First vs Third Person Discussion (Dslyecxi video)
Mos1ey replied to DemonGroover's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Cheat topics aren't allowed because they can give people hints as to how to go about cheating. As long as people post in the correct place and the forums aren't full of 10 of the same topic then I don't think any subject should be prohibited without good reason. -- Merged with and reopened the old 1pp vs 3pp topic. -
No, technically it hasn't been released yet. This is early access. Developers usually use a lower price point for early access to encourage people to invest early, while the game is clearly in an unfinished state. They were always pretty clear in expressing their intentions to raise the price as development continued.
-
Unfortunately I don't think you'll be able to run DayZ on that rig as it is a bit outdated. I doubt that's the news that you wanted to hear, but better that than you having spending money on a game that you can't play. Topics merged.

This is correct. Animations have always been clunky and awkward in RV engine. Anyone that played the earlier iterations of DayZ mod in Arma 2 will remember the horrifying ordeal that was trying to vault over a fence while being chased by infected... I think we're going to have to wait for the new renderer until we can properly pass judgement on animations.
-
I take it you never played the mod... I wouldn't be surprised if they were added at some point.
-
Yes, your ban is permanent and will not be lifted under any circumstances. Locked.
-
With the current performance issues surrounding cities this just isn't possible at this stage in development. Judging by the changes that were made between the Arma 2 and DayZ versions of Chernarus I'd say that this is something that the devs are interested in pursuing later though.
-
Performance optimisation is usually taken care of towards the end of development. Having to deal with poor performance on a decent system is annoying, I know, but the improvements that I saw towards the end of Arma 3's development give me faith.

Same, I thought we were gonna be comparing porn collections. I'll get my coat...
-
Which items in specific are you referring to? I've never really found anything to lacking in the black department, although I've been stuck with an awful laptop and unable to play DayZ for quite some time now...
-
Sure, when carefully chosen to mirror what's happening on screen. It takes all of two seconds for a walk through the forest to turn into a gunfight in DayZ and then suddenly the atmosphere is completely wrong. If you like to listen to music while you play then that's fine, but like I said - I prefer game sound and that's what I'll be sticking with.
-
Video for entertainment =/= gameplay for immersion
-
I think it's very personal. For me the sound of the ambient sounds are much more immersive than any music.
-
I find that music breaks the atmosphere. I prefer to play with just game sound. :)
-
I think he actually understands that what I said is fact and is taking a kind of "this is what I choose to believe because I enjoy the game more that way" stance, which is fine I guess.
-
I don't think anyone really knows what the "Z" in "DayZ" stands for. I don't think Rocket ever confirmed it either way. I can tell you that DayZ was a working title that he had no intention of sticking with (...and didn't actually like) until the mod blew up unexpectedly and he was kind of stuck with it though.

That's just how game development works, unfortunately. The art team are constantly working on new clothing models and so on, then once they're done actually coding them into the game and having them spawn is a small task, so you'll notice that they keep coming in a steady stream. AI (zombies) is a much more strenuous task. It can take a very long time to make even the smallest improvements. Programming AI is one of the most difficult tasks in game development and very few people are qualified to do it. It's not like they can call the art team in to help because we have enough clothing and so on for the time being, as nice as that would be.

I think you'll find that a lot of action game developers (Dice, Infinity Ward and Treyarch to name but a few...) are quite vocal about meeting with lots of different weapons specialists in order to accurately represent the feel, sound and handling of these weapons in their games. Also to claim that games are being used to market guns could be construed as somewhat ignorant given that developers have to pay arms manufacturers to use their names and weapons in a game, hence Metal Gear Solid V using fictional weapons (Kojima is a pacifist and didn't want to fund arms manufacturers any more).
-
You can lead a horse to water...
-
The developers have confirmed on multiple occasions that the "zombies" in DayZ are humans infected with some kind of virus, not undead. In fact Rocket actually had a virologist write a paper on the virus that exists within the DayZ universe with the possibility of featuring it in the game at some point.
-
Yeah, that makes sense. So have you got everything to where you thought it would be with regards to performance then?
-
Ah, okay. It might be worth checking for a firmware update for your drive. It also might be worth running something like CrystalDiskInfo to check that your drive is in good health and functioning correctly. I can't be sure that it's a problem with your new drive but it's possible given that you weren't having issues with FPS drops until you installed it. If you can rule that out then the next thing to do would be to check your DayZ installation for issues. Verify integrity of game cache in Steam, and then if that still doesn't help then maybe try a complete reinstall, being sure to remove all config files left over from the previous installation. For the most part I'm finding Windows 10 to be pretty good. It definitely runs faster and is lighter than Windows 7, but it does seem to have some strange issues that I think will probably be ironed out over time.
-
Did you restart your system and try to run DayZ again? Especially since upgrading to Windows 10 I find that I'll sometimes have mysterious performance issues that are fixed by a simple restart. When you say you followed the same settings guide do you mean in the software provided by Samsung with the drive? Have you run any kind of health check to make sure that the drive isn't faulty?
-
Is this a new issue that only started since you installed the new drive?
