It is a laptop and that's a dual-core i5. That system's nowhere near good enough to play DayZ, sorry.

You've done something wrong. Did you tell DayZ Commander to load DayZ mod from it's new location on the virtual drive?

ZOMBIES NEED THESE CHANGES SO THEY CAN BE PART OF THE GAME
Mos1ey replied to shikanosuke's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
DayZ+ features much more powerful zombies. They deal 1000-2000 damage per hit. -
What makes you think that an idea that only got one or two replies would get more up-votes? :S

Haven't played for a little while but the AWA servers are usually packed to the point that it can be hard to get in at times.

Fraps or dxtory are both good. :)

Don't make pointless posts that don't contribute to the discussion at hand, please.

Thinking of buying ARMA II just for this game. Few ?s
Mos1ey replied to varack's topic in New Player Discussion
DayZ has a very steep learning curve and can be extremely difficult for new players. That's part of it's charm though, it isn't supposed to be easy. Most servers hold 30-60 players, there are some that exceed this but 1) Chernarus can become a little crowded with more than 60 players and 2) most servers tend to struggle when they're filled with a huge amount of players. It kind of sounds like you're approaching DayZ the wrong way though, it's not a 'run around and kill everyone' game, like Battlefield, it's an open world survival sim. Personally, I like both but L4D and DayZ shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence. -
They have the guy who wrote the RV engine in the first place working on the game so at this point pretty much anything is possible. :) I wouldn't expect miracles in the initial alpha build but it should be much smoother than in the mod.

DayZ-Mod on steam created screenshots when i killed my first zed
Mos1ey replied to joschaap's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Are you sure your game didn't just freeze for a second? Lol. I don't believe mods loaded through Steam can have their own Steam achievements or automate Steam screenshots. -
Yeah, it makes a strange sound and puff of smoke as if it were a gun, lol. It also explains the need to reload it in the past. Mellee combat should be much smoother in the standalone. :) If I want to run around with a hatchet I'll usually leave enough stuff at camp that I have room for my primary in my backpack. TBH most of the time I'll just lead zeds into buildings and then run away without killing them anyway. Saves time, effort and a bit of blood.

How would you like your foodstuffs in DayZ Mod presented? (Multiple choice)
Mos1ey replied to Kra's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Either the current name brands (I don't think the mod will have copyright issues, so they should be fine) or any of the 'fictional "knock off" brands' options sound good to me. :) 'Lil' of column A & B (Have the boring/serious stuff as common, silly/tributes as ultra rare easter eggs)' sounds cool too. -
In DayZ mod the hatchet is a primary weapon as ARMA 2 doesn't support mellee combat. The hatchet is a reskinned gun with miniscule range. I'm not sure if it's possible to change this in the mod.

This isn't a suggestion. Moved to Private Hive Discussion. The suggestions sub-forum is for suggestions for the DayZ mod and/or standalone.

I wouldn't be surprised if a Mac version was made available somewhere down the line. For now you can use Boot Camp (or similar software) to run Windows on your Mac though.

This. ^^ From what I've heard the two most common ways for your key to be stolen are through dodgy .exe files disguised as performance enhancers for DayZ, and ironically similar dodgy .exe files disguised as hacks. I wouldn't recommend downloading anything other than DayZ Commander for use with DayZ.

You can use a map of Chernarus like either of these... http://dayzmap.info/ http://dayzdb.com/map ...To find your way around. The area that you're in pops up in the bottom-right hand corner when you connect to a server. Finding a map, compass and/or GPS in-game are pretty helpful too, other than that you'll have to use online maps and landmarks. I find using the edges of tree lines works to be the easiest way. Real world orienteering skills (using things like the sun position and stars) also work in game, and the wind in Chernarus always blows east so you can check which way the clouds are moving too. You should hit 'Esc' and quit until you're back to the server's lobby screen where you can see the list of players in the server, then you should reconnect and you will be able to create a new character. A bit convoluted, I know, but DayZ is still a mod, lol. It sounds like you've played on a private hive server, just make sure you join the same server again next time (DayZ Commander has a useful 'favourite servers' feature) and you should pick up exactly where you left off.

If you've had your key stolen then it's advisable to format your hard-drive and reinstall your OS before buying the game again as whatever software was used to steal the key may well have planted itself somewhere that you aren't likely to find it and is just sending any new keys you buy straight to a hacker.

There are friendly/no-PvP servers around but I'd imagine you'd get bored quite quickly as it's a big part of the game and they tend to give you ridiculous amounts of 'starter gear', night-vision and all, and there isn't a whole lot left to do. I'd recommend using our Clan / Group Recruitment sub-forum to seek out some like minded players to play with instead. You can find it here... http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/forum/69-clan-group-recruitment/ As said above - your progress is saved automatically, if you're playing on the main hive then your character will carry across to any other main hive servers, tents and vehicles will only be stored on the one server though. If you're playing on a private hive then your character will most likely exist only on that particular server. You'll learn where to find food etc. as you become more familiar with the game. Good luck!

I have a feeling that may have been me. I usually PM people when I move or hide their topics so they don't wonder where it's gone and post it again but I may have been busy at the time and forgotten. If it was indeed me then I'm sorry.

R4ZOR said something about having to right-click and select 'run with ARMA 2 beta' when loading DayZ with Steam. I haven't actually run the mod through Steam yet so I can't be more specific, sorry.

You can get infected from being shot?
Mos1ey replied to INickeragua's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I think there has been a small chance of becoming 'infected' after being hit by a zed for a long time. Not 100% sure but I thought I remembered reading that in patch notes ages ago. -
IW and Treyarch used to be great devs until Activision devoured their souls. :(

The Graveyard is for threads that shouldn't really have been posted in the first place, not threads that have just run their course. :) If the thread's done then it'll die of natural causes.

Disagreeing =/= trolling. The mindset of a child in 2013. 'In Internet slang, a troll (pron.: /ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is someone who posts inflammatory,[1] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as a forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[2] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[3]' Funnilly enough, you're the one trolling.
