DayZ pissing me off, Server restart equals Respawn
Mos1ey replied to LeftLegDontWork's topic in New Player Discussion
You'll be fine if you stick to the servers with official looking names, e.g... DayZ UK 1-15 (3PP:OFF) <- Good Bob's DayZ Server <- Bad -
"I ripped off the idea for the first film from a Matheson novel called I Am Legend" -George Romero Dawn of the Dead was great but I think Romero is given way too much credit...

Not another redicilious timer suggestion, this is a real one.
Mos1ey replied to DayzForumer's topic in Suggestions
It really bugged me in the mod when I couldn't log out next to my friend. I don't see what's wrong with just having a timer. -
I really don't like the idea of roving hordes of zombies, it doesn't really make any sense. We'll definitely see much larger numbers of zombies later in development though.

Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557
Mos1ey replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
Hopefully both. Also, I'd like to remind everyone that "ETA Monday AM" means we estimate that the update will be available on Monday morning, not the update will be live as soon as we get into the office on Monday morning. -
when will update be realesed what time?
Mos1ey replied to user is my name's topic in General Discussion
^This. You will start a new character and then go back to the old one when the experimental build is released to the rest of the community. -

Currently there are none as both the experimental and stable versions are the same. -

ETA - estimated time of arrival... I wouldn't sit there waiting guys, it's not 100% confirmed to be released today and certainly not in the early ohurs of the morning. -

Mos1ey replied to user is my name's topic in General Discussion
It says "ETA: Monday". It's not 100% confirmed yet. Like everything else in DayZ - it will be released when it's ready. Just enable experimental builds and you will recieve the update as soon as it becomes available. -
Really? :S Dropping ambient occlusion alone from "very high" to "disabled" is an instant 15 FPS boost.
-
All it affects is the amount of grass rendered and it eats a fair few FPS. I'm happy with my current performance and post-process, ambient occlusion and object detail (in that order IMO) are the first things that you should drop if you want to improve performance without affecting aesthetics too much.

Do you really think that the people working on bugfixes are the same people working on modeling, texturing and implementing weapons? Also, if we could refrain from telling people to go fuck themselves we might enjoy a longer stay on the forums. Thanks.- 2582 replies

i5 3570k @ 4.4Ghz 8Gb Kingston HyperX @ 1600Mhz EVGA GTX 780 + babby 150Mhz OC Running DayZ from an SSD FPS in cities (on the roads): ~40 FPS inside a building: ~60-80 depending where on the map and which server I'm on. FPS in the woods/fields ~60 FPS while staring at the sky: ~180 Running 1920x1080 with everything on "very high", object detail set to "very low" and ambient occlusion and post-process "disabled".
-
Overclock that CPU, that's what Sandy Bridges are made for... I'm running an i5 3570k @ 4.4Ghz and a GTX 780 (which I doubt I'm getting anywhere near full utilisation of yet) and I run max settings with object detail at very low, ambient occlusion and post-process disabled and never drop lower than 40 FPS. I would have thought you could achieve similar results if your CPU had a bit more kick.

You don't think that maybe it was the fact that you hit 100 posts? :D -
Rolling Changelog: Stable Branch: 0.32.114557
Mos1ey replied to rocket's topic in News & Announcements
This is quite possible now that I think about it. Guba was the bay area (just empty forest and water) in the ArmA 2/mod map, but I assumed it was taken on by the small town that inhabits that area now. Now that you mention it, I didn't see any road signs when I ended up there... I assumed that this was a completely new area as it's listed as "new" in the patch notes. I guess we'll have to wait and see... Finally... Someone who gets it... -
As above - new experimental build (details here) should be up on Monday, release for everyone else will hopefully follow towards the end of the week. Can't comment on vehicles but I would be very surprised if they were in by the end of January.
-
I actually find it very awkward, I much prefer using shift, it was just an example of something else inherited from A3.
-
Max everything as a starting point and then... Object detail: very low-normal (personal preference) Ambient occlusion: disabled Post-process effects: disabled You might find that you'll drop down to 30 or 40 FPS in the more built up areas, but you should maintain 60+ most of the time.
-
The ArmA 3 mod will have the exact same problems that the ArmA 2 mod did. That was the whole point in DayZ becoming a standalone game, to overcome the engine limitations.
-
What do I think? I can't believe your keyboard doesn't have media keys. o.o Also, I'm not sure if it's possible for DayZ to take control of other programs i.e. iTunes.
-
No thanks. I don't really want to have to look at 100 people wearing shirts with penises all over them running around Elektro. Giving the end user the ability to design things like this is just asking for trouble.

can`t post this issue on the feedback site, see below
Mos1ey replied to taxi driver's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, while it's not the perfect solution most mouse driver software will allow you to reassign the left and right-click buttons. -

I guess it could be an extension of the Guba area as I didn't notice any sign posts when I was there, but the fact that it's listed as 'new' in the patch notes makes me think that it's a completely new area. No idea where it will be on the map though. We'll have to wait and see...
