How do you start off in SA?

IMO it would be logical to spawn with randomised clothing but I'm not sure if it's even been decided yet.
  2. The bloom effect has been toned down massively in the standalone and as I said above - if the current SA server is anything to go by then the only setting that's locked is the render distance.

    Stats on main page...

    Well one thing's for sure...
  4. Depends on the max. render distance set by the server. For the vast majority it's 1600m in DayZ. Also, in DayZ standalone render distance is the only graphical setting set by the server. The rest you are able to set yourself.
  5. It's the CPU, it's incredibly weak by today's standards.
  6. I appreciate that you took the time to write it up but I strongly disagree with pretty much everything you said other than that zombies should be buffed. It's a survival sim. Death should absolutely be the end of your character and their progress. IMO all saved tents and vehicles belonging to your character should also despawn when you die, the vehicles should then respawn on next server restart. Like I've said before - humans are drawn to the path with least resistance. Opening up the game to modding or even mission file editing would just end with us having to choose between playing on starter gear, 9,001 vehicles and 24/7 daylight servers or more or less empty real servers. I truly hope the standalone stays locked up securely.
  7. I'm fairly confident that this is the solution to your issue. BAF (missing files mentioned in your error) refers to the British Armed Forces DLC and free versions of a lot of the content will be included in that patch. :)
  8. Yeah, 1.11 is the latest version AFAIK. :) For future reference - if you buy a CD copy of a game it's likely that you will have to install additional updates to play it online.
  9. No, just loading it up to the main menu is all that's needed. Have you updated ARMA 2? http://www.arma2.com/supply/game-updates
  10. Also, make sure you run your new installation of stock ARMA 2 at least once before trying to run DayZ with it.
  11. That's doubtful. Most people with regular internet connections have a much lower upload speed than download, meaning that a server hosted by them would be pretty slow. Even if he's in the same town as you you'd more than likely be looking at 50-100ms depending on yours and his connection speeds.
  12. Ping is the latency between you and the server, measured in milliseconds. 40 ping = 40ms between what is actually happening on the server and what is represented on your screen. You should always try to have the lowest ping possible. The main factors are 1) your connection and 2) how close to you the server is located. Other than shutting off anything else that may be eating up your bandwidth, getting a better connection or connecting to a server that's located closer to you there isn't a whole lot that you can do.

    Improve mechanics and visual details

He is. And IMO it should be left as is because it makes aiming more realistic.

    Improve mechanics and visual details

CoD and CS are arcade shooters. ARMA is a military simulator. You aren't supposed to be able to twitch aim, lol. Ragdoll physics are being implemented so the death animations will be more in line with games like L4D, I guess.

    GLOBAL BANNED!

To me it sounds like you downloaded something dodgy and someone's stealing your keys. Generally they'll be marketed as DayZ FPS boosters or even cheatss and it'll hide a random file somewhere on your PC that you'll never find it and sends ARMA keys to the hacker responsible, even if you deleted the original file that you downloaded. You need to format your hard-drives and reinstall Windows if you plan on buying the game again. Either way - we don't deal with global bans, they're issued by BattlEye, so there's nothing we can do. Locked.

    Better swimming

I think you'll find that they carry a small SMG, maybe a sidearm and 2 or 3 mags, not an AS50 with 5 mags and an M240 with 2 box mags in their backpack, lol. Every detail doesn't have to be 100% realistic as long as it's representative enough of real life situations to be immersive. :)

    Decentralizing loot

The map and loot system have both been reworked for the standalone.

    Lag

It's probably your connection. ARMA 2 uses quite a bit of bandwidth and I've found that if your connection isn't up to scratch it's a lot more noticeable than in other games.
  19. Hmm... I'll give that a go in the name of science next time I get on. I really can't imagine it working though. :S
  20. 1. They do, don't they? :S 2. I don't think that's correct, lol. For a start using the 2xW sprint makes you go into a full upright position and then hitting X would just drop you down to a crouch-run.
  21. You mean 0.325% running speed as their idle speed? If you crouch run on concrete or gravel they'll hear your footsteps, it's not the same as standing still. You've lost me completely. :S
  22. I mean most of the time you won't pull aggro unless you sprint on concrete so I don't see why zombies shuffling around would aggro each other, lol. And I'm not sure what you mean by those percentages, I'm guessing you don't actually mean 0.325% speed? Because that would be kinda slow. o.O
