No one's forcing you to rent a server, leave it to people that actually want to do their bit for the community.

I don't really find night time to be that bad TBH. I wouldn't be opposed to a bit more of an ArmA 3-esque night time though. I can leave my brightness and gamma set to 1.0 and feel that I'm in no way at a disadvantage to people with both maxed in A3.
-
If I had things my way you wouldn't even have that flashlight. xD

People are entitled to complain, there are a lot of bugs and other issues with the game right now and feedback is what lets the devs know that changes need to be made. It's complaints about things like lack of content one month into alpha that just leave me shaking my head though.
-
I guess I thought the abundance of "DO NOT BUY THIS GAME, IT'S ALPHER!" warnings that you get between looking at the game on Steam, buying it and then eventually reaching the main menu may have had some effect.
-
First off, please try to post in the correct sub-forum. This is General Discussion, not Suggestions. Secondly, why would you suggest something that you "know it will never make it in-game as it is justifiably unrealistic"? Stop wasting the interwebs! Locked.

^This x 1,000. It seems to me that a lot of the people posting in the same vein as the OP either don't know very much about game development (i.e. complaining about the "lack of progress" that has been made by a tiny dev team in one month, or posting things like "stop working on new items and fix zombie AI" as if the same guy is working on both...) or seems to think that because they paid for access to the alpha build they somehow have a stake in BiS and the game should now be custom made to their preferrences.

You were banned (multiple times) for a reason.

People still need maps? ^_^

Character starts to go crazy if they kill too many people

As above - this has been posted at least 10 times in the past week. If you want to discuss this idea then please use one of the many existing topics. Locked. -
You won't be on max settings or anything but it would be perfectly playable. No, if you managed to run the .exe without crashing you'd be lucky to get 5 FPS. Sorry!! Would run the game but IMO not at a very playable level. Would not recommend purchasing for that machine. You aren't gonna maintain 60 FPS on that in cities unless you replace the whole machine. If you're stuttering it may be that your hard-drive is struggling. What model is it? Have you defragged and otherwise cleaned it up lately? Have you tried disabling clouds? They were causing stuttering for a lot of people, although it has stopped now, for me at least. Worth a try though!

Yeah, the current server browser is incredibly obnoxious and seems to make pretty much unlimited simultaneous connections. Not only does it cause me to lag out of TeamSpeak every time I open the server browser, but the pings are all skewed because it's sending and recieving so much data. I hope this is fixed, or we're at least given the option to limit the number of simultaneous connections made, at some point.

I think it's more that they're attracted by noise etc. than them actually consciously moving in groups. If you jump into a DayZ mod server and fire off a few Enfield rounds in the middle of Elektro I'm sure you'd see a pretty large crowd of zombies, although they don't actually move together as a "horde" most of the time. I dunno, just my $0.02.
-
Well that's good I guess. :) I wouldn't expect any PS2-esque miracles with DayZ then, but towards the end of development I think things will definitely run a bit more smoothly for everyone. Nah, now that zombies are handled server side it's the server that bears the brunt of it. Of course if the server becomes slow this will affect client-side performance, but the idea is to optimise things both sides so that they can increase the zombie count without that happening as well as improving client-side performance.

Moved to DayZ Mod > New Player Discussion. You can find a list of controls in the options menu. G = Gear/inventory M = Map (if you've found one)
-
Yeah, but the difference is that using colourblind mode in that way does not give a player an unfiar advantage in Sim City. The ability to turn on colourblind mode to make it easier to spot people in DayZ would be gamebreaking.
-
Really? It's not been that big an improvement for me. I just don't drop as many frames in massive firefights any more.
-
I wouldn't like to see kill stats or anything that encourages or discourages any particular play styles, and definitely no "score", but I would like to see some basic stuff like hours survived etc.
-
Yeah, I was under the impression that colourblind modes only affected text/HUD as modifying the colours of the actual game would offer a massive unfair advantage to players with perfect eyesight that use colourblind mode.
-
A pristine M4 with pristine parts is pretty accurate in-game...
-
And optimisation will massively improve performance so it will all even out. Compare performance in the PlanetSide 2 alpha to performance now that it's been better optimised for example.

Altis Life for ArmA 3 is epic.

There's no reason to go to the NWAF or the north anymore (here's why)

Indeed. I especially liked the part about C-130 crash sites that force players to run out into the open. -
Will weapon cleaning kit fix ruined scopes?
Mos1ey replied to crazyandlazy's topic in General Discussion
Aside from the fact that the weapon cleaning kit is for cleaning the interior of the weapon itself, and not the scope, one does not simply fix broken glass by cleaning it. It's for preventing your weapon from deteriorating over time. -
Once night-vision goggles are implemented they'll be so rare that you won't have any 90% of the time. It's not worth getting worked up about. :)
