Mouse acceleration comes in two forms - positive and negative. Positive mouse acceleration means that as you move your mouse faster your mouse sensitivity will increase. For example if a player who uses positive mouse acceleration were to make the same 30cm horizontal mouse movement twice, once taking two seconds to complete it and once taking half a second to complete it; the first time his character may turn 180° and the second time his character may turn 360°. It can be useful for players that use a very low mouse sensitivity as it helps them make more drastic movements without having to throw their arm across the desk. I don't like it because it prevents you from building muscle memory to the same extent that you can without it IMO. Negative acceleration is the exact opposite. It means that as you move your mouse faster your sensitivity will decrease. Like you said - it's used in the ArmA games to prevent players from being able to twitch aim like you could in an arcade shooter like CoD/Battlefield/Counter-Strike as it gives a more authentic experience. A lot of people don't like it but honestly it's barely noticeable if you just learn to move your mouse at a consistant speed instead of trying to twitch aim as fast as you can when you see an enemy. Slow and smooth is the way with RV engine games. Also make sure that mouse smoothing and post-process effects are both disabled as these add latency to your mouse input in a nasty way, and people often confuse this as being part of the effect of the negative acceleration.

Removing saline and making ammo much more rare?
Mos1ey replied to r4nger's topic in General Discussion
That's literally what saline is for - it's to bulk up your blood volume until you can get a real transfusion. IMO It should restore you to full blood and then gradually drop back down, although you should naturally recover blood during this time so it should level out to some extent. -
Removing saline and making ammo much more rare?
Mos1ey replied to r4nger's topic in General Discussion
I think salina, the M4 and ammo should all be much more rare, but at this point I don't think it would help stop KoS. We need a lot more items (=/= character progression) and zombies for that. -
Clipping through the firestation/fall damage
Mos1ey replied to thebalfrog's topic in General Discussion
One time I was looting the top floor of one of those buildings with the holding cell at the NE airfield, I proned out to check under the beds and was killed by nothing. It's an alpha build, you're gonna lose gear to BS. You just have to accept it and move on. If you want to report bugs then use the Bug Reports area of the forums... http://feedback.dayzgame.com/my_view_page.php Posting topics like this won't bring your gear back and the devs more than likely won't see it. -
This has been posted about 50 times. If you want to stand in the middle of the street scraping a can for 5 minutes then feel free, but I don't think it's a very good idea in a world full of zombies and bandits.

Even worse. Spawn point selection was awful in the mod, it just led to massive amounts of people trying to get revenge kills and loot their own body.
-
Unfortunately there aren't a lot of tools in the game yet, so you'll find it difficult to keep yourself entertained for extended periods of time. You could try playing as a medic though, that can be fun and challenging.

As above - no, you cannot teleport, this is not Minecraft. You have to meet up with each other again, that's the game. There is a possibility that a 'group spawn' function will be added for players that are spawning new characters at some point in the future, but you will never be able to teleport geared up characters as that would be game-breaking in many ways. Also, please try to use the correct sub-forum.

Contact BattlEye.

There are hardly any. IMO it's better to just run the 'stable' build.
-
I think we should change the theme once we get to the final 1.0 DayZ retail release, to celebrate.
-
The game controls fine if you learn to move your mouse at a constant speed. The option to disable mouse accel will be added at some point in the future though. I think PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE IT UNLESS YOU WANT TO ACTIVELY SUPPORT DEVELOPMENT OF THE GAME works a little better than 'best played with a controller', but apparently some people can't read or choose not to anyways.

I think they should double the volume of the waves. I might finally see someone up north...
-
Agreed. I like the idea of having different kinds, or sizes, of maps, but I don't think the current system is ideal.

Joined a server and my char was wiped. My own fault for joining a dodgy, non-official looking one... But it was almost worth it...

I spawned without pants, my vest, my shoes, and my backpack.

I wouldn't have thought so, no. Unlucky! -
Well on top of the things like new UI/inventory system, models and building interiors that you mentioned a lot of the changes are things that can't be seen, for example the way that the client and server interact with each other and the way that zombies (which are nowhere near finished and are currently not working properly) and loot are handled as well as some security issues that have helped cut down on cheating considerably. The weapons are completely new. For example, in ArmA 2, an M4 CCO was a completely seperate weapon from the M4 CCO SD, now the parts are interchangeable as well as item degradation for items and parts. A lot of ArmA 3 assets have also been ported in, for example the lighting, compare the flashlight in DayZ to the one in ArmA 2. All in all a lot of work has been done IMO. Please remember that the mod has been in development for much longer than the standalone game, so it makes sense that more progress will have been made there at this point, although DayZ has more potential and will eventually surpass it as development continues, due to the advantages of it being a purpose built game.

For those with low fps, it is probably not your setup.
Mos1ey replied to thejoshknight's topic in General Discussion
Actually a lot of those assets (lighting and clouds etc.) are ported in from ArmA 3. The most interesting and 'new' parts of the engine are regarding the way that the client and server interact with each other, which should result in much better client performance further down the line. -
The rest of your system specs are important. I can't even give you a rough estimate without at least knowing which CPU you have.

Found it for you... He starts talking about graphics settings about 1:30... I actually disagree with some of what he's saying though. IMO terrain detail makes little to no difference, and I have the opposite problem with alpha to coverage. For some reason disabling it halves my frame rate from 60 (with all trees and grass) to 30 (disabled). Not sure why that is... But you might have to play around with your settings a bit to find out what works for you. The main things you should be doing are dropping object detail, ambient occlusion and post-process effects as they have the most detrimental effect on performance. Clouds don't really affect performance that much but they do cause stuttering (bug) so I would leave them disabled until that is fixed. You may also want to drop antialiasing a bit depending on your system, it does look nice though so I run it on very high. -

Bioshock isn't a multiplayer game set on a 230km2 map. I don't mean to be condesending but the fact that you would even compare performance in Bioshock to performance in a game like ArmA or DayZ goes to show that you don't really know what you're talking about. You're right in that DayZ is not very well optimised at this point, that will come later on in development, but the fact that it's a very intensive game and will never deliver similar performance:graphical settings to games like Bioshock will not change. You don't need a very good system to run games like Bioshock. -
I dont understand why there is no AUTO RUN KEY!!!
Mos1ey replied to Bohannan (DayZ)'s topic in Suggestions
Honestly, in a game where the split second it takes to get your hand back on WASD and react after unexpectedly meeting a bandit while auto-running could cost you all of your progress I really don't see why anyone would want to use an auto-run key. You can run from Krastinov to Kamenka in less than 50 minutes, so I highly doubt anyone has been holding W for that long... -
What are your thoughts on camping snipers at Balota?
Mos1ey replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
I wish everyone would man up and get off the coast TBH. Up north it feels like you're playing in an empty server. -
Dayz lags when recoding! Please help
Mos1ey replied to theginger (DayZ)'s topic in New Player Discussion
I see that you have two WD Blacks. Are you recording on to the one that isn't running the game? -
But everyone should be forced to play Balota deathmatch because that's what you like, amirite?!
