You'll need the beta version to play DayZ. It's at the very top of the 'updates' list in DayZ Commander. :)

Have you downloaded the latest ARMA 2 beta patch as well as the latest DayZ version?

You can buy hard copies of ARMA 2 but you will still need to download the relevant patches and of course DayZ mod.

How will DayZ Standalone be sold?

I think it will be a Steam exclusive as it's so easy to distribute updates via Steam, some other places (BIS and DayZ websites) may sell Steam keys though, we don't know yet. -
You should set mouse smoothing all the way to 0, sensitivity has it's own setting though.

Yeah, you have to pay to release an update on Xbox so it just wouldn't make sense to start porting until the finished 1.0 version is released on PC. It'll be at least a year after the PC version of the standalone goes into public alpha until they start work on the console version.

Indeed, your character data is stored server side so you'll be exactly where you left off unless you buy a new copy of Arrowhead.

This.^ You're unable to use the zoom-out feature with some weapons. You can modify your FOV to be wider and it will be the same with all weapons though.

It's supposed to be a survival sim, it's not always about what you want to do but what you have to do to survive. A 'group spawn' option might be implemented in the standalone, where you and any friends that are spawning as new characters have the option to spawn together but I highly doubt that you will ever be able to select your spawn point. -
Yup, that's what I do. An autorun button in the standalone would be nice though.

A bacterial infection could easily cause decay. -
Make sure antialiasing, post-process effects, ATOC, PPAA and shadows are completely disabled in your graphics settings and try setting video memory to 'default' (this makes sure that the game uses all of your available video memory) and setting everything else to 'normal'. Setting things to low will dump the load on your CPU instead of your graphics card and will probably end up hurting your performance in the long run. Also, make sure 'mouse smoothing' is disabled. It tends to make the game feel more sluggish.

That's not very good advice considering you don't know anything other than that he's having FPS issues. First of all what are you specs? (processor, RAM and graphics card) And have you tried disabling antialiasing, ATOC, PPAA, post-process effects and setting everything else to normal or low?

I think pretty much everyone on the forums would agree with me when I say that the first month or so when I was completely lost in Chernarus and learning the ropes was the best. And a lot of us (myself included) started playing when the mod was a brutally buggy mess. Your hunger and thirst depleted while you were offline and aggrod zombies would run through buildings as if they weren't even there when I first started playing, lol. -
