By competitive gaming I mean playing with an organised team against other organised teams in ladders, cups or at LANs. Whatever. I don't really see how there can be a difference in opinion there? As for being 'hardcore', that's purely a matter of opinion and IMO not really something you should strive for. I only mentioned it because you did... And Gamebattles is pretty much the special olympics of gaming. Running around in the new CoD games, with dead silence, throwing stuns at everything. Dem_skills. I'd keep that one quiet to avoid embarassment if I were you TBH. If the competitive scene's anything to go by then I'd say a person's platform says a lot about their skill, lol.

What people need to understand is that the leaked hardware for the Xbox 720 is lower spec than my PC (which I'm upgrading soon...) and I can't run DayZ on max settings, lol. The current gen consoles (360/PS3) would probably melt if they tried to port ArmA to console... They just aren't meant for games like this.

The first time I spawned in it was pitch black and I had no idea where I was. I saw a player with flares in a boat and figured he must be friendly or he wouldn't just be out in the open on the coast like that so I went over and said 'hi'. He didn't say anything but he saluted and got out of the boat. I started moving cautiously up the coast, he followed and soon we arrived in a small town (probably Kamyshovo, but I have no idea. I was new...). I could hear zombies but it was so dark that I could only see them when they were silhouetted against the sky. I went prone and started crawling, turned around to check what the other guy was doing and he fired at me. I emptied my revolver into his face and he was dead. I ran like hell away from the town, bandaged and left the game. Traumatised... xD

The advantage of being a bandit is that you take people's loot! Doesn't really need any more...

Watching a priest murder an innocent survivor then chasing him through Cherno for 5 minutes before unloading an M1014 in to the back of his head. Only in SurviveDayZ mod... LOL. Is there anything you could do to help performance in Cherno/Elektro/Berezino? I'm fine on most of the map but everything goes to shit once I get to a big city, and I don't have a bad PC, lol...

The first few days where you have no idea what's going on are the best TBH. I'd advise not doing a shitload of research and using online maps and stuff to start off with. You're basically bypassing the fun part of the game and skipping to the repetitive grind in doing that...

The original skin gave better camouflage than the survivor/hero skins. That's why they changed it in the first place... A new bandit skin would be nice for the standalone but he current one is fine for the mod IMO. I double killed a pair of guys that fired on me at the airfield ages ago and I think I'm stuck with a bandit skin forever... My humanity's been back at 2500 for a long time and my skin won't change. :C Anyone need a blood transfusion? xD

There's a proper guide to FoV in ArmA on the forums somewhere. I'd recommend using that to fully understand how it works because it uses vertical FoV and radians and won't work if you calculate it incorrectly. The values depend on your in game resolution and aspect ratio, so it's quite complicated, lol. I've changed mine to an 80 degree view angle and that's working much better for me. I use 80-90 in most FPS games. I used to have toggle zoom out bound to middle mouse and was playing zoomed out for the most part and toggling it off for firing, obviously didn't work for scoped weapons though.

If all else fails - join a high population server and wait for the thunderdome. xD

If you're playing just to kill people then why are you playing DayZ? There are countless games out there that should appeal more to people like you. It seems to me like it's just because it's easier to do well when not everyone will shoot at you even if they see you... There's nothing wrong with PvP, it is part of the game. I just miss the times when people would only kill you to get geared up, not just for +1 murder because they think it makes them more badass.

You know ArmA 2 actually has it's own server browser, right? o.o I only use Commander for updates.
