They're rare statistically but there are a load of loot spawn points at hospitals so you actually have a pretty good chance of finding them.

Hi guys, For the past few days I've had a black border around the edge of my game when playing OA/DayZ. I was using 720p (native res) with 1920x1080 3D res and it was filling my whole screen with no issues. I then dropped my 3D res a bit as the server I was playing on was giving me pretty poor FPS and the black border appeared. I've tried many different 3D res settings and it doesn't make a difference, tried reverting my graphics options to default and the various preset options - it did nothing. When I'm home from work I'm gonna move my config files and let ArmA create new ones. After that I'm pretty much fresh out of ideas though. :( I'm not having issues with any other games so it must be some kind of ArmA issue. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance... Edit: System specs... 720p shitty LCD monitor i7 870 8Gb RAM HD 6970 2Gb DDR5 Probably irrelevant but might as well give as much info as possible.

Reinstalling graphics drivers did nothing and removing my config files defaulted all my options but I still have black bars. D: Gonna try a complete reinstall tonight, I think...

I don't think they should be removed but I like the idea of them requiring maintenance.

Yes, I tried windowed mode and switching back to 720. It didn't help. I don't think it's a GPU related problem because its only OA/DayZ that I have issues with. Might as well try reinstalling drivers though, it can't hurt. Will try and report back. Thanks again for the input. Any other ideas would be appreciated if anyone has any? xD

I like the idea of 'psychopaths', that's a nice way to distinguish between those who kill out of necessity from those who kill for fun. The looting idea wouldn't work though. Yesterday I came under fire from a group in a car. I dropped one of them before running like hell and managing to escape. I didn't loot the corpse so apparently I'm a psychopath? Running to try and loot he corpse in that situation would have been psychotic... xD

I've tried this and no they don't, lol. I was playing with them mismatched with no problems. Boosting 3D res gives you better texture resolutions. Thanks for the reply anyway.

Met a noob in a private hive about a week ago, took him on a tour around Stary, a couple of helis and the airfield and he spent more time making sweet love to the ground than anything else, lol. Got me all nostalgic. :')

Eating up anything that's put in front of you without thinking about ways it could be improved. You are aware that DayZ is still in alpha, therefore the time for making changes like this would be now, right? DayZ was just intended as a tech demo for persistant worlds, it's hardly a polished, finished game...

Just look at the server name, most are called something along the lines of 'UK 1' or 'US 2' depending on where the server is based then you can just join the same server next time.

Low spec system vs. ArmA 2 You're fighting a losing battle there, lol. The only things I can recommend are disabling post-processing effects and AA as they both eat a fair bit of FPS. I'm sure there will be some advanced config tweaks out there if you Google it though.

I don't think it has anything to do with hand holding or crybabies. The fact of the matter is - being able to thermal scan through bushes is overpowered, having perfect vision during the darkest nights is overpowered, and a sniper rifle that 1 shot kills anything is overpowered. Have you played SurviveDayZ mod? They have all sniper rifles, NVG, rangefinder and the L85 disabled and the game plays out much better.

If you're happy to pay for ArmA II:CO knowing that the DayZ mod will be obsolete in a few months then go for it. If not then wait for the standalone.

Can't play without your duped NVG and thermal? Lol... The game would be better off without NVG, range finders, L85 and AS50 TBH. I'll use them until they're removed so I'm not puttin myself at a disadvantage though.

IMO zombies should be brainless. I find the idea that they would able to think to a certain extent (enough to use tools, group up, etc.) yet still know nothing more than attacking/hunting to be contradictory...

I'm still playing a few hours most nights in private hives. :) Haven't seen a hacker for weeks and the community's better anyway. It's more like DayZ used to be. 50:50 / friendlies:bandits, instead of the deathmatch fuckfest that we're all used to these dayZ. SurviveDayZ mod is pretty good too TBH. WarZ looks like shit, lol. If you didn't have to pay to get on the alpha/beta then I'd probably check it out, but there's not a chance in hell I'm paying money for it when it looks cartoony as fuck, with messed up/harmless zombies, and it's more than likely gonna be a pay2play and payagain2win disaster anyway. I just pity the parents that are gonna end up footing the bill for these kiddies, LOL. If anything I'm hoping WarZ will help weed out some of the arseholes of the DayZ community. ^_^

Tornado's don't happen in Europe either, lol. We don't have natural disasters other than flooding TBH...

Those maps aren't official. Posting suggestions for them here is pointless, and Rocket has more than enough on his plate right now with the standalone. Extra official maps aren't worth thinking about for a long, long time.
