You can't compare performance in Skyrim to performance in DayZ... It just doesn't work like that. Your performance sounds about right for those specs TBH, unfortunately DayZ is quite intensive and not well optimised at this point. I can give you a few tweaks that might help though... First make sure antialiasing, shadows, ambient occlusion and post-process are disabled in DayZ. Object detail should be set to "very low". Next head to your Documents folder and open the DayZ folder. Find DayZ.cfg and open it with WordPad (or your prefered text editor) and modify the following lines... GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1;

The only achievements that I would support in DayZ are "survived X hours of play time", anything else should not be encouraged or discouraged by achievements and you definitely shouldn't have to player kill to get them all. Anyway, I highly doubt it will happen. BiS games never have achievements.

The only pro gamer that I've ever heard of using mouse accel was Stevy from fnatic's CoD4 team. Honestly, it's very, very rare that a serious gamer will use it in a game where twitch aiming/muscle memory is crucial. That being said I never really followed the Quake scene as closely as I did other games.

Nice. I've also got a bit bored of the samey military-esque chars and have been mixing it up. Didn't think of trying to emulate the DayZ mod hero skin though. :D

Right-click. It's a toggle bind, if you hold RMB you will zoom in.

How many people do you kill in a life on average?

0-1 Never see anyone up north... -
I think Rocket wanted to implement this but some of the other devs were against it. Not sure why, personally I think it would be a nice feature and make sunglasses more functional...

Lovely Wurzel. I think a lot of the sun glare screenies people post are a bit meh but that first one is great. And Polana is a town, not a city Sutinen. ;) A very underrated one at that, great place to gear up (usually hasn't already been looted) after fleeing the coast.

I should be able to run DayZ at max settings, right?
Mos1ey replied to doctorrayray's topic in General Discussion
Nope, you won't run max settings smoothly on that rig. You shouldn't be too far off though, the game will still look great. I'd advise starting at everything maxed in 1920x1080, disabling ambient occlusion and post-process effects and dropping object detail to "normal" at the highest (only affects the amount of grass loaded) and using that as a starting point. 90° is not a safe temperature for your system to operate at, your laptop is definitely shutting down to prevent you from doing serious damage. If you aren't already using one I would definitely recommend buying a laptop cooling pad or similar cooling device.
-
It's currently estimated that DayZ will remain in alpha for 12-18 months, although it's more of an "it will take as long as it takes" situation.
-
^This. It definitely sounds like your graphics card is overheating. Ar you using any kind of additional cooling for your laptop?

People using the respawn button as a getabetterspawn button takes a massive toll on the server so no, I don't think it would be a good idea. Indeed. Lost my last char to falling through the floor in a house and couldn't get out. I had to resort to drinking disinfectant and slowly dying. RIP. :(

I think this will happen TBH. Rocket had his brother, who is a virologist, write a paper on the theoretical "zombie" infection/outbreak in DayZ. So I would assume that will be used for something at some point.
-
Personally I would not buy the game if I was going to be running on an integrated graphics chip. It will run the game, assuming you're on a decent i5 or something, but it will not perform particularly well. It's up to you though. I've found them mostly in houses, I've never had much luck finding anything other than maps in cars. They can spawn pretty much anywhere that isn't a military spawn point though.

'DayZ masters' on Elektro hill. Almost had me...

The apocalypse isn't fun? :(

Also maybe without that massive backpack rammed full of stuff on your back. xD

I hope something is done soon about the glitching..

Is that 100% what causes it? I just stopped using ladders completely... -
He's actually spot on. If you always move your mouse at the same speed you will notice 0 acceleration. That's how mouse accel works... Different speed = different sensitivity.

new to dayz and cant get it going :(

What is the error message that you are receiving? -
Let's stray away from the personal insults please.

will Mantle improve the performance of DayZ standalone FPS
Mos1ey replied to gamer222's topic in General Discussion
Well for a start I think whether you will ever manage to maintain 60+ FPS depends more on your system specs than anything else, and no, I don't think this will be a priority for the devs. They have a lot of work to do as is and they're only a very small team. -
The fact that you get lower FPS in cities than out in an open field is perfectly logical and will not change regardless of optimisation. Hopefully client side performance in general will increase later in development when more work on optimisation is done though.
