Etiquette around people sitting by a fire?
Mos1ey replied to Death By Crowbar's topic in General Discussion
This is why I wish characters were locked to a single server. -
Like R4Z0R said - the zombies had a lower attack range before and they simply couldn't hit you unless you stopped moving. The zombies have to stop moving to play the attack animation (Arma AI issue, there's nothing that can be done about it unfortunately), so the only way to make them actually able to hit a player is to give them a slightly buffed attack range. Also if we were to have a single blood type per player then they might as well be removed IMO. Having to find a blood testing kit before you're able to get a blood transfusion is part of the challenge. It just adds another thing to the "to-do list" of a newly spawned character.

Extreme lag as soon as I get to the menu of the game with a £2000 computer
Mos1ey replied to gregthegangster's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
I apologise but he's right, you don't meet the minimum requirements which state Intel HD 4000 graphics with 512Mb VRAM. At any rate if you're thinking of buying a game and want it to run smoothly you should always make sure that you're above the recommended specs, nevermind the minimum. In most cases the min. specs refer to the specs needed to run the game at all without receiving an error message of some kind and it refusing to open. Also a 2.8Ghz CPU that performs at 5.29Ghz also doesn't make sense, that's some kind of mistake on the part of the site. They don't make CPUs that run at 5Ghz as stock at this point and to overclock a CPU that high you generally need water-cooling in a well ventilated desktop build. You simply couldn't run a laptop at that speed, it would melt. My CPU, for example, is clocked to 3.4Ghz as stock and I'm running at 4.5Ghz with an aftermarket cooler that I bought and I don't think I'll be pushing it any further than this without switching to water cooling. I don't think overclocking from 2.8Ghz to 5.3Ghz would be possible without liquid nitrogen. xD -
Well the absolute minumum requirements for DayZ as specified by the developers are a 2.4Ghz dual-core CPU with Intel HD 4000 integrated graphics. You're running a 1.8Ghz with Intel HD 4000. Personally, I wouldn't really recommend that someone buy the game unless they were running at least a quad-core CPU at a least close to 3Ghz with a decent dedicated graphics card.
-
According to ASUS' site you're running an i3-3217U (2012 1.8Ghz dual-core) and integrated graphics. 15 FPS actually sounds pretty good considering you're nowhere near the min. requirements.

I think we need to officially rename the bugtracker.
-
Of course. More items, vehicles, more complex survival aspect of the game... There's loads of stuff in the pipeline!
-
It's difficult to be precise when you're trying to out-aim 10 players at once. :D

Gaining more FPS without sacrificing quality help, dev input welcome
Mos1ey replied to -Greenie-'s topic in Troubleshooting
Yes. I tent to use 8Gb and 3Gb respectively anyway, don't ask why... But it just makes sure that the game is detecting the full amount that it can utilise. -
You never know when you'll run into a group of 10 players camping inside a jail building. :D
-
I didn't realise that AC was running on RV engine these days.
-
You're fairly close to me. :) As SmashT suggests, your max ping will be set to 100 by default and around 120 will probably be the lowest that you can actually get. It is for me anyways.
-
That's exactly why they don't cause clipping issues, they fit tightly to the head so it doesn't cause problems. Apparently the head would clip through the hood as you turn your head and also the section where the hood joins the torso would cause problems.
-
I'd like to see a more aesthetically pleasing approach similar to Arma 3. We have the red text to let you know that we're bleeding, I don't think the crazy gushing is necessary at all.
-
Rocket said shortly after release that hoods wouldn't happen due to problems with players heads/hats/etc clipping through the hood, unfortunately.
-
In doing this you are gaining an advantage over players who play the game as is intended by being able to carry more items so yes, it's an exploit.
-
Honestly... No, I would not recommend buying DayZ with the intention of playing it on that machine. Assuming that you did manage to get it running there's a good chance that it would cause your laptop to overheat to the point that you may damage it. If you have any more questions please use the "Can I Run DayZ?" topic, which you can find here... http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/154395-can-i-run-dayz-retail-post-here/ Locked.

Too much IMO. It would be too similar to adding a random chance of you just falling over and dying from "unknown causes".

Mos1ey replied to -Greenie-'s topic in Troubleshooting
The difference isn't exactly night and day, but it seemed to give me a few more fps, especially in Arma 3. It just makes sure that the game is detecting your hardware properly. The ones that you want are... -cpuCount=x -exThreads=x -maxMex=x -maxVRAM=x You can also use -nosplash to skip the splash screen on startup. Obviously substitute x for whatever value fits your hardware. -
I don't think they'll ever be able to get the AI working much better than it currently is in the mod, unfortunately. Arma 2 was designed a military simulator, DayZ mod is making it do all kinds of things that it doesn't want to do and it no likey. This is why we're working on the standalone game. Hopefully the mod functions well enough that you can still enjoy it though, I know we all used to. :)

Unfortunately there isn't much you can do to that build that will improve performance to the point that the investment would be worthwhile. What you might look at doing is first disabling HT as it isn't helpful for gaming, it's a hindrance if anything, especially in DayZ... And then you may want to look at further overclocking your CPU. My i5 3570k is sitting happily on 4.5Ghz on a mid-tier air cooler. I would have thought that you'd get 4.5Ghz out of that on air without issue, you could probably push the 5Ghz mark with water cooling if you got a good chip. Also, have you made any changes to your DayZ config and are you currently using any launch options to make sure that the game is making the best possible use of your resources? Beyond that you will just have to wait for better optimisation like the rest of us. -
Yes, if you get banned in any BattlEye protected game then you need to contact BattlEye support who will review your case. Know that they will be able to see exactly what you're banned for and how it was detected so if you did cheat then I wouldn't bother wasting your time... Also, please don't necro topics from years ago unless you have something worth contributing to the original discussion. Thanks. Locked.

This is DayZ. Don't trust anything or anyone, especially ladders, stairs and steep inclines. ;)

Me too, but given the large number of audio issues that the game does suffer from I wouldn't be surprised if it happens on occasion.
