more zombies in Chernarus. -
10ml is more like a syringe. I'm sure it will be addressed.

Looking at the side of the door that the hinges are on usually makes things easier. :)
-
It's kind of supposed to be a niche game.
-
That wasn't a glitch, you broke your legs. If you hit Escape you can respawn when you are unconscious. It may also work while your legs are broken, I'm not sure.
-
Why don't you just stand 2ft back when you open a door? :S
-
Moral of the story: don't get hit by an axe. :)
-
Indeed, there would more than likely be a lot of 'dumbing down' required to get the game running well on consoles. Also, not sure how server hosting would work as console games tend to use p2p hosting and I can't imagine many of them wanting to shell out for servers.

Locked @ OP's request.

Not confirmed.

Try everything on 'very high' or the highest possible setting as a starting point and then... Video memory: auto Object detail: very low Ambient occlusion: disabled Post-process effects: disabled Also, try these startup parameters... -cpuCount=8 -exThreads=7-cpuCount=4 -exThreads=7 -maxvram=3072 -maxmem=8192 -high -xp And in your DayZ.cfg in the My Documents folder change the following values... GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1;GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; On a side note, running two cards in SLi will do nothing for your performance in DayZ so it's really not worth doing. RV engine games do not like SLi setups at all.

I think you'll see a tonne of new clothing options added as development progresses.
-
What graphics settings are you playing on currently?
-
You can't. This is pretty standard for RV engine games, unfortunately.

Color degradation from blood loss has to go (loss of visual fidelity)

It's a good visual indicator of how much 'health' your character has remaining without giving you the inauthentic precision of seeing it as a number or bar/icon. Personally, I think it's a great feature.- 172 replies

I believe it is actually working. Several people claim to have regenerated a decent amount of health. I haven't had any luck though. About 2 hours of play time without being hungry or thirsty with no other status effects and I've not noticed any increase in screen colour. :(
-
I find the easiest way is to just press TAB to bring up the gear menu and then drag the weapon from 'vicinity' to my character.
-
It's the negative mouse acceleration. You'll notice the option to turn it off in under 'controls' in the options menu, but the feature hasn't been added yet. It's a feature in ArmA to prevent people from twitch aiming as you would in an arcade shooter like CoD/Battlefield/Counter-Strike. Honestly, I think if the devs are aiming for an authentic experience it should be left in place, but a lot of people don't seem to like it.
-
You don't eat to regain blood, it regenerates passively over time while your character is neither hungry or thirsty. I don't think it's working though. I played about 90 minutes today without my character being hungry or thirsty and don't seem to have regained any health. Either that or it's very, very slow.
-
Not really feasible as sleeping pills take about 30-45 minutes to work. Unless you plan on force feeding somene and sticking around until they get sleepy, anyways.

when will be able to hide weapons to backpack
Mos1ey replied to [email protected]'s topic in New Player Discussion
I think it's an intended game feature that rifles don't fit inside backpacks. -
do people actually want a complicated medical system?
Mos1ey replied to dgeesio's topic in General Discussion
I'd love to see a more complex medical system. Exactly as he said I think it's all about balance and finding the sweet spot between complex and confusing. -
Apparently some servers aren't set up properly and will wipe your char. Haven't experienced it myself, but that's what folk are saying.
