Yeah, I also think it's a bit too bright and the rays should be toned down. I mean the sun is pretty damn bright here, but DayZ is supposed to be set in eastern Europe where it's fairly chilly most of the time. I'm sure it will be addressed at some point.

The servers can't currently handle more players unfortunately. They tested 100 slot server at one point and it wasn't too bad, but every time they add new features it takes it's toll on the servers again and they have to backtrack. I would expect to see 100+ slot servers eventually, but later in development.

Doors opening and the laggy vault and hotbar are usually signs of a bad server, I don't think that's anything to do with the game itself. When I played there was one big spike of server lag that rubberbanded everyone back a few hundred metres but apart from that it was smooth as butter.

1-2 years is a long time to develop a game? It takes 2 years to develop a CoD game and that's pretty much a copy/paste job with new maps and weapons and a huge dev team. o.O

Server Reporting System (How can it be improved)
Mos1ey replied to Shrub Rocketeer ™'s topic in Suggestions
This topic has been reopened. The OP is suggesting that the devs create a more user friendly way to report servers that are in violation of the terms of service. -
Play a load of Arma Wasteland. You get used to the intense PvP pretty quickly. :)

there is cheater but where the system ?
Mos1ey replied to Shrub Rocketeer ™'s topic in General Discussion
You can find information on how to report servers that are violating the terms of service here... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/158966-dayz-standalone-server-hosting-rules-server-reporting/ -
Death Cooldown (this is going to be really unpopular...)
Mos1ey replied to 11tw's topic in Suggestions
I think this might be a bit much. I wouldn't mind a cooldown for the specific server that you died on though. The idea of people running back to their bodies when they die irks me a little. -
It's worth a try, but most of the NE coastal guys are the deathmatch/KoS players. You'll usually have more luck with the other 10 that are just surviving in the other areas of the map.
-
This, pretty much.^^ In a 40/40 server you can almost guarantee that 30 are spread between Berezino, Krastinav and Svetlo.
-
I think this could be very difficult within the engine, but with all the changes that the devs have planned who knows. If possible it could be a good feature and make zombies more of a threat.

Why must we have some kind of tool to open cans?
Mos1ey replied to nickspacemonkey's topic in Suggestions
Would you rather have to find a can opener or mash "F" for 6 minutes while your character performs a can squashing animation? -
WHY are the big buildings not big?
Mos1ey replied to Shrub Rocketeer ™'s topic in General Discussion
I'm pretty sure that he meant geographically, and geographically some of it is pretty damn close... -
EXP Rubberbanding fixed - Pushing to EXP to confirm, then Stable
Mos1ey replied to inphared's topic in General Discussion
If you rubberband back to a house you have to take a different route away from it. Hopefully it's fixed now though... -
EXP Rubberbanding fixed - Pushing to EXP to confirm, then Stable
Mos1ey replied to inphared's topic in General Discussion
Were you playing on the experimental build? It was really bad. -

Will zombie behavior ever be addressed?
Mos1ey replied to Ransurian's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
As far as I'm aware they will never run indoors and they will never be able to attack while running in the mod, so certain measures will always have to be taken to assist them in actually being able to hit players. Pretty much everything else is fixeable though. -
Makes sense. I actually like the fact that they don't allow everyone and their mother to host a server... 1) There aren't 10 billion vehicle easy-mode servers 2) There aren't 10 billion half-full servers because everyone wants to own a server and feel important But the desync I do not like... :(
-
You're right though, the sensitivity is too damn high. You can turn it down in your config. The min. in-game is 0.2, i'm on 0.1 with 400 DPI and it's still pretty high for me...
-
Well I only ever join servers that are pretty much full, but I don't have the same problem in Wasteland.
-
I dunno if it's just me but while performance is fine frame rate-wise, I get massive amounts of desync in Breaking Point.
-
In fairness Rocket's wording at E3 wasn't great.
-
Try Wastleland, it runs more or less as well as the single player campaigns with 100 players on the map. It's the dodgy scripting in things like Altis Life that cause the game to perform poorly, not the engine.

The scary truth about the firestaton...
Mos1ey replied to Cap'n (DayZ)'s topic in General Discussion
That's a bit of a mouthful. You could call it boxes and stairs and tables and chairs for short. -
They had 100 slot servers running alright during the last experimental build and things should improve once we start using 64bit servers. You can't blame the engine for Altis Life getting screwy with 100 players on the map, lol.
