You'll run the game alright on medium settings on that machine. If overclocking your CPU is a possibility that would undoubtedly help things.

"I'm strangely attracted to that zombie" was a popular one for a while. I've seen that on quite a few servers. xD I haven't seen these for quite a long time though.

Yeah, creating an authentic landscape on this kind of scale is quite an undertaking. Now that the team has expanding I have a feeling that if we ever saw a sequel it would feature a purpose built (and possibly larger) new map, but I just don't think it's a realistic ask for the current game unfortunately.

Look at the image, it looks like a missing texture. Have you tried verifying your game files? Locate DayZ in your Steam library. Right-click and select properties. Under the local files tab select verify integrity of game cache.

Chernarus took 5 years to create and the Chernarus+ version used in DayZ has been in development for a further 18 months and is nowhere near complete. Unfortunately it's highly unlikely that we will see additional official maps in DayZ.

Serious question about DayZ looks and performance.
Mos1ey replied to MrBridgeSix's topic in Troubleshooting
Pretty much anything is possible, they're working with the creators of the engine. -
It would just about run the game but IMO it would not be an enjoyable experience. Can't really give a performance estimate as your description is quite vague, but you will definitely be able to run tha game at a playable level on that machine. RV engine games don't tend to take SLi systems that well, you may find that you'd be better off running a single GTX 770 (but then again you might not, it's more of a try it and see type deal) but yes, that combo would run DayZ pretty well.

"An investor is a person who allocates capital with the expectation of a financial return." The customer/community's opinion is important to the developers, but you are not an investor. There is definitely room for improvement with regards to optimisation, no one's trying to deny that. This is something that the devs are constantly working on and if you look at other games with similar development schemes (Minecraft and PlanetSide 2, for example) it's normal that they will not be well optimised to begin with. I maintain 95-100% load on a GTX 780, so that looks like it's a problem at your end (it might be worth checking your power options both in Nvidia Control Panel and the Windows Control Panel to make sure that everything is set for max. performance), but only around 40% load on my 3570K. The game needs to be optimised for multi-core usage, which again will be done in time and will improve performance for most users. -
Spawns On The East, Bet Everyone Thought It Was Stupid...

Yeah, I find that there are usually players in Elektro but Cherno is pretty much a ghost town as well, which seems silly to me as it's the capital city. -

Honestly, I think a large number of people people would just run back to the coast anyway. The cities are the best place to play Call of DayZ. -

Do you have a slow HDD by any chance? That would definitely cause these kinds of loading issues. On a side note - you are not an investor, you're a customer. -

Mos1ey replied to jacobahalls's topic in General Discussion
Not a fan of the idea. Spawning on the coast has become such a big part of DayZ and I don't really see any reason to change it. Also I like the fact that you're much less likely to encounter fresh spawns up north. -

I still think we should switch back to spawning along the whole coast, save for a few Km either side of Balota. -
What if you have a nicer PC? What should your settings be and what FPS should you expect? A low-end PC? Here's a comprehensive guide.

Honestly, I'm not 100% sure how much RAM DayZ can currently use. 4Gb may be recommended to allow the game to use 2Gb with 2Gb remaining for background processes, or it may be the case that DayZ can actually utilise 4Gb of RAM. I just tell it to use my full amount (8GB) as when you set something above the maximum via launch options in an RV engine game it will revert back to the maximum, so no harm done. Also, as you have an i7 CPU you may benefit from disabling HT. It's single core performance you're after for DayZ/RV engine games. -
How do you think DayZ Standalone is going?
Mos1ey replied to Zedertone's topic in General Discussion
It's the lack of progression and variety. In DayZ mod you would pick up an Enfield, then maybe find an M4 or AK on your travels, then you'd search for something like an M14 AIM, DMR or whatever it is that floats your boat. Same with backpacks and tools. There simply aren't enough items in DayZ right now. This will come with time, don't worry. The mod pretty much used ArmA 2 content so it was all there from the get-go. With the new attachments system in DayZ everything has to be prepared from scratch and it's taking a little longer. -

Mos1ey replied to Zedertone's topic in General Discussion
How can you possibly say that progress has been slow? The game hasn't even been out for 6 months yet. xD -
In DayZ mod render distance was locked at around 1600m, in DayZ I'm not sure what the max is but the game automatically sets mine at 2.4km so it can definitely go at least that high. I would have thought it would be able to go right up to 10km similarly to ArmA.

They need to bring back the zombie kill scoreboard and time survived message
Mos1ey replied to pjano's topic in Suggestions
No, IMO it's an immersion breaker, encouraged people to play for "e-peen" and was never that helpful anyway. -

The debug monitor was literally for debugging, it was never an intended "feature" of the mod, hence its removal... -
I'm not convinced that we'll see any more airstrips on the coast. It wouldn't be so bad now that the spawn points have been moved around, but I'm pretty sure that devs want to focus on developing the northern area of the map.
-
They could release the best game of all time and people like you would still complain... :)

Rocket's always been against the idea of a tutorial. I doubt there will be one.

It will run the game but performance will be lacking. Would not recommend. ~30 FPS on low-medium settings. Lower in cities, higher in the wilderness. It will run the game but probably not particularly well. Which HD 6900 card is that though? As I'm sure you can imagine the HD 6970 massively outperforms the 6930. It will run the game but performance will be very poor. The GT 635m is very low spec. Would not recommend purchasing.

I believe there are currently some issues with controller support but having never used one I'm not 100% sure. Xpadder would allow you to map keyboard controls to your gamepad therefore bypassing any issues though. Personally I think I'd take uncomfortable mouse and board gaming over gamepad gaming anyways. :D

Yeah, this is true. A bad server's gonna equate to poor performance regardless of your system specs. It's definitely worth trying a few and then settling on one with a nice ping and decent performance. I'd try dropping object detail, post-process effects and ambient occlusion to off or as low as they go and set shadows to off or high, on normal it's going to put load on your CPU instead of your graphics card. The rest don't have a huge effect on performance.
