Yup, every time me and a friend decide to trade something or switch out to a different backpack the server resets. At this point switching out backpacks is scarier than sprinting naked up the runway of the NW airfield.

Respawning on server with no loot.

Only connect to servers with official looking names. There's a chance that others will not be set up properly and you will respawn without your gear. Example... DayZ GB 1-14 - Good Jim's Awesome DayZ Server - Bad This has happened to me a grand total of once in 115 hours of play time and that's because I don't join dodgy looking servers. -

In your filter in the server browser type "off" for 3DP:off or "veteran" for servers that are likely to be running day/night cycles. That makes it a lot easier to find the kind of servers that you're looking for. :) -

I'm not sure why people are comlpaining about 3rd person at the minute TBH. I'm pretty limited on the servers that I can play on with a reasonable ping due to my location and I have no problems finding 30+/40 player first-person only servers, so what's the problem? :)- 152 replies

Currently if you sit in Kamyshovo in a 30+/40 server you will see maybe one newly spawned player every minute (give or take) because the spawn points are simply too concentrated. It seems like nine times out of ten I will spawn at either the barn in Kamyshovo or by the houses with the pier between Solnichniy and Kamyshovo. IMO this is better than the original spawn system as Balota is no longer the first port of call for 90% of players, but not the best way to handle the situation. I propose that players should spawn literally anywhere on the coast with the exception of a few km either side of Balota. Pretty much anywhere marked red on this map... Pros... You are less likely to see players spawning. (+immersion) It would be more difficult to camp spawn points. Places like Kamenka and Cherno may see some use again. They're 100% dead at the minute. Cons... Could be more difficult for new players to recognise where they have spawned. More fun IMO because I liked being lost when I was new, but some players will not like this. More difficult to meet up with friends who are also spawning fresh characters as one could spawn in Kamenka and the other in Guba. This is just part of the game though IMO. Please add your thoughts and constructive criticisms.

Duct tape + anything = pristine Duct tape fixes everything. Duct tape should also be useable as a bandage or to fix broken legs.

There are not an intended feature. It's a bug and will be fixed when the team get the audio guys in. -
About 20 minutes after the first time I loaded the game up post-release. Arrived at Balota carrying a chopping axe and a bleeding player (also wielding a chopping axe) came charging towards me and swinging, so I had to put him down. R.I.P.

Well with this idea it would be much more difficult as you would have less chance of spawning in Berezino and the Novy spawn would not be available any more. Also, this is a nice idea about suiciding for spawn points.

I think the idea in the OP is pretty good TBH. I've had people ask me to punch them out in Solnichniy anyway, so it's not like that doesn't happen anyway.

Why is the goal; servers able to support 150 players?

Honestly, I think we could stretch a fair bit higher than 50 with no worries. 30 was my sweet spot in the mod, so I'm by no means a fan of the "meat grinder". I like my player encounters to be relatively few and far between because it keeps the game suspensful, but right now I just don't see anyone unless I'm in a super-duper-hotspot like a coastal city or the NW airfield. Me and my friend did a bit of people watching for maybe 30 minutes from sniper hill in Elektro in a 40/40 server and we only saw maybe 5 people the entire time. I think we could easily have 60-80 players on the map without it feeling too crowded. Maybe a few more if and when Utes island is added. -
It will probably reach the 300 page limit and have to be locked and replaced eventually. The similar topic to the mod was still pretty active right before DayZ retail was released. Congrats! If you click "filter" and type in "veteran" pretty much every server that comes up will be running a day/night cycle. :)

Realism and providing an authentic survival experience is what DayZ is all about.

I prefer to gear up relatively slowly and safely while heading NW through the middle of the map towards the military base by Kabino and Vybor and then onto the NW airfield. I generally head to Staroye or Dolina straight off the bat, depending on where I spawn, and then it's a pretty straight forward route that doesn't require a map. (Polana > Gorka > Novy > Stary > Kabanino > military base > NW airfield) I'll generally have a Mosin with some ammo, all the basics and more than enough food and drink by the time I hit the military base so I feel that I could defend myself, should I have to. Like deebz said - it's a lot of fun to just play and get lost in the massive world of DayZ when you're new though. You can become so immersed in the world and the map feels impossibly big but rapidly gets smaller and smaller the better you know it. I'd recommend not using online maps and only using items found in-game.

I think 150 would be a complete clusterfuck TBH, not sure I'd enjoy that. What I am sure of is that 40 players are not enough for Chernaplus, it feels like you're in a mod server with 10 players as soon as you get off the coast. Can't wait until we're running with at least 60. -
I would expect that performance will not change a great deal for users with lower spec PCs, while users with higher end PCs will notice more stability and hopefully better performance overall. I'm just speculating though. We won't know until the job is done.

Is there actually any difference between these two optics beyond aesthetics? I've noticed that both zero to 50, 100, 200, 300 and 400m and have the same magnification (1x, I believe). Just wondering if anyone knew of any differences between the two? T3N RDS M68 CompM2
