    Always incorrect version. Help. Now.

On top of what's already been said - the standalone wasn't postponed, we went from having no idea when it was going to be released to being told that they would review the situation (i.e. potentially set a date for release) in June.

Big Performance Issues on a Good PC

From what I've seen the 8350 is just short of the i7 3770k, seems to be a really good CPU, although I would recommend overclocking.

Big Performance Issues on a Good PC

The main problem is your CPU. 1) ARMA doesn't like AMD CPUs. 2) That's a tri-core with 2 logical cores per physical, games only really benefit from physical cores. You would see a performance increase if you installed ARMA 2, ARMA 2:OA and DayZ mod to the SSD though, hard-drive speed is quite important. Also, make sure post-process effects and anti-aliasing are completely disabled, they eat a lot of FPS.

I'd like Rocket to do more with fire

I think molotovs will probably be a craftable item in the standalone. (Not confirmed it just seems like an obvious idea) I don't really see any need for the ability to start forest fires though, seems a bit pointless to me.

Want to increase FPS in dayz

No, your processor is the problem. A dual-core just isn't enough to cope with DayZ. Ideally you want a 3Ghz quad-core. Your graphics card is also quite weak but your main problem is the CPU. I'd recommend making sure that post-process effects and anti-aliasing are disabled. Try everything else at normal.
  6. That's the beauty of a Steam release. Every time an update is released Steam will automatically download and install it for you. I assume all servers will keep up to date with the latest version, so everything should be super-easy. :)
  7. Best. Sentence. Ever.
  8. Well you don't actually have 8 cores, you have 4 dividing themselves in 2. All that really does is create more idle time as processes are switched between cores. It's only actually good for rendering videos or excessive multitasking.
  9. Assuming you're talking about an i7 you'd actually be much better off disabling hyperthreading and using -CPUCount=4. :)

    Got day Z today...HELP!!!!

Delete your @DayZ folder and reinstall the latest ARMA 2 beta patch and mod using DayZ Commander... http://www.dayzcommander.com/ If you spawned as a bird then there's a problem with your installation. Also Alienware PCs aren't the be all and end all that people think they are, if you've maxed the settings out then turn them down a bit. The X51 won't run max settings.

    DayZ, buying it now?

The standalone isn't being released in June, they're 'reviewing the situation' (i.e. hopefully releasing a date) in June. Yes, if you buy ARMA 2 you have to pay for the standalone, they're seperate games.
  14. Agreed. Please use the existing thread... http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/132316-is-the-standalone-all-about-money/ Locked.
  15. He's talking about what has actually been implemented into the game at this point, not what they're planning on doing.

What I want to see in the standalone

It's a big melting-pot engine, not just ToH. It's kind of a cross between ToH and RV3 with a lot of assets back-ported from ARMA 3 and a lot of it's own. I'd call it it's own engine TBH, it's not similar enough to any others to call it a modified x engine.

    can you play dayz offline

Singleplayer won't be available in the standalone, it's a multiplayer game.
  18. To be fair Chernarus+ will hold a lot more players than Chernarus did. It has so many new areas and things added to other areas that will draw players to places on the map that used to be deserted. 150 does sound a bit ambitous though, I hope there are some servers with a lower capacity.

    Need help with dayz requirements

Depends on how many cores it has as well as other variables, the exact model would make it easier to help you. It also depends on the rest of your system - graphics card, RAM and hard-drive. Please use the 'Can I Run It?' thread, which you can find here... http://dayzmod.com/forum/index.php?/topic/64576-can-i-run-it-ask-here/ Thanks.
  20. They're talking about making the servers 150 slot, IMO that's about twice as many people as can fit comfortably in Chernarus. With 6k players you'd have well over a thousand players each in Cherno and Elektro, the game would be a mess, lol.
  21. Without proof this is just slander. Also, the idiot that you're refering to is probably the guy paying for the server. It's like walking in to someone's house and complaining that any idiot can be a homeowner when they ask you to leave, lol. Locked.
