Yeah, I'm looking forward to a bit more late game difficulty as development continues but IMO surviving should become more difficult over time not the other way around. Currently while we should be struggling to survive I'm asking my friend which sunglasses and headwear combination looks better while we try to replace everything we have with pristine versions and at the same time the new players (and unlucky experienced mod players) are repeatedly dying due to starving/dehydration on the coast. That extra 10-20 minutes of play you'd gain by not spawning hungry could be the difference between life and death when the first town you come to doesn't have either a drink or that can opening implement that you so desperately need after you make your break away from the shoreline.

It was supposedly added in the last update. I've not seen one yet though... Got 40 rounds for it if I manage to pick one up though. :P

Go to My Documents > DayZ and delete the three config files. The game should create new ones for you.

But that's the thing. Now that I've survived a few days I'm geared up, carrying 6 or so cans of food and some fruit, a canteen and a bottle of water. I could go and slaughter freshies on the coast all day. Nothing to stop me - it's them that are hungry, not me. IMO the first hour of gameplay feels too difficult and then it's plain sailing, potentially even too easy.

Yeah, as long as you get it bandaged up quickly it isn't really too much of a problem, but when I'm wearing a raincoat, cargo pants, a hat and gloves it doesn't really make sense for me to get a potentially fatal (if untreated) wound via being slapped while hitting a zombie with an axe. More damage per hit with a lower chance of bleeding just seems more logical to me.

I don't like messing with fresh spawns but we have handcuffs so this isn't out of the question if we find a suitable candidate...

Go into My Documents > DayZ and open DayZ.cfg with WordPad (or your prefered text editor) and change... Resolution_W=1920; Resolution_H=1080; to your desired resolution and run the game.

Ah, yeah. I forgot about that. Honestly, I don't think you should already be hungry or thirsty when you first spawn as if you're playing on a high pop server (which is the best experience, so most people do) the coastal areas are usually picked clean of food and drink unless you got lucky and caught a server restart. Getting your first meal can be a nightmare...

I think zombies should do more damage per hit but have a lesser chance of making you bleed.

I sat in a bush for about 90 minutes to regain some health while using the Steam in-game web browser to do other things. Had to drink a few times, didn't have to eat once though. The people who are dying of starvation are the people who are using 2xW sprint for 30 minutes solid and expecting not to have to eat or drink as a result of that.

Most modern boards will allow you to assign any key to any function. You could simply reassign a different key to Ctrl.

I'm currently carrying a syringe full of an unknown clear liquid that I found on a dead survivor. Any volounteers? In the name of science of course...

To be honest, even with all that gear you'd have got bored if you couldn't find anyone. We've met about 20 people so far and only 3 have been hostile. We've been avoiding people if we see that we have guns though, so that might have swayed things, but better luck next time. xD

As Max said - at this point everything is very much a work in progress. I remember at one point during closed testing you could just walk around a room in the gear menu and things would pop up in the vacinity because the radius was too large. I guess they've gone too far in the other direction when trying to tweak it, but such is life in game development. They'll get everything right at the end. If you don't want to experience bugs and the like then just don't buy the game. Take another look when we're into beta or even the final release and see what you think.

You were not compatible blood types. You should find a blood testing kit first.

Probably not. I've seen new releases go 5-10% off in Steam sales before, but honestly you'd be incredibly lucky to get that.

Me and my friend found one each in houses in Stary Sobor. I've heard of a lot of people finding them in wrecked cars too, but I only ever seem to find drinks and bits of maps in them.
