Can u like.. make 1.8.7 be like 1.7.6.1 :D
Mos1ey replied to silverblade1233's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Based on my experiences here, in servers and talking with friends that play the mod - yes, the majority opinion is that PvE was far too easy previously and interestingly universal bloodbags and the ability to eat 2 cows for an instant boost to max HP were some of the main reasons for that. There wasn't really much to do aside from PvP once you'd got a grasp on the basic gameplay mechanics. Most of the changes introduced in 1.8 onward are things that the community has been asking for since the beginning. :) -
60°C is perfectly safe for your CPU but have you checked your other temps?

The general consensus is that 1.7 > 1.8 was a massive improvement. I don't think the community devs have much interest in reverting. Last time I checked there were a few servers running older versions of the mod if you need a nostalgia fix though. :) -
I think you'll notice an improvement. :) Your frame rate won't change by a noticeable amount (if at all) but it should definitely be a smoother experience overall. Loading times will also be reduced significantly too, which can only be a good thing.

The best I can do is redirect you to BattlEye, unfortunately... http://www.battleye.com/support/ [email protected] You will notice the following notice on their website though: "It’s your own responsibility to ensure that no one else has access to your cd-key or account. We cannot lift your ban if you were banned as a result of cd-key/account theft." So I'm not sure that they will be able to help, but it's worth a try. Locked.

When I was running Arma and DayZ from a 7200 RPM HDD I noticed significant stuttering when using mouse2 to zoom or when entering a new area and loading textures. I'd imagine that it would be significantly worse on a 5400 RPM HDD (standard for most laptops). I think an SSD is necessary for the smoothest experience possible, but you may be able to reach a level of smoothness that you're happy with purely by tinkering with things like scene complexity and render distance to reduce the amount of loading from your HDD.
-
It's more likely that you simply didn't notice the stuttering as you were already struggling with the choppiness that comes with a low frame rate. If putting an SSD into the new laptop is an option then I would definitely recommend it. Arma and DayZ both benefit tremendously.
-
It sounds like your new laptop is running on a slower hard-drive. Could this be the case?

Use the link in my signature to contact BattlEye Support. Be warned that BattlEye know exactly why you were banned so if you did cheat then you're wasting your time.

He's on a short break. He won't be taking anything for a little while...

The problem here is that the team are busy... Time spent writing reports and communicating with the community about delays is time not spent working on the game itself. I think what would really help is if the team were to hire a community manager for this very purpose but IDK, it's not really my place to make these kind of suggestions. I'm but a humble post shuffler.

I think it's far too early to label the project a failure. Development has definitely fallen way behind schedule and I can fully appreciate why people are frustrated and disappointed by that, but I still trust the devs to learn from their mistakes with regards to project management and deliver a great game in the end.
-
Conception and design are the easy part... WarZ anyone? It's the execution that takes the real time.
-
I don't think this is viable as you'd be able to relay information to friends from beyond the grave. "They're looting my body." etc.
-
I'm undecided as to whether this should be sent to the 'Yard or just left to die. On the one hand I do find it to be somewhat venomous and sarcastic but on the other hand if you do actually want to discuss the dev timeline and future development of DayZ then you're welcome to. Let's put it to a vote...
-
Well that depends on how we carry ourselves around the forums. Some of us won't make it that far... :)

DayZ is a sandbox. This is what it was made for. ^_^
-
Currently server performance doesn't allow for large numbers of infected. Once those issues are resolved the devs will be looking to increase their numbers significantly.
-
It's not just spawn locations or players dying multiple times in a short space of time that cause issues. For example... I have a 2 week old "geared" character and am killed in Zelenogorsk. I have not died within the last 15 minutes therefore all spawns are available to me. I select the Kamenka spawn point and can be back in Zelenogorsk in ~5 minutes. In a game where "permadeath" is supposed to be a key feature, having to stop what you're doing and leave the area in case someone that you just killed respawns and comes back should never be an issue IMO. Another issue is that players who lose "old" characters to PvE are easily (and consistently...) able to return to their corpse and recover all of their gear as if nothing ever happened. In fact I would argue that spawn selection actually encourages this behaviour.
-
Spawn selection is available as a server setting in DayZ mod, it makes revenge killing and returning to your own corpse far too easy IMO. The only way that you could make this work is if the 3 spawn points closest to the location of your death were disabled, or something similar, IMO.
-
Well I'm glad you figured that out because I wouldn't have guessed that it was a TS3 overlay that was causing the problems in a million years... Have you tried Overwolf as an alternative? I used to use it with DayZ with no problems.
-
Have you tried uninstalling your keyboard driver completely then removing and reinserting your keyboard? Also, you say that you managed to find other people suffering from the same (or similar) problem(s) via Google. This is the first that I've heard of the issue. Could you please provide a couple of links? I'm struggling to determine if this is a problem with DayZ itself or some kind of compatibility issue.
-
Are you able to play other games without issue? Have you installed the latest official driver software for your keyboard?
-
Unfortunately this is pretty much impossible to diagnose based on the little information given, but are you playing on the same server? Server performance can severely inhibit client performance, it could be that you just connected to a crummy server.
-
That's not the way that I remember things happening. As I remember the removal of the humanity system was a deliberate design decision made because people (the devs included...) found it to be too contrived.
