TrackIR 5 - the hat that got me killed
Mos1ey replied to JeffDetroit's topic in New Player Discussion
Last I heard it was 480p? -
Viktor, you probably don't even know about the lizardmen that are secretly controlling our governments... Locked. @OP - Contact BattlEye support... http://www.battleye.com/support.html

I've been playing 1920x1080, texture detail - 'very high' and everything else turned down as low as it can go lately for the FPS boost. Sue me. There's nothing like running around in a 60/60 server with 100 FPS. xD

TrackIR 5 - the hat that got me killed

In all honesty I don't think the Rift looks that great, the screen res seems far too low for one thing. I think I'll wait for the Oculus Rift 2 when they've sorted all of the issues out. xD -
Can we chill out on the gifspam please. There's a topic for that already.

Hip Fire Too Good on Snipers
Mos1ey replied to Rick the Survivor's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
When you fire from the hip you're more or less firing in a general direction as opposed to truly aiming. You shouldn't have pinpoint accuracy, I agree with the OP. :) -
I died to zombies this evening... I had full blood and I got hit once and fell unconscious, woke up and instantly fell unconscious again... You are dead. Probably the most degrading experience of my life thus far.
-
The hero skin... I play solo most of the time and every time I play it's more or less guaranteed that someone will force me to kill them. It's actually a struggle for me to maintain 2500 humanity, nevermind 5000.
-
Because they have nothing better to do.

getting the dayz mod from steam or dayz commander?
Mos1ey replied to alfiejr's topic in New Player Discussion
I'd recommend DayZ Commander. As mentioned above it gives you easy access to a tonne of DayZ inspired mods and has some other cool features. :) -
And comic sans! :D Honestly, it's like me coming into your room while you're still in bed and saying 'Mate, your hair looks like shit. Sort it out.' when the reality is that you haven't done it yet, lol.
-
Yes, it's more than likely going to be changed. The art team have barely touched the game at this point, it's mostly placeholders created by the coders. I really can't believe the Reddit guys are complaining about the font in a pre-alpha build...

Go home d, you're drunk.
-
No, they're making a DayZ movie.

Survival at all costs or just lucky?
Mos1ey replied to teas926's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I had a 208 day old character up until a few days ago but decided to kill him and start over as I only actually played maybe 50 of them, lol. Once you get to around the 30 day mark (if you actually play every day), I'd say you're beyond dumb luck as luck tends not to be consistant enough to get you by for that length of time. -
-cpucount=4 -exthreads=5 -maxmem=2047 -xp Try adding those, just to make sure the game's detecting your hardware properly.^ And change the following values in your ARMA2OA.cfg... GPU_MaxFramesAhead=0; GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=1; Also make sure that mouse smoothing is completely turned off in-game, if it isn't already.

I haven't used Nvidia Control Panel for a very long time so I'll struggle to help you there. In Catalyst we have a 'use application settings' option for every setting, I would either recommend that or forcing them lower. What launch paramaters are you currently using? Making sure that they're correct for your system might buy you a few more FPS.
-
Yup, should run great on close to max settings.
-
That's because when you use 'very low' or 'low' settings the load is put on your CPU instead of your graphics card. I'd set anything that can be disabled to 'disabled' and then set texture detail to 'normal' or 'high' (whichever gives best results) and object detail to 'normal'. Video memory should be set to 'default' to ensure that the game can use all of your available video memory.

DayZ was actually only intended as a tech demo for something that Rocket was doing with persistant worlds. Again, I don't think 'it was added to the game in the beginning therefore it should stay' is a very strong argument at the expense of achieving a more authentic survival experience.

No DevBlog this week but here is some screens
Mos1ey replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Hey, if you squint that almost looks like the alphabet! -
Nope, Rocket said that it would most likely be sub-let to another company to develop. It would pretty much mean more monayyys to develop the PC version and future projects.

I know... Pre-alpha? Better complain about the UI... -
I envisage it being something like the Minecraft port. A bit dumbed down, smaller world, simplified controls etc. It won't be the same but a console version would work.
-
I highly doubt it. I'm talking about Microsoft charging the developers to release updates, not the end-user paying for them.
